Ok i am making this post cause in terms of impressive i was very dissapointed...with Orthnac.
One thing i really enjoy in that game is of course seeing Middle Earth coming live in my eyes...And sometimes its true that something must not always be huge in terms of size to be amazing...Like Bree,Lothlorien, Shire or Rivendell until now
But the Isen tower and the region around ...i dont know but it didnt felt realistic or terryfying at the least of what i expect...Maybe its just me but thats how it felt... I mean the landscape around i know what they tried to create but didnt give the feeling...the tower is so small and fake and felt smaller also...and the walls where i was waiting much better stuff there!!
So i would like to say now cause after they are designed maybe its to late...Places like Edoras ,helms deep and Minas tirith and all the other places of course i really hope they ll have a big attention to give this amazing epic feeling....
Just a wish thats all...Sorry for the english bb.
P.S cause i am sure someone will run and say they ll not be in this expantion...Trust me i Know!!!! i was just saying
It says in the books that Orthanc was around 500' high, which is pretty much what it looks like in the game. I would back Turbine to be closer to the descriptions in the books than the films. of course, that may not match up with people's expectations. Books are like radio - the scenery is better than TV and films!
The height of Orthanc might be fine based on the books, yes, but the OP is right about the general feel and look of Isengard and the area around it (imo)
To make things much easier and understandable for all, watch these videos and you will see the difference. Rivendell is highly immersive and you get that awe-inspiring moment as you do with many other areas in game but Isengard... it looks like it hasnt had the same amount of work, effort and detail being put into it

The tower has the feel it should give, Tolkien tower of orthanac is based on a Industrial revolution England that is why you see mostly ovens, no forest within the ring of isengard and wasteland and ovens made of bricks to mass produce weapons, in many ways the Tower was eventually reduced to a weapons warehouse.
Isengard was a Gondorian outpost that later was entrusted to Saruman, that outpost and the tower were filled with stuff from provisions to ancient books, etc. (this was destroyed by saruman later on)
The isengard you see now is a industrial werehouse, even the tower serves that purpose, I think that is what the game tries to show.
I was pretty happy with Isengard and the feel of the place. The tower looks pretty neat when you observe it from the Ox-Clan encampment and when you're inside, it has that dirty, bland, empty feeling that it should have. Some people are way too attached to the movies. The books are very descriptive and often the movies totally screwed it up. The Balrog for example was WAY bigger and different looking in the movie than they were ever described in the book.
Well i didnt say the design (How the tower really is in books ) of the tower is off.I think they really got it right. I just said that the feeling from the tower and the around region gives just dont make me feel like the isengard i imagined(So its a personal view)...And especially the walls which well i dont know found them really small.. Anyway that is pettie talk I m not a hater... just said that i was expecting something more impresive for one of the Two Towers.
Never forget the first time i saw Weathertop in the game...from afar...Or Bree OR Bag End. Or the city of the Elves OR Dol Guldur (Even though it was empty inside :/)..So i know what turbine is capable of.
And thats why as a fan who don't want to go anything wrong asking very good attention to the epic locations that are coming. For example i dont know if there was a Stangard town anywhere mentioned before and it was quite impressive for a Rohan village...but honestly i would accept anything cause i don't know the place. But Edoras or Helms Deep well you are like a young child full of imagination and cant wait to see the grand schemes.

i agree. It's movies that distort people's feelings about Orthanc.
About Isengard itself, yes, it looks smaller than it'd to be but when i quested there i didn't feel that Isengard is small. So it's ok too.
...and remember the Vale of Nan Curunir was ravaged by Saruman and his exploitation of the land to suit his ends. The landscape was torn asunder, delved where it had not been delved before; foliage left unattended withered and died to be replaced with brambles and weeds, etc...
All in all, a good representation of what Tolkien enabled me to envision.
And, while we are on the subject, it is my fervent hope that of all the places in Middle-earth our devs take much care in their interpretation of Ithilien when it is one day introduced to the game. A place of beauty still even as the War of the Ring raged. Though it sat upon the borders of Mordor the region retained much of its beauty. Spring still sprung there even as Frodo and Sam stumbled out of the Dead Marshes. And the refuge of Henneth Annun and the Forbidden Pool. I cannot wait!
