Okay, here's what's my lil issue: I absolutely hate crafting, and have only been doing crafting with one of my chars - my hunter. I think it's boring and just takes to much time out of the fun game time I have. However, I'm in need of those westfold crafting vocations in order to get myself some nice crafted relics for my characters. Because of this I'm now wondering what vocation would be the easiest/quickest/cheapest one to lvl up, if only for the relics. I've got no problems buying everything right off the auction house, but if there's an quicker option than that, I'm all ears.
Any ideas?
Either cook or jeweler (polishing gems), but I found jeweler better because you don't need to keep as many things in your vault to make the guild recipes. The bonus is that guild jewelery takes very little time to make once you get the guild up, and is VERY nice.
I also would recommend cook, because the guild has 6 relic recipes (more with the isen expansion don't know exactly how many) whereas the other crafting professions would only do 3. Again I know that's changed but I haven't checked out what exactly is available now.
I agree with Strikerin. Jeweler isn't bad because you can just polish gems but if you want a craft maxed out right now then Cook is the way to go. Cook is easiest to get maxed because you can buy your components at the vendor but all of the components will fill up your bags for awhile. Plan to spend a few gold if you go this route though.
You can't buy all your ingredients at a vendor. You need to farm some, or to buy ingredients off the AH.
Cooks have more relic recipes? Don't all professions have 5? 3 at Supreme (1 req. Mastery), 2 at Westfold (1 req. Mastery). Two requiring no compendiums, one requiring Compendium Vol I, one requiring Vol II, and one requiring Vol III.
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won
The cook profession combinded with the farmer would be the easiest to level as u would only need gold.
The guild recipes for this will let u make some teas and coffee later that will give u extra legendary item xp for a time after using.
However if u can get hold of the gems to polish for jeweller u may find this more rewarding in the long term as u can make very nice jewels for the cap at the final tier. Also this also includes the cook profession which if u can combine with a second char with the historian profession u would be able to make scholar items, weapons, jewels and food however with 2 chars u would only have 2 that could be guild.
The easiest to level with just money though would have to be the cook with farmer.
Since I need to lvl up the crafting with at least three of my chars I guess I'll try out both cook and jeweller, since those two seems to be my best bet according to your answers. That way I can choose the one I find being the easiest with my third char! Awesome!
Thanks alot!
Well, one warning. The best crafted relics are Bind On Acquire at all stages. The item you make is BOA and the item you trade it for is also BOA (all crafts provide the same high level relics when deconned). So unless a character does his own crafting AND joins a guild, they can't get the best relics for their LIs. The other relics that can be traded are based on diff relic output from diff crafts. Only one craft can make relics that provide onon-bound vitality buffs, another makes might buffs, etc.
If you want cheap tho, avoid WS or WW. These have the greatest number of guild recipes for making LIs with and that gets expensive to buy them all. Of course, if you don't plan to buy the recipes then it does not matter if you take these.
Recipes for level 58-65 start requiing Mithril Flakes to make and these only come from Ore Deposits and Rare NPCs. For the level 75 recipes, you need Sigil that can be found in Ore Deposits, Wood Deposits, or Scholar chests.
A Yeoman is one pf the easiest crafts to level but if you want the skill to get relics it is a bad choice due to the space requiremnets for farming and cooking and the number of mats required to make anything. Best to make an alt to provide yourself with farm goods and cooked foods. They will never have to level and can spend their entire life in the Shire.
After that, all the crafts have similiar crafting curves. You make a bunch of components and then turn them into finished goods so they all take about the same amount of time to level the crafting skill. You just have to decide which skills will also provide you with other usable output than relics and and what you are willing to sacrifice to get there.
as others have said Cook and Jeweller are the easiest. Between the two, Cook will cost more in time, money, and inventory space, but all your ingredients can be self-produced (if a Yeoman) unlike Jeweller where you'll need to gather or be lucky enough to find what you need on the AH (which could flip the costs in time or money). Scholar is probably the next easiest, especially if your toon is capped and thus would have no mobs harrassing you as you gather mats.
