Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
LOL, how about you re-read my post? The point I made was, that there are millions of things in this world where you can't go back in time, or otherwise guarantee a desired outcome. That's not unfair. That's life.
I was lucky this time, with my account creation date just before the cut-off. But Turbine could just as well have had a separate set of rewards for people who played on the actual launch day, in which case I would have missed out. If you honestly think this is all unfair, you don't understand the meaning of the word.
I'll help you out again:
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/unfair
un·fair #(n-fâr)
adj. un·fair·er, un·fair·est
1. Not just or evenhanded; biased: an unfair call by an umpire.
2. Contrary to laws or conventions, especially in commerce; unethical: unfair trading.
un·fairly adv.
un·fairness n.
Again: your definition of 'fair' is 'getting it your way'.Opinions are free, facts are sacred.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question and/or if it has been answered already but can anyone tell me if;I’m a European player who migrated from Codemasters last summer. Will I get anniversary gifts, too?
Yes! We have all the information we need to ensure that even migrated players will receive the appropriate gifts based on their eligible account age and status.
I have multiple LOTRO accounts on my master account. What happens to me?
Each individual eligible account will have the appropriate gifts applied to it.
The gifts for all accounts are counted for the "join date" of the oldest account, or for each account individually?

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
As a October 2011 premium player I won't get much which is Ok and I realize Turbine can't make everyone happy but perhaps in the future the gifts should be broken into two types:
1) Account-level gifts based, like today, on the join date.
2) Character-level gifts based on Character level.
This would reward both the player longevity and those who have poured a lot of time and effort since joining.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Where does the "veteran" part of the discussion come from? This is a celebration of the GAMES anniversary not any one player. The top awards go to the players who have been there longest. Turbine COULD quite legitimately given a reward ONLY to those players logged on before a certain date. Try persuading the local bar owner you are 18 or 21 (depending on country you are in) three weeks before your birthday! Bet you will not get served!

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
It would not make a difference. People will complain about it being 'unfair' anyway. The plain truth is, that there is noting at all wrong with any of this, except the odd sense of entitlement that the complainers seem to have.
It's such a crazy twisted way of looking at it, that it makes me laugh out loud.
I wonder if Turbine had announced in, let's say 2006, that they would give cosmetic horses in 2012 to those who subscribed in '07, if any of the complainers would have signed up earlier.
Oh and if their answer to that is 'yes', I am laughing even louder :-)Opinions are free, facts are sacred.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
I'm disappointed that the anniversary gifts specific to Years 1-3 don't have anything unique; that is, the items you receive besides the portrait, cloak and fireworks are items anyone can purchase through the store. I know it's free stuff regardless but part of the reason that I am admittedly envious that I didn't start playing the game until August 2008 is because the 4 and 5 year players get a unique item and I don't. I'm not saying that a 3 year player should get a steed or an outfit but something special for the 3 year players, and the 2 year players, and the 1 year players would have been nice.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Greetings and a Happy 5th Anniversary to everyone.
Yet another EU player here looking to find out when my account was originally created with Codemasters. I've tried the Codemasters Accounts page but I can't seem to login, I just keep getting a "Login failed. We could not retrieve your account." message! Tried changing my password, that worked but still cannot login to my CM account! Even tried contacting CM support and the ticket fails with a "Unable to connect to database" message!
So, is there any other way of finding out when I created my original CM LotRO account? I did play during the beta and am a founder/lifetime subscriber. My Turbine Account shows a Signup date of June 2, 2011 and under "Game Version History" I have the following:
Extra Character Slot
Shadows of Angmar™ Pre-order
Shadows of Angmar™ Trial
Shadows of Angmar™ Dell Bundle
Mines of Moria™ Standard
Shared Storage
Shadows of Angmar™ Mines of Moria Promo
Shadows of Angmar™ Promo
Shadows of Angmar™ Standard
Siege of Mirkwood™
Shadows of Angmar™ Pre-order
(EBGames™/GameStop™)
Extra Character Slot
Rise of Isengard™
Mithril Edition
Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Thanks for your reply, made me re-think which password I was using so I tried an old one and it worked! So, according to my Codemasters Online account:
Product: LOTRO
Creation Date: 16/04/07
Gametime remaining: unlimited
Status: open
Should be eligible for the 5 year gifts then!
It was more for my own peace of mind really, but when I couldn't login to my old Codies account I was a little concerned about what was wrong, but it's all sorted now thankfully.Last edited by GrizzlyUK; Apr 14 2012 at 04:55 PM.

