I suggest contacting Turbine directly, either by Email or ingame ticket (sent from a char youcan log on). Devs that post on forums (especially server ones) are just here to maintain a civil climate. The ones you need are from technical department. So just contact them and explain the situation as best you can

I get the same timeout on my laptop. LOTRO does not like the Virgin Media Virus checker/Internet security package. This is even with Lotro added as a 'safe' item.

If I disable that, it loads up fine.

    This is under Vista BTW.

And the sugested sites were of no use? Id assume they encountered the issue before, it was not related to them and they can only offer what third party solution they found themselves.

My last sugestion is to check your firewall settings, maybe try and remember if there was any change in your software (antivirus, firewall, operating system) or in your internet settings. If the problem was related to Trubine and the server it would affect others to. In the case the issue is in your side its so little Turbine can do to help unfortunately.....and in the end even deleting and reinstalling the client might be a choice (if your internet is not really really slow).

And if it helps Bitdefender 2012 sees LOTRO client as potentially malicious, so i just add the whole folder into ignore on scan. But i always need to start LOTRO, get an error at start then start again. Its a ritual :P

I have added lotro Client, launcher and lotro it self trough my firewall and so on. I am reinstalling it right now. But I guess I will just have to wait since the suggested sites doesn't work.

I had the same problem a few months ago, so i uninstalled the game, downloaded Lotro standard rez install, re-installed and ran it. Problem solved and has worked ever since. Hope that helps.
