Thread: That New PvP Area we have heard so much about!

I'd just like to remind people that we still have that New PvP area that should have come out with ROI. I hope that turbine didnt just make that up to get people to pre-purchase it. I would think that they started to make it so it should be done by now.... and when it comes out i would hope it would be free to all those vips that love turbine so much.

So.... Anyone heard anything about the new PvP area. Also dont forget to show your support that you want the that PvP area and that turbien should put effort into the PvP that we know and love.

Yeah, what about that new PvP area Turbine? I paid good money to be able to play in the brand new PvMP area that was supposed to come with the RoI pre-order that should've come out in SEPTEMBER 2011! it's april of the next year and still no new pvp area! so where is it? in the next update? how bout the one after that? are we supposed to wait until everyone pays their wait in gold pieces to even see a map of it, or to even here from it again?!

I'm certainly not saying there shouldn't be a new PvMP area, but where was it part of the pre-order purchase of RoI? Last I remember mention of it was a year before RoI was on sale and then it was only a maybe, not a certainty.

Again, I think there should be work done to expand PvMP if possible, but I just don't think it was promised as part of any pre-order package.

We have been hearing about this fabled "new pvp area" since Moria. At this point most people have come to accept the Ettenmoors as our pvp area until this game dies.

Every major expansion Turbine comes and says that they're working on a new pvp zone. At this point, it's either just a myth they use to attract attention or they got some slow, lazy coders. Either way, look for more mention of it come RoR.

You payed for the expansion, nothing more. Logically. It was hinted at as in progress of development, not that you'd be charged extra for it.

Question is, will Warner Bros. draw the conclusion they'd make more money out of it. The devs don't decide, they only propose things

When the RoI expansion was announced, the pvmp expansion (new zone) was included as part of that . There was no maybe. It was slated for the expansion.

Then of course it was changed down the road.

I think its going to be in rider of rohan, they allready began updating with commendations which isnt bad but needs some scaling. I hope they get some different game modes in it like capture the flag (and no capture a relic isnt the same :P)

The main reason for this thread is so that people don't forget about the new PvP zone and show their support so that turbine sees that enough people want it that it would be stupid to go against the amount of people that want it. They have said that it would be out since Moria now, if they can not deliver the promises and plans they make then they should hire more people to get it released on time or make it a goal for an update later in time. They are trying to make us forget about the new area so that they don't have to deliver and every expansion they can say they are gonna release it (that what it looks like so far). If a blue name is reading this thread and they think that promises aren't just words to be broken just because its bad business to keep it then why haven't we gotten this new PvP area in the 3 years you have said it is going to come out (trying not to be rude but this is how it seems a lot, also ignoring the subject just makes bad blood between the players and the company).

So maybe would could make a thread for people to show their support of the new area and have people sign it? If you want the area should try something to invigorate turbine into either making it or releasing it (depending where they are in the stages of development).

Definitely want a new area, but honestly I'm not holding my breath. If they promise a new map with any expansion in the future I'll make sure to screenshot it though to be able to prove it when they break the promise.

I'm pretty sure that the post they made for ROI is still around and they did make a post saying it wasnt gonna come out with ROI so i would say that is evidence enough to say that they said it was gonna come out and of course it didn't.

It should be noted that for the Riders of Rohan press release they said nothing about a new PvMP map. Considering Turbine claimed one would be coming for MoM, SoM(I think) and for RoI, it's interesting that they aren't doing it this time around.

Frankly, I'd rather the current issues with PvMP(like the massively lopsided balance and Commendations prices) be resolved first before a new map is even considered.

In any event, I would expect the day we get a new map to be the death of the Ettenmoors. Both because the PvMP population is not nearly large enough to sustain two zones, and no one is going to want to hang around in a zone that they've been in for 4+ years versus a brand new one.

Indeed, thats one reason why its factually correct to say turbine lies. Given that, what if they do say at RoR a new PvP zone is coming why would anyone believe it?

I think Ettenmoors map is just fine for open pvp. The new zone (if they ever do it) should be a zone of different kind of pvp games.

I wonder how many thousands of TPs it would cost... or tens of thousands

it was all a marketing ploy since they retracted it even coming with RoI sometime before and kinda stopped talking about it entirely... I think i can recall another situation where new pvp area was dangled over are heads for an expansion. But yeah it'll come with Rohan don't worry, and then it'll come after rohan's release and then all mention will of it will go away till the next expansion.

I propose that the new PvMP area be located at Al Gore's Mansion in Tennessee. It will be well lit by thousands of 120w incandescent light bulbs and everything will be up and running 24/7 (even on Earthday). Floodlights will be continuously lit outdoors even during the day. Wargs' and burgs stealth level will be significantly reduced if they are in direct line-of-sight of these devices.

The secret well-hidden coal-fired power plant underground will be the new DoF.

I will not believe anything anyone says about a new PvP area.


When my foot touches the soil of a new PvP zone, only then will I believe it to be true.


Thinking in any other fashion seems foolish to me by this point. Funny thing is: I'd definitely fork over a solid amount of $$ for a new zone. It just must seem to Turbine that I'm a minority.

Ya the expansion they said was coming out with a PvP zone was a while back when moria was coming out. After that they covered it up, i dont know about Mirk but we all know that they said it was gonna come out with ROI and it didn't.

