Looking at the site today and seeing no lotteries just kind of seals something that I have been thinking for a while now, and that is that the little things in this game have seriously gone to poop.
The community aspect used to be one of the best things about it, there were always clever lotteries for various days or little things in game or even various posts.
You would know that festivals were coming long ahead of time instead of now whenever and right before they go up.
Pax came and went and there was nothing, the treasure hunting thing was a nightmare when it came though it was a neat idea.
Of course you will have the people on here who insist everything is perfect because they somehow thing that the devs and the mods are their buddies and by agreeing with everything will somehow gain them something, but I know I can not be the only one who misses the little personal touches that used to make this game special.

Regular lotteries run Monday noon to Wednesday noon, Wednesday noon to Friday noon, and Friday noon to Sunday noon. There is no lottery between Sunday noon and Monday noon, unless there is a holiday or other special occasion. Everything seems normal here.
Nice pre-emptive blanketing of the opposing viewpoint there bucko. I could say that you also have people on here who insist that Turbine is actually a front for Very Very Evil Guys Incorporated(tm), and that their singular goal is to screw you over and ruin your fun. And not just anyone either, YOU, sitting there reading this.
As for the Lotteries, yes they do seem to be missing from April Fools this time, but one case hardly makes a trend, and I would assume there isn't one up because it's a weekend and the Turbine staff(meaning Sapience :P ) is not at work.
@ kmcferrin
Guess that's his whole point...
NO APRIL FOOLS LOTTERY.
No funny, but useless items to win.
Just the normal lotteries...
hence: the personal touch is lost
(disclaimer: I'm not saying I agree, nor
that I disagree, just a translation of intent)
(actually, either I missed it, or I DO agree with OP)
It's sad how much I disagree with your specific examples. De gustibus non disputandum est, they say, but it seems to me matters of taste are really the only thing worth arguing about. Arguing about truth is a vain pursuit, despite where most of the time seems to be spent in presidential campaigns. Specifically:

My feeling is that lotteries are a blight on the game, like lootboxes and keys. It's a way to cheapen what other people have had to work for. On Riddermark we had one guy get a lootbox from a craban in Gravenwood that had a WSotEK in it. Craban carrying a lootbox? Please! (But yes, in an embarrassed voice, I do enter some of the lotteries.)

The festivals always seem to me to go on way too long. Seems to me there's plenty of time to plan for it, even if you don't start planning until the stable guy shows up.

I loved the treasure hunting. While it was up that's the only thing I did, and I even neglected a family thing to try to get one more mount! (I didn't -- it was karma.)

You mean me? There are lots of little things I dislike... but they seem to be different from the ones you dislike. De gustibus...
I agreed with most of this to a degree, until the attempt at a pre-emptive discrediting of those who may disagree and still like the direction of the game.

Hey, these are the same critters who somehow manage to blocks arrows that I shoot at them, even though they don't appear to be carrying a shield. Clearly, they have some Ninja training, so lugging around lootboxes shouldn't be a problem: Shield in one talon, lootbox in the other, and may the soldiers of the Free Peoples quiver as they approach!
never a new lotteries that haven't started before the weekend hits, lotro isn't going to pay someone to go in on a weekend just to start up a lottery, in the past we had lotteries because april fools didn't happen to fall on the weekend

This. It's Sunday. Do you really expect Sapience to work on a Sunday just to start a lottery?
They've even had lotteries on Christmas day in the past if I recall correctly.
Surely the lottery system is advanced enough that a lottery can be scheduled to start and end at a specific time - it doesn't require someone to be sitting there pressing the "Start" and "Finish" buttons.
The flash lotteries may need someone physically there to make the twitter post.

All I got from this is the old "Anyone that likes it here is delusional" line. Why do you doomsayers feel that we players that enjoy the game think everything is perfect? That in itself is delusional. We know the game has it's issues.
If you would have left out this little snippet remark I would have taken this post seriously.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
I miss all the tongue-in-cheek April Fool's postings and such for the world to see. This year, they just sent out press releases to various sites... and nothing to us players??!?
No official postings here in the forums, nothing on the LOTRO.com website, nothing in game, nothing mentioned in the Patcher text announcement box... nothing for the players to chuckle over.
Yes, some heart-n-soul has been sucked out of the little things that used to bring everyone together.
