Seeking constructive criticism for my raid leading

I can, at times, be very frank when leading, and also somewhat vulgar. I try to be tolerant of new people, but I do have to draw the line somewhere. Just looking for constructive criticism from those whom have raided with me. I won't take any criticism/advice offered in this thread personally, I'd actually appreciate it. So I welcome any to share their thoughts. Specifically, those that are new the the Moors who may not raid with me often. Do you think I am too strict/vocal/vulgar, or the opposite of?

    Thanks,

Too be honest (no offence) You're too much of the Old School just like DoG, there are alot of Freavers here and I know you guys try your hardest to herd them, but Its close to impossible, only hint or advice w/e I can give is: Be yourself, you dont have to change just cause of some freavers

Re: Seeking constructive criticism for my raid leading

I don't think you'll get a serious answer. Not many new people use the forums ...yet.

Over all I don't think people care about how good mannered or bad tempered leaders are if they are getting infamy/renown. Or even as long as someone takes the button and pretends to have a plan, people are happy. People put up with Valistar's tantrums only because they didn't have the burden of having the button, and there was easy renown to be had. So no body really complained.

I haven't played for a bit but to me good leaders aren't afraid to boot people that fail to stick with the raid or not have voice enabled. And MOST OF ALL ... someone who keeps the raid (mobile and active) trying things up and down the map even if it fails. If it's a good effort of team work trying stuff makes the game fun. I'm all about doing sh**. That's what I like to do when I lead raids any ways. Doesn't matter if people like it or not. If they don't like dying or would rather turtle all night they can start there own raid.

Re: Seeking constructive criticism for my raid leading

I agree with reject. Thesingleboxer is one of the 3 best raid leader currently on creepside.

Signs of a good PvMP raid leader (IMO)

    - Good target selection

    - Keeps the raid moving

    - Understands basic moors strategy/tactics

    - Keeps order (If people don't have voice, don't go where the raid is going, etc there is nothing wrong with booting them.)

    - Stays calm (Even when things are going poorly)

    Gormadan - Minstrel lvl 85 (Rank 4)
    Celebdan - Weaver (Rank 11)

Re: Seeking constructive criticism for my raid leading

To be a good raid leader you need the following:

    1. Lots of alcohol (hard liquor preferred)
    2. Plenty of smoke and bio breaks (see #1)
    3. Lots of obscenities and name calling
    4. Mispronunciation of all names
    5. More alcohol accompanied with singing (to bolster the troops' morale)
    6. Basic working knowledge of 'flanking maneuvers'

That about covers it, creep side.

The Great Exemplars of How to Raid:
    1) Clockknock
#- for breaking the Guiness record for how long it takes 24 people to piss off another person. The phrase "one pixel, guys, get over here, one pixel" may be used frequently
#- for telling about half the raid they will get pounced and eaten by wargs unless they get on the red skull

    2)Davil
#- for 4 manning raid quests way too frequently and breaking the game by reaching 147% mitigations with audacity and holding a relic.

    3)Tarvin
#- for mastering the "one pixel" speech and motivating creep zergs from behind the pack. #The BA was a perfect class choice.

But now, in all seriousness... these guys might have unsavory ways of getting things done, but I respect their leadership capabilities (not their play style necessarily) because they get things done. A good raid leader can be the biggest a-hole you can find and still be respected because they know how to gather people up. #Now I'm not saying go drink heavily before you lead a raid and swear extensively at freavers but what I am saying is this: do what you think is best for the time being, don't let others in the raid push you out of the leader position by constantly putting forth their own ideas of "what we should/n't do." That just makes everyone unorganized, confused, and easy to steamroll.#

I have no criticism for any raid leader I think it is very hard to get everyone to do what you need them to do and I appreciate anyone who tries! I would like to be in more raids, but my lag is so bad that it is better for me not to take a spot in the raid. I do like to help out when I can though.
    Thanks to ALL raid leaders

On second thought... Viceras made me cry one time in his raid. He was so angry, he started singing Drummer Boy in vent really loud. I mean ffs it's just a game.

Honestly when ive grouped/raided with you I was really impressed with how u handled new ppl....lol I figured youd flip and start yelling at most of the stuff that the new ppl do, but you were insanely patient and didnt get mad unless someone kept doing something that u told them not you.... this is probably due to knowing what ur like in vent but...... overall I think ur fine. Plus the singing and being drunk are always amusing... Id play more but between bf3 and league of legends I dont have much time...this game just isnt as much fun as it used to be for me

I know my opinion is biased but I think your raid leading is very good. Your pretty fair with everyone in raid, move the raid around the map, and good in combat situations calling targets/etc. Now I think though you should start to focus on leading groups like ohh I don't know.... the four horsemen perhaps, lol. Our little group of four back in the day was a blast, ah memories. But overall I don't have anything to add as far as your raid leading, I think you do just fine.

Re: Seeking constructive criticism for my raid leading

I've been playing LOTRO for about 2 months, only on creepside, and I've noticed there is a handful of real good PvP Raid leaders for the Creeps. Thesingleboxer is definitely one of the better leaders.

There's nothing wrong with having a bit of discipline in a raid. It's important to make it fun for everyone (because after all this is just a game) but there's nothing more fun than wiping an entire freep raid. When people are running around out of group, or hitting wrong targets, or not following directions and we get wiped... I'm not having any fun. There's nothing wrong with dying. I die all the time. Losing is fine, as long as we fought well, because you can't win every time. But the play experience is much less fun if the raid is sloppy. I think the handful of Creep Leaders recognize this and do a very good job of balancing discipline/understanding so that everyone is having fun.

I always appreciate it when someone steps up and decides to lead a raid - win or lose.

My 2 cents from a new player.
