Thema: Hobbit looking for a home...

Hi everyone

I only found Lotro a month ago. I started on a different server but I'm finding little interaction as a low level player. Also had a few poke fun at the fact that I love hobbits. Each to their own... I'm fed up of being on the sidelines when all the rest of the kin do raids cos they're all lvl 75 and there's nothing arranged for lower level characters.

So I'm looking to restart on a different server and the idea roleplay caught my attention. It's not something I've ever done before so I would probably need some help figuring out what to do and when. I just want my time spent playing to be totally immersive and interactive.

About me: I'm 53, female and spend a minimum of 4 hours a day playing, more at weekends. I'm in the UK and work as Admin for NHS.
I'm a hobbit from usually 4pm to 10pm GMT with a small break for dinner. Weekends I'm often seen online most of the day. My favourite class so far is minstrel. I like relaxed friendly play.

Anyone interested in this lonely hobbit?

Hobbit roleplaying is grand good fun, and the hobbit community here on Laurelin is very active these days. Some places to look for hobbit events is the calendar on me own burrow, or news from the hobbit "newspaper", the Bramblebury Gazette. Else, them local hobbits can often be found in Michel Delving square (near the well), playing music, dancing, gossipping and marvelling at all the busy people running around.

As for kinships, it depends if yer want to be in a hobbit-only or mixed kinship? For the former, there are a few options. Two busy RP kinships are The Grand Order of the Lost Mathom (of which I am a member meself) and People of the Shire.

I recommend yer come visit an event or two to see what goes on and meet a few of the locals. Green Dragon Friday in Bywater is very active and easy to get to for new players. But as the sites linked above should show, there is a lot happening elsewhere too!

I have a few new bookmarks to read now and good point that I should wander around a bit and see what's happening and how I feel about it all. I've been playing there all evening and to be honest am suprised at how quiet it is. I did see one interaction, 2 friends planning a pie feast, then heading off to find ovens. Otherwise rather like the other server. I am looking forward to seeing an 'event' or two [or more] and I'm hoping being part of kin will make a difference too.

Hardest part for me now is to figure out a 'family history' and 'life story' for my hobbit. Maybe for 2 hobbits as I want one as yeoman with someone who also wears light or medium armor and can treat hides. So main hobbit is minstrel and yeoman, can make her own armor, farm, fish and cook. Support role being another hobbit, class unknown yet, able to tread hides for the yeoman, who provides food and clothing in return.

Now back to the Sanderson farm for some more funny chicken business hehehehe.

Forgot my biggest question: Do all kin require voice communication like teamspeak or is it possible to find a kin where I don't need to use that? I love using chat, typing, but hate the idea of talking out loud. Partly as I use my laptop in the lounge in front of the TV [which I mostly ignore] and often chat to my partner while playing. Not non stop, but normal conversation you know?
I can touch type so love using that.

I want the interaction without having to use voice software. [my first server kin uses teamspeak a lot]

Lina has mentioned Green Dragon Fridays - here you can meet hobbits from the Grand Order and People of the Shire, as well as hobbits from other kinships, casual visitors and some wandering dwarves. There is a very warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere there. (But don't be put off by Master Matzo - yes he is a grumpy old hobbit, but he is also a great character)

Oh, and you don't need any of the voicespeak plugins. I think they detract from good roleplay myslef, apart from obvious difficulties in sounding like your character should sound

Hello hobbit looking for a home.

I am leader of the Celestial Dawn kinship and saw your post and was struck by how well you would fit within our current kin membership.

Celestial Dawn is a light/med rp kin with the emphasis on friendship and equality. We are a group of mainly older players, although we do have younger members. (We recruit from 18yrs+). We see ourselves as a casual kin and make no demands on our members other than to be active participants when present.

As a hobbit you would be joining a number of other hobbit members as well as other races as we are a multi race kin. As members we have a wide cross section of levels within the kin. I myself have a main level 75 captain but have a range of alternative characters from level 7 through all the main levels, this is quite typical of many of our members and thus quests/isntance/skirmishes can take place across the levels.
