I'm a returning player, starting over to relearn the game, basically trying to get a realistic gauge on the current state of endgame on this server. I initially thought "Hey! I'll roll a Minstrel, everyone needs minstrels!"; but, easily half of all characters I see are Minstrels now. Almost the entire section of the remaining half are Guardians. Not the worst problem to have, but...
Whenever anyone says "play what's fun for you!"... well, the idea of fun for me is being useful and social in an MMO. I don't play to solo, and I'd have a lot more fun playing a class that others can get a good use out of and is never stuck in LFF all day. I do like the current Minstrel changes, but if they're saturated, then I'd rather play another class. I don't need to be a special snowflake, I just need to be able to find groups and make a difference.
So... with morals and niceties aside, what is the REALISTIC view of what is needed at endgame? The assumption (for at least the sake of the argument) should be that I'm a skilled player, regardless of the class. The only other criteria for argument's sake is to understand that the one class I really wouldn't ever play is a Loremaster... I love all the other classes (played all 50+), but LM just dissatisfies me... Given that others may find the information useful, by all means, include LMs as needs here, but if it's the case, please give a second option so that the information is useful directly to me, as well. All answers should be in relation to current endgame content.
What is the highest need for...

Most posts I see are "Looking for Cappy/Mini/Tank". So I would say anything in that category. Jeffor was right though with the Captain. Everyone can always use a Captain. I have not played one but I know they are a nice 'jack of all trades' class that could really benefit just about any group.
