I tried to use pay pal to purchase turbine points over the past couple of days. No success it takes me to the pay pal website via the link but it won't allow me to even tab into the log in area. So i am unable to make the payment. I am from australia does this have something to do with it. Is pp only available in the u.s?

If you are having an issue using PayPal in the LOTRO Store, you will want to contact PayPal directly for further assistance. They should be able to take a deeper look for you.

Unhappy Re: Can't log into to pay pal when trying to purchase turbine points

I'm sorry but the issue is not with pay pal it has something, i think, to do with the link to the website. I never have issues using paying via pay pal with other overseas websites. You suggested i should lodge a ticket. Can i do this from the forum or do i need to do this in game? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

yes im having the same problem. I cant buy points even with card, it just comes up saying error basically. I cant make a british account even though im from england, it has to be north america which is pretty annoying because i have a feeling that is what isnt letting me purchase turbine points. Maybe they will fix this, but it seems to me that turbine is just having problems at the moment.

If you are trying to use a credit card to purchase points, you can contact the Account Management team. They will be able to take a look, and process the payment for you if they need to.

If you are trying to buy points with PayPal, you will want to contact them. Let them know that you are trying to do a purchase with Turbine and ask if the account is fully verified. Once they confirm that, you should be able to purchase points with you PayPal account.

Re: Can't log into to pay pal when trying to purchase turbine points

I just want to add that there do seem to be some problems with the paypal/turbine interface *in game*.

I have used this interface before without problem. But now I cannot complete a transaction. It acts like there is something wrong with the page content that is conflicting. In my case I can log in, but upon submitting on the paypal site I get a black screen and it freezes my lotro session. I get a message that lotro had to close due to an error, which is odd for a browser page to have caused?

Not at all. You are using a browser written by Turbine that is part of the Lotro software. As far as your OS is concerned, the browser is another component of the Lotro software. When the browser does something ugly, the OS see that Lotro screwed and kills Lotro for it.

The limited Turbine browser is not as reliable as a main stream browser like Firefox. It is not as secure. I do not recommend using the in game browser to navigate the web.

I am very aware of how browsers work as I have done some web development.

I would LOVE to use a regular browser, but I am trying to get the current points special. It is only available in the in game "store".

Any middle school or high school student can do this kind of work with the help of something like Dreamweaver or manually edits of Hyper Text Markup Language. In this case, it is critical to know which web server software you are running. Most likely it will be a version of Apache:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_HTTP_Server
which is what we use. You have to decide which Browsers and Versions you want to support with your web site.

To really understand a browser, you need to extend of modify a browser. Firefox is a good choice since the entire sourcecode is open and available:
    https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Dev...ource_Archives
    for download.
I've worked on smaller browsers similar to what Lotro uses that are light versions to run on hand held devices. Devices that are not as powerful as an iPhone.

    Understand.

You and I are restricted to using the Turbine and PlaySpan (the company that operates the Lotro Store and maintains our Turbine Points in a PlaySpan account tied to our Turbine Lotro account) mechanism that combines a PlaySpan web server and the Lotro web browser with a supporting cast of the Lotro client, Lotro server software and other PlaySpan and Turbine servers to complete the transaction.

I understand what you are trying to say (and are inferring). I often appreciate your feedback but this forum is for account support, and I don't think this is as helpful in the context you are approaching it? This is a forum for account support, not debate? I don't think you meant it this way, but your post sounds like "Prove you know enough to report it or don't waste our (Turbine's?) time".

On knowlege level, I did not feel it was necessary to go further into my technical background. But I have little doubt I am as technically qualified as you are, if not more so. Regardless, since this is a support forum, I don't believe Turbine intends for posters here to have a technical background like ours.

laska, it sounds like when you are processing a transaction that you are getting a black or blank screen. This may be an error message that is not displaying properly. If so, you would want to submit a ticket to the Technical Support team as that is more there side of things. Let them know what you are seeing and when and they will be happy to assist you