I have been playing since 29/01/08 but i have payed in periods.
Right know i'm not paying i'm just a Premium guy
My question is if i have to be a VIP to get all my gifts for my four years of playing or is it enough to be Premium?
Thanks in advance!

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
As long as you are premium by tomorrow you are good to go. Makes me wish I played on my original account instead of my F2P account lmao
My original account is eligible for Y5 rewards and this one is only good for Y1 =(6/8 SoA, 0/2 MoM, 0/1 SoM, 0/1 RoI, 0/1 GR, 0/7 Skirmishes, 2/3 Instance Packs, 0/1 Raid

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Sorry to hear that. I have seen a few folks with similar sad tales - I'm curious why you decided to create a new account rather than use your existing one? I have been visiting EQ2 on occasion and always use my old paid account for my F2P ventures there which ensures I have many year of vet rewards annually.
The Balrog lives!! Oh, and give MECCG a try.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
I forgot exactly why (think it was cause at the time I figured since I didnt have anything beyond SoA since I only was able to play a month that there wasnt really enough of a difference for me to use it again, that and I wanted to see how far I could go on purely F2P) but at the time I just created a new account for the F2P beta and just continued using it. I could just grind on my original account but I have unlocked quite a few stuff already. Bought about 6K tp worth of unlocks on this account for just under 4K spent TP. Its only fluff so Im not too bothered that I cant have that stuff on the account I do play.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Anyone know if the anniversary gifts will only be granted to characters that exist on (were created by) April 15 (or 17) or will all future characters created on an account get the appropriate gifts as well?
Normally I'd conclude "all future characters," but there was that year that Turbine gave us the Bard discount only on characters that existed during that year's anniversary event. Inconsistency leads to questions and doubts.Last edited by Thoroval; Apr 15 2012 at 07:21 PM.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Indeed, but the initial problem I had was that I was using my normal Codies account login details instead of my Codies Online account details!
Ronigard's reply to my post made me realise I was using the wrong account details so I was then able to login and verify my original account creation date.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
I do/did not have a DDO account, but I changed my account name when migrating from EU/Codemasters to US/Turbine. The details listed:
- Started on EU server Laurelin in April 2008, played a couple of months paying a monthly subscription.
- After a half year or so I got myself a lifetime account.
- Did the migration last year from Codemasters to Turbine and I choose a different account name than I used for my Cog account.
- I received all the 4-year gifts on the two character I played with yesterday.
- I do (and did not) not use my Turbine and Codemaster accounts for other games.
Hope this helps.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Actually, it looks like a false alarm, at least in part. I've deleted the original post because the second time I logged in today (after posting) a 4-year giftbox appeared. I don't have the portrait frames yet, but it looks like Turbine did not forget those who had to rename transferred accounts after all. I'm off to try my luck in the beerfight

Happy Anniversary everyone!

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Shouldn't the portrait frames available be universal per account? Of my 9 characters, most could select the 'year 5' frame but some could only pick '1', some could pick '4', and another few could go to year '3'. There did not appear to be any correlation between char-gen date or char-level.

Just wanted to say thanks to Turbine for the gifts and the games to Celebrate the 5th anniversary with.I missed the 4 year gifts by a month, but I just like getting free gifts. lol.. maybe winning a horse in the "Lost Invitations" Quest has put me in a even better mood, but I've enjoyed everything except the fireworks in the Shire, and that's only cause I haven't caught two other people there at the same time....
Happy 5th, LOTRO..and all it's players, even if you just started playing today!

Shire fireworks, le'sigh
Don't bother with the Shire fireworks unless you have AT LEAST 3. If you attempt it with 2 folks, you both better be pro And awake. Flunked it twice, then realized the other person must have gone afk halfway through.
Two might be feasible, but even when a different 2nd person tried it with me, the hobbits weren't impressed.

Re: 5th Anniversary Hub
Two is quite possible, if you're coordinated. Me and my wife did it.
There's a tight row of launchers along the front end of the stage on each side. Place yourself at the middle of one and you can launch all of that row without moving. One person at each of those rows and you can keep launching continually. If both do that, you'll succeed, but not by a big margin
