I would like to thank you all for giving me one of the greatest gaming experiences I could possibly ever have. It has been an AMAZING 5 years since I started playing LOTRO: SOA beta back in April 2007, and I have never stayed with any game and enjoyed any game longer than this. I have had an incredible journey and made countless friends along the way.
I have decided to depart this game not due to any real life matters or other games, but just due to the fact that I have invested around 6 months of play time into this game (around 4380 hours) and thought that it would be a good time to end this endeavor. Spending $600 on this game and 4380 hours of my life gave me around 7.3 hours of playtime/dollar .
Multiple times I have wondered what I would have done differently with my time if I had never started this game up, but I have to say I have no regrets. The community of Firefoot has made this game worth every second.
Turbine,
Thank you for creating one of the greatest MMOs on the market. I have never fallen in love with a game as much as I have with LOTRO. LOTRO started as a incredible MMO centering around the world of J.R.R Tolkien which I loved so deeply and became something more. It started to become a part of my life, something routine that I was required to attend. Every moment I played LOTRO was one I enjoyed though. Of course, like every game, there were its up and downs, but regardless of all the bad that came through, it did not sway me one bit. Keep up the great work guys! You are a fantastic company.
You may see Landit around here and there in the game, but it will be controlled by my friends in Taters. They are the single reason why I still enjoy logging on to this game every day, and are truly amazing people. There are so many people I would love to give shout-outs to or thank, but the list would take forever to type. You guys know who you are.
After playing the game for 5 years, I thought I would give out some snippets of advice for you all. You can take it with a grain of salt or whatever.
Don't hate on the new guys: WAY WAY too many times have I seen people not invite the "newbs, n00bs, noobs, choobs, baddies, etc." to a group because they just didn't want to help them out or have their so called "ego" drop. In fact, these player's egos are so high that they just refuse and ridicule that player. I have news for you "super awesome" players. YOU WERE ALL N00BS TOO. ALL OF YOU. Hell almost all of you r10-13's were the players that were considered the noobs a few years back. As you can see, though, those players are really good now today, so just try to be a little more open-minded next time. I too will admit; I have been a hypocrite of this on several occasions (if you see people shouting and typing go 3b3g on an FM, don't go yellow - not hard to match the colors).
Use clicky gear: You see that piece of armor or jewellery in your inventory that gives you a buff when you click it? Well use it! It is all over the place anymore and it does nothing but help you out. Yet I see LOTS of people not use it. Personally I have 14 pieces of the stuff and it has given me the edge when I have needed it. "But Landit, you have to wait 5 whole minutes before using it once equipped!". Well then either go take a small bio break, wait for your cds to get up, or equip all the gear before you log out and use it when you log in.
Plugins - pretty helpful: Not sure if many people use these, but just google "LOTRO plugins", browse the forums, or ask a friend in game. These things only help you, not hinder. I recommend buff bars, kragen slots, or whatever else suits your needs. If you use something like kragen slots, you can set up clicky boxes to where you can swap out a whole set of gear in like 2 seconds. i.e. - guards, put on your dragon set real quick (for warriors fortitude heal boost), then swap it to w/e else you want.
GUARDS -Use your IMMEDIATE skills to cancel out long animations: Two skills of a guard that have a long animation are TTK (To The King) and Hemmorage. See that stamp skill? Other than interrupting peeps, it is nice to use in a dps rotation. So IMMEDIATELY after using TTK or hemmorage even (or w/e else you think is a long animation), click stamp. If done with the right timing, you will see that TTK went off with no animation and you can do the rest of your rotation. For warrior's fortitude (depending on how you are using it), if you need to use pledge with it too, then use fortitude and at the same time use pledge. Your animation will be canceled. Additionally using fortitude and then deep breath works wonders. I've never seen other guards use this before, so I highly encourage it.
GUARDS - Great DPS rotation: Start with hemmorage (get bleeds off asap). auto-attack, force-opening, auto-attack, sting, then retaliation, then stagger (you can get off all three of them in like 1.3 seconds), auto-attack, then your choice of parry response, then auto-attack, then finally TTK with an immediate stamp to cancel animation. Rinse and repeat.
I'm honestly pretty tired of typing now, so bye peeps! I was putting together a Landit LOTRO pic album (http://landit.imgur.com/). It only has like 15 pics atm, but I will put a lot more in there (I have over 2000 screenies saved). If you ever care to talk I will probably be hanging in tater vent here and there.
Peace!
Handit - Hunter, Candit - Captain, Kandit - RK, Tandit - Burg, Tidnal - Warden
Definitely the sexiest person playing this game
I never got to know you, only know you by name, but in my thinking thats good, it means you didnt troll or get baited into dumb stuff and just had fun.
Good luck to you man, 5 years sneaking up on alot of us, May 7th for me is 5 years.
I just can't think of leaving Goneric alone with Havok, so I linger!
Only grouped with you a few times over the last 5 years, all in the Moors, and you really amazed me each time. Not only one of the better players on this server of many skilled players, but by far one of the coolest.
Best of luck to you in future endeavors, Mr. Sexybeast!
Landit, I miss you already. Thanks for all the fun, for all the times you logged into vent and accidentally had your voice changer activated, for every time you yelled "OHHHH DELICIOUS NOMS!" while chasing a creep in the moors. For the naked moors raid on your last night, and for that one time we got you to ask Cetus for a lollipop with the little girl voice on during raid and we all laughed so hard we cried. Taters will always have a place for you, man, should you decide you miss us so much you have to come back. (But definitely drop by vent often and make us laugh.)
Oh the flip side, now you'll have a lot more time to play Hello Kitty Online. (Long live the Kitty Bandits!)
Safe travels my great friend, we laughed many times, and slayed many of virtual foe's...I will try to forever keep our vent as a place for us to always come back and say hello.
So hard to see one of your friends leaving, but the future will be better for you Landit, i really enjoy and learn in this adventure with you, great battles in moors, great shield-wall on this noob, man i already miss you.
"West, North, and South the children of Men spread and wandered, and their joy was the joy of the morning before the dew is dry, when every leaf is green." - The Silmarillion Minstrel | Rune-keeper | Champion | Captain | Hunter | Warden
Best of luck to you Landit. And would like to add that your words here are well spoken. You seem like a nice person. I was laughing my butt off at your posts in OOC about the naked moors run, I was tempted to join
Landit....we have hung out for a few years an i hav enjoyed every Moors raid......taters or not.....every hardcore raid that we had to figure out an kept hitting our heads on the wall over an over ...night after night untill we finnaly kicked some butt!! You will be sooo missed! You always have a great attitude ( except that one raid...that we all said we would NEVER talk about agin).......lmao! You are always going to be an officer here an if you ever change your mind....come an spend a few hours chasing those creeps we love so much around the MOORS with your kinmates............WE LOVE YOU AN WILL MISS YOU TONS LANDIT!!! Much Respect!
Although I personally have rarely had the pleasure of grouping or playing with you, I have throughout heard only good things about you as a person and your quality of play, which truth be told is pretty rare on an MMO. I am sure you will be sorely missed, and Firefoot will be lessened by your leaving.
"Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea;
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.
Roads go ever ever on,
Under cloud and under star.
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen,
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green,
And trees and hills they long have known.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone.
Let others follow, if they can!
Let them a journety new begin.
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.
Still 'round the corner there may wait
A new road or secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun."
