Elf of the second age character possible??

Hello, I've been playing the game for about 3 months now, and I have been playing all sorts of different characters, and trying out all the classes, never got passed level 20. I want to start playing properly now and get to end game.
I'm stuck between a Elven hunter (Which I have an outfit sorted for already, and what I'm about to write)

I've just bought the 'Weapons and Warfare' book by Chris Smith, which is awesome. I've been struck by how cool the Elves of the Second Age were.
I really like the armour and style, from the battle of the last alliance?

Now, before I continue, I do realise that Turbine do not have the rights to use things from the films, and there won't be anything just like it, but surely in LOTRO, Elves must still have their own decent looking armour??

Here's some pics of what I'm trying to go for..

    http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/...ond/Second.htm

So I've been trying to figure out if it's possible to create a character that's fairly close to them, just so it's something abit different. I realise that in the time that LOTRO is set, it might not work lore-wise to have one of these guys running around, but I just think they look really cool!! Maybe he would be a Noldor survivor who went to Rivendell and kept his original armour or something..

I'm thinking he would be either a Warden or Guardian, because of the spears and shields they used, there is a heavy shield called 'Heavy Elven Knights Shield' that looks like the ones from the films ( http://lotro.northshield.co.uk/Shiel...en-Knights.htm )

but I don't think Warden's can use those, and the Warden version as you can see from that link is a standard Warden shape. So would a Guardian with a spear be possible, that wears heavy armour that looks Elven?? If there is Elven heavy armour at all..

I have found a similar looking helmet with the razor on top, but the face is covered abit more. The 'Ceremonial Razor-helm' from the Store.

If anyone could tell me if this is possible to do, even if it's purely cosmetic and not equipped armour, that would be amazing. Also if this is a complete waste of time, please let me know and I'll just stick with the easy option of my Laiquendi hunter :P

    Cheers!

Unhappy Re: Elf of the second age character possible??

Unfortunately, I have all character classes except Guardian, so I can't really say if they can use a spear at all.

The best class to play such an elven soldier would be the warden. However, as you could see, their shields tend to have that little hole.

I think wardens can also use normal shields (not heavy) so, you could use the regular shield (on the left of your link). Not as effective as a regular warden shield, but being level 50, it wouldn't be effective for long anyway (no way to use shields or weapons as cosmetics yet).

As for armor and helmets similar to those, I don't recall seeing any, unfortunately.
I'm no cosmetic expert, but, unless I'm missing something, I think you are out of luck...

Edit: Best I could find was: Ceremonial Rift Defender's Helm + Hauberk of Rhun... However, I doubt that would satisfy you (It doesn't satisfy me).
Not sure how they can be died though. Maybe they look better in gold or something...

Re: Elf of the second age character possible??

    Thanks for the quick response

Okay, I've been looking around, and I have found a nice Medium Armour, and a nice Heavy Armour.

    http://lotro.northshield.co.uk/Mediu...Lothlorien.htm
    http://lotro.northshield.co.uk/Heavy...Malledhrim.htm

Realistically I'll need a shield on level with my armour.

    http://lotro.northshield.co.uk/Shiel...lothlorien.htm

The Lothlorien Warden's shield looks pretty nice, I think I can live with it not being the Elven Knights one..

    http://lotro.northshield.co.uk/Shields/GHost/GHost.htm

This shows the Malledhrim armour with the Lothlorien Heavy Shield (Golden Host looks exactly the same but Lothlorien is level 60)
Looks Elven-ish, not quite what I was after originally though...

The Medium Golden Wood armour looks closer to it (minus the helmet, that looks horrible) So, I think I shall go for a Warden then..
The normal 'Elven Knight's Shield' would look great I think, but it would annoy me purely stat wise, as it's alot weaker than the Warden version so I'll go for the Lothlorien level 60 Shield.

For the helmet, I think I'll wait till I have the armour and try some different ones to see what matches. If the razor helm and the rift defenders were fused together, that would be perfect! oh well..

I may even end up levelling both a Warden and a Guardian as I do like the Malledhrim armour... ha decisions..

Anyway I've always got my hunter to fall back on

    Thanks!

Re: Elf of the second age character possible??

I've not seen any stuff i can recall that looks exactly the same though there are pieces that look simular one of which is the helmet you mentioned. as to the guardians using spears they can yes mine was using one (lvl 75) untill i swaped it recently though other weapons do have better stats. If your going with a warden then the sheild that that you posted (Lothlorien Shield) would look like the middle one, the last one is the heavy sheild so you'd need your gaurdian, personaly i found the guardian sheilds do look better altough some of the ones at higher levels don't seem to look as nice. For the right cosmetic look i've even had some medium armour pieces so you could try those too (i like the look of the golden host medium) though i don't know how easy it would be to get hold of unless you have some friends/kinnies that could do it for you

Re: Elf of the second age character possible??

Yes I was pretty confident I saw a Guard using a spear

That armour looks very nice, but I think it would be very difficult as I'm fairly new, no kinships.. All on my Larry xD ha

What I'll do then is level both a Warden and a Guardian to level 20, and whichever one I prefer playing I'll choose to continue playing I guess..

    Thanks for your insight!
