browse to the location in the error
C:\Users\[your logon]\AppData\ Local\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online\Launcher\
note: some of these are hidden folders, you either need to enable hidden files and folders or try the following
Code:
(vista\w7)
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Turbine\The Lord of the rings online\Launcher
cut and paste the text into either start > search\run, my computer address bar or the IE address bar
find news.html, right click news.html select properties > general and makesure the file is not ticked as hidden or read
only, if read only or hidden is ticked click the boxes to remove the tick. you shold also check all the other files in the same folder are not hidden\read only
if the file is not hidden or read only or if you still recieve the same error you need delete news.html
I tried very hard to find that file.. could not find it and I know it's a windows issue because I located some of the folders and they all said they were empty. Tried to show hidden folders but it remained empty. I'm about ready to give up and find another game >.>
assuming youve enabled show hidden files and folders
try opening my computer, select and open the C drive, in search type news.html. it should find news.html in the location named in the error
you should then be able to right click the file and select open file location
if that still fails, from folder options again remove the tick from hide protected system files
edit: using the %userprofile%[path] should bypass the hidden folders and go straight to the location where newshtml is
edit2: if you still cant find news.html try running lotro once as adminstrator. right click the shortcut and select run as admin

thanks everyone. It took awhile for me to be able to get to those files, but News.html and Alerts.html were both corrupted. It was as easy as deleting both files, then launching the game. It worked and alerts.html and news.html were recreated in the folder.
