You sure you have the correct game? Only playable Rangers in this game are in the moors

I don't even play this game any longer, but I do know most the Oceanics that were on this server have left the game.

Without having done an exhaustive study, I have been playing this game for close five years on this server and a little bit on others. In that time, I have been in, and run with, precisely ZERO kins that use Teamspeak for communication. Every single one has used Ventrilo. Teamspeak may indeed be vastly superior to Ventrilo. I don't know. Never had occasion to use it. But Ventrilo seems to do the job well enough. Maybe Teamspeak was more common in WoW, I don't know. What exactly is the major problem with installing a free client? So if you put the restriction that not only DO you not use Vent, but you WILL not, you've just eliminated yourself from serious consideration by probably 95+% of kins. This may have a lot to do with the slowness in replies. My kin has a few that, for whatever reason don't use a mic, shyness, don't have one, or what-not, but everyone listens to instructions over vent that can hear (we have a deaf member). Can't speak for my whole kin, but I would be unsupportive of switching our raid communication system to accommodate one person not in our kin for no good reason. Even with a generous offer of a free server in a different hemisphere.

That said, there are a number of kins that have advertised on this board that you would be well advised to have a look at. And contrary to what Spidey says, there are still plenty of Oceanics on this server. I raid with a few myself.

Re: Level 40 Ranger looking for Guild

The problem I have with Ventrillo is that almost every server I have been on you have to press a key every 10 minutes or you get sent to an 'AFK' channel. I use voice-activated (I have no background noise or other noise to activate it when not required and annoy people)

I run my voice software on another computer and a game on my 'main' machine (mainly so I can hear the people and not have to fluff around with game settings). The other computer is in back of me and I am not about to turn around and press a key every time I wish to say something.

Now if people would set up 'Vent' to allow people to use voice-activation without kicking them to an 'AFK' channel every 10 minute. I wouldn't mind using 'Vent'

Well, good luck finding a kin who uses Teamspeak. Have never been in, played with, or heard of a kin who used it, but I'm sure they exist somewhere.

    What's the beef with in-game voice? There's a hands-free option.

Re: Level 40 Ranger looking for Guild

Well, I can see by the attitude of people here, I might as well uninstall again.

A saving grace is the Lifetime Sub was a gift (as well as the expansion packs) from a mate of mine (who isn't playing anymore) so I'm not losing anything. but seems a shame..to bad the game is so solo unfriendly for 40+ Hunters..(don't bother with the 'Your a WUSS! if you cant solo" reply..not viewing this again)

It's not that you're a wuss, it's that you're passing judgement without really trying. This game is extremely solo-friendly.

If the mild attitudes displayed on this thread in response to *your* attitude is enough to make you pout and go home, well, I don't know what to say. You missed a great opportunity--not everyone has a lifetime account given to them (probably because it's against the rules), and this is a great game.

I wonder if I got trolled. Guild? Teamspeak? Hunters not being able to solo?

If so, kudos on getting me to waste 90 seconds of my life.

Don't let the door hit you on the rear.

You seem quick to anger and are a little stubborn on the voice thing. Your problem is only a matter of fixing buttons. Why did you waste money on a lifetime sub if you are just going to uninstall it when you don't hear an answer you like. Geeze

He didn't waste money on a lifetime, it sounds like the owner of the lifetime stopped playing and gave it to him. Not something I'd post on a moderated forum, since it's against the ToS, but still no big loss for either party it looks like.

Not sure what Ventrillo you are using, but I've used Vent for years, even had my own server and there isn't any auto AFK function that I know of. Sounds like someone with permissions was moving you to AFK. That being said, Mumble>Ventrillo by a long shot, a lot of people are switching.

I have to agree with the others, you have a very thin skin. My first post was in jest. If you can't handle a good natured poke, maybe single players games would suit you better.

It's in the Server Admin. Under user inactivity you can set the time of inactivity to either kick a person, or send them to an AFK channel. And it need not be set up at all, and can be as easily set to 1000 minutes as 10. The reason you may not have seen it is that not every server admin has to set it up that way if they don't need to. So most don't seem to. *shrug*

To the OP, this seems a pretty fixable issue. Speaking as someone who has occasionally helped with recruitment you're coming off as combative and not particularly flexible towards adjusting to situations. Two qualities that aren't highly sought after in a kin-mate. Sorry if that sounds harsh. But you commented on the lack of replies. I tried to explain one pretty large possible reason for that. Maybe people will switch to Mumble, maybe they'll stay with Ventrilo, or even go to Teamspeak. For me at least, the particular voice client used is of not even secondary importance to things like "friends and cool people I like to group with doing fun things".

Maybe switch classes to Minstrel? People will put up with more bad temper and idiosyncratic behaviour from people who have heals. Hunters? You can't swing a cat in Galtrev without knocking over 6. I kid..... I kid... And I'm allowed to, my main was a hunter for years.
