Arkenstone appears to be fixed, for all those wondering. Looks like they deleted all the topics concerning it, but I haven't noticed an official update as of now.
However, I have confirmed I could get back into the server with no issues.
EDIT: The server is now down for maintenance, as of 9:20pm EST.
I just noticed the main thread about this was mysteriously missing right before I found your post. Looks like Turbine is exercising those "Lets sweep this under the rug skills".
Guess I'm not playing tonight then. Definitely not up to starting a new toon on an alien server. Guess it's reddit and Cthulu Saves the World for the rest of the night.
ok this actually kind of upsets me not one dev post regarding the matter and then now all the sudden the servers up and the main thread on the issue is gone i mean seriously? the main thing server issues like this with any mmo is that the devs are supposed to inform people of the situation and keep in communication with the players and they're not even saying that the server is working again what is up with that?
edit: woops lol my post was a bit late hehe

ok now this is just getting plain dumb. first I see they deleted the original thread trying to make it look like there was never a problem, but there still is a problem cause I still can't log in. at least now it says the sever is down and I hope that means they are fixing the problem now since have not been able to to play for over 6 hours now.

Threads weren't deleted, just merged.
I'd say what happened is they cleaned up the "crashed" characters, which allowed a bunch of people who were waiting to log in. Then they reset the server as planned, hopefully to fix the issue. It wasn't a tease, it was just a result of people logging in while they were still in the middle of fixing it.
At least they're addressing the issues experienced today and that's a good thing. Turbine should never be embarrassed about server problems, it's the nature of servers, they run very complex software and it can go wrong with so many people using it at once, but Turbine servers are well maintained and it's rarer than many other MMORPGs I could mention, all the other servers are still up for instance, we're just unlucky on this occasion. With another MMORPG you'd be often be waiting until the next scheduled downtime if the server needed an urgent reset, so well done to Turbine. I'm sure the server will be back shortly, but people should understand that it's often difficult to give a definite time estimate when they're fixing something that was unexpected.

Good points. It's not always easy to remain patient, but since I've been a DDO player for a long time I agree that Turbine's server rep has always seemed pretty solid.
I just can't believe my bad luck! The one thing I wanted to do this weekend and look what happens!
Update 6 is the new region Shores of the Great River, continuing south from Lothlorien. It's meant to be the link to Riders of Rohan Expansion that will be coming in the Fall.
Yeah, I'm just glad they are trying to fix the problems. I don't mind occassional server downtime if it makes the game playable. Today I couldn't even go to southern Brown Lands or Limelight Gorge cause of whatever was going on with the server.

I see. I've just held off this MMO since it seemed to have started small. Now that the "world" is getting bigger (praying for Minas Tirith someday) I just felt it's time to jump in. Day 1: Realm Down.
I would like to know, as a caring, involved player, just what happened, how it happened, why it happened and what they did to fix this issue. I would also like to know why they didnt take responsibility for this issue 3 weeks ago when it first happened, using the excuse, "it's coming from your end."

Re: Server Status Update
The topics weren't deleted. They were merged into a single topic and closed. There really wasn't much point in multiple threads about a single issue that is now resolved.
