    Leveling a Champ, what virtues?

Hello. I have leveled a hunter and a Minstrel and I did the mistake to leave virtues for late.

Now I am leveling a Champion and this time I decided to not leave a zone unless I get the Virtues I am interesting from this zone. It will go more slow but I think I like the idea :P Anyways, after a long read on virtues and guides I have decided to focus on

Discipline for DPS and Loyalty, zeal, Valour, Innocence for extra Morale and mitigations. I thought to add 4 mitigation/morale virtues because Champion in Fervour cannot B/P/E and it will take all damage..so my only defensed are Armor, Morale, Physical Mitigation, Resistances and tactical mitigation. I also have read that while leveling, it is rare to get tactical damage so I left out Tolerance, Fidelity and Honour..

The problem is that I am still not very sure. Even when I fight 2-3 mobs with Area of effect abilities my life never drops below half and always have potions for a difficult situation. So I think maybe I slotted too many defensive virtues? Should I trait Determination maybe in exchange of a Defensive virtue?Or in higher levels I will need all these defensive virtues?

I would like to explain what you suggest rather than to just offer 5 virtues :P Thanks

tbh, I wouldn't worry about virtues unti you hit cap. They won't add that much of a difference in general gameplay as to be worth grinding them on-level, justuse whatever you have high enough and grind them as 75 instead. Besides that way you'll spend about 1/10 of the time grinding as opposed to on-level grind

IF you choose to go with maxed out virtues on level I'd probably focus on dps ones alone. On the other hand, at cap you'll need physmit (draig), tacmit (Orthanc), dps (fun-mode).

Re: Leveling a Champ, what virtues?

That was a bit discouraging :P I always want to have my character optimized, even for the little things :P Plus I think that the strong part of this game is the Leveling experience. Why to go back through lower level zones to pick up abilities and traits that you could have earned (and enjoyed the benefits of) while leveling.

But you also said that if I chose to go with max virtues on level to go with dps ones, I suppose that is Discipline and Determination right?Am I missing anything else?

Determination's not really worth it, imo. Discipline is good, but honestly the survivability oriented ones are really good both while levelling up and at endgame. Being more survivable while you level will let you tackle small fellowship quests on your own and let you pull more mobs at once for regular quests. I always have Discipline, Valour and Zeal slotted, then slot some combination of Innocence, Compassion, Tolerance and Fidelity slotted depending on what type of damage I'll be dealing with.

Re: Leveling a Champ, what virtues?

For lvling up a new caracter i prefer to pick up all quest-deeds from the area i am in at the particular moment, when finished i go to the next area and start with the next. In that way you already pick up quiet a lot of nice virtues without wasting much time on slayer deeds, i would just do them on cap lvl unless exept for a few easie ones which are quick to do (like the starting areas ered luin and so on). As well you get a nice amout of xp as you should mostly do the quests on lvl then.
I hope that was helpful, enjoy the game

I think the five you have picked are great (Discipline, Zeal, Valour, Innocence and Loyalty).

I urge you to work on Fidelity and Tolerance while you go, and here's why: many of them are Find Points of Interest. So you might as well knock them out while you are in those zones. While you will not need these two virtues until end-game, I ignored them while levelling. Now I have to go back to these zones which is inconvenient and time-consuming.

Man what a lazy sod.. ignore that dude and level your virtues and you progress through the game. You know its fun to actually play a game as intended rather than ez-mode it.. sheesh!

Any ways.. There a quite a few in depth Champ build guides on the forums so search for those if you will, my suggestion is to look for those that give you the MAV stats, Might, Agility and Vitality. There are other virtues that are helpful and most will level up nicely as you naturally progress through the game.

    Have fun

Re: Leveling a Champ, what virtues?

Even though I don't slot it, I usually do the Patience deeds for the same reason - and it's easy Turbine points. But if you're having horrible trouble with power regen at some point (I did in my late 30s), it could be helpful.

I'll echo what someone else said - work on Fidelity, and Tolerance and/or Honour, too - you will need tactical mit and resistance later in the game. Charity is a gimme from questing (3 ranks in Ered Luin alone), as is Compassion, at least early on, and very useful against wargs in places like Forochel and Eregion - I love seeing 'resist' instead of bleed pulses all the time.

If I could just bring myself to finish the 30 quests in MM for 2 more ranks of innocence, but I *hate* that zone.