Turbine should either release it/make it or say sorry publicly on the forums to the PvP members that they lied to us, those are the only choices that they have to regain their PvP respectability in my opinion.

Turbine admit fault? Yeah, right. We're still waiting on an explanation of last year's sever hack and how much damage it did.

I do admit that turbine will never say they are ever at fault but that is beside the point that they should still be delivering and if they don't it is out job to remind them that it is their job to deliver else they are not worth our service.

Did you mean the new PvP area they promised during SoA, the one they still owe us from MoM or the one from SoM?

Thats amazing, if only they would finish them one at a time instead of starting more and never finishing any of the massive collection of new PvP areas they have had thousands of people working on for 4 years...

You know what i mean, just a casual and quick note to the players that they were wrong in using the new PvP area for every other expansion to get more money and then not deliver because they "couldn't make it on time". They should also tell us regardless of saying sorry or not if they really mean to deliver this PvP zone or not.

Anyone who thinks a new PvP area will make PvP really knows nothing about PvP mechanics on LotRO. I'd much prefer they fix the first area before they work on another one tyvm.

To tell you the truth I think the exact opposite of you. Being stuck with the same map since 2007 is far too long. Also, what would you like them to fix with the first area. I didn't know there was anything wrong with it besides it being old.

I love current PvP, but after such a long time with the only small changes (aka the tree with the bird) it does get old but i wouldn't say boring. A new area would be welcome new mechanics diffrent stratagies and now we would all have to get to know a new map would be very fun. Remember the bugs in the moors will never truely be fixed totaly or even majorily and the moors will always be there even if a new area comes out so "why wouldnt you want a new PvP area". Unless you don't like change in which case you can stay in the moors with some other veterans who dont like change also.

alot of people that i know from my server have given up on asking for a new pvp zone.
either it will be a new turbine fail of the year award that they will get.
or it will never happen.

myself and many others just play lotro pvp for a side kick ( as we got lifetime ) and pvp somewhere els.

If you guys are looking for that new map feel head down to the south west corner of the map. There's nothing down there and it will help to simulate what the old map will be like when the new map comes out. Or even worse it might simulate what both maps feel like when the pop is split in half.

If we get a new map it needs to be a creep only map, get the rank 0-5 to a safe place to level. low ranks vs anything isn't pvp. Might also be nice to introduce new creeps to something other than a roflstomp their first few days of gameplay.

In 5 years of playing in the moors I have seen ZERO indications from any player on either side that a new map would change PvMp at ALL.

What is a new map? Just a new flat 2D surface to run on with varying levels of z-axis increases and decreases making hills, valleys, and cliffs.

No new map is going to change how people play. There will just be a new STAB centrally located where people pool to zergfarm. There will be a new visually isolated location that is convienant to rez circles/respawns like CM to house fightclubbing. There will be the same old gank spots just with new locations on that X-Y grid.

The MECHANICS need to change FAR FAR FAR more than the map.

Tired of the existing map? Use the parts that currently I can ride out to and sit ALL NIGHT and not see another player. 80+% of the map is hardly used, if ever.

We don't need a new map. We need a revitilization to the existing map and the existing mechanics.

Seasonal Comm grinds are NOT the fix. Engaging and dynamic mechanics ARE. There needs to be more DESIGN in the ettenmoors. Not some new map with the same design.

I'm still waiting for that new PvMP zone they said would be included with Moria expansion, so that's 2 they owe me while were at it!

That announcement was only accurate for a short time. Turbine never updated the announcement when the region was cancelled a couple of weeks later.

Turbine still says the level cap is 65:

Turbine can not be bothered to change the page even though the level cap went to 75 in September, 2011.

Turbine's web sites are full errors because the documentation is not updated to reflect changes. Take anything that hasn't been updated recently with a good dose of skepticism.

Good news is that you could look up the original historical documents about what is coming. Easily compare the plan to the actual.

Someone was complaining about why all of the lotro sites and maps and stuff wasn't getting updated. e.g. as you said it still states level 65 is max.

A Dev responded saying they weren't properly going to update it as they haven't the funds to change these things.

This of course started a massive uproar and the thread got removed.

New area could be good, but not holding my breath. Not complaining but ya, doubting pvmp is a priority and certainly not enough to warrant a new area.

My opinion is we need a new zone !
Don't waste time on the Moors and create a new zone with much less npcs, a lot of hotspots, and bigger keeps.

The best, in a dream, would be a new zone linked to the Moors. With everything done on one map have an incidence (effect) on the other one
Like we were dreaming for Fror, but Fror is useless.

Come on Turbine, after 5 years it's time to bring us a new zone !

How much money does changing one line of a webpage's code take? Changing "65" to "75"? A million dollars?
They should be getting enough money from the store now to be able to type on the keyboard

At worst, the introduction of a new map would be used as an excuse to delay long-needed updates & revamps, etc. They will say "We gave them a new map. We gave them what they wanted." Pretending it's all we are asking or and/or it's sufficient. neither is the case.

Ditch 90% of the NPCs and the moors is a new zone. This game is a f2p and the money comes from pve not pvp, dont expect anything soon. If you got LOTRO to pvp, you chose the wrong game.
