Thread: New LOTRO Defrag Tool Please

Please get a new LOTRO Defrag tool on your site. Since the Isengaurd/Stangaurd updates (more the latter) My game crashes every, single time I select the exit game button(no exaggeration). And my game still crashes quite often going in and out of instances. I played for about 3 hours a couple nights ago, and my game crashed ELEVEN times I believe.

Turbine, oh turbine,
Bring again which once was thine.
The LOTRO Defrag Tool we loved,
Till in the dark it was shoved,
We need our games to work once more,
The constant crashes are such a bore,
These issues might effect your review score!
So please Turbine, please......

I don't think Turbine develops the LOTRO Defrag tool. You have to ask the author to update it; it has nothing to do with Turbine.

This topic needs to be moved to Techinal Support. Because they are going to need to reivew the issue. It my or my not be defrag. I had the issue you decriped and was able to repair it my self. Basicly Uninstall lotro and reinstall lotro and the issue was fix. And my Drive can not be defraged. Because it a SSD drive. Not a hard drive.

The old unsupported DAT Defrag tool can't do anything to fix game crashes. All it did was "repack" the contents of the game's DAT files so as to put the contents into a more optimal order and possibly recover some slack space taken up by old versions of those contents. The end result, if you separately defragment your entire hard drive afterwards using your operating system's defrag tool, could be slightly quicker load times due to more efficient hard drive access.

The game's launcher now patches the contents of the DAT files in a smarter manner, rendering such a tool less useful in the first place.

If your game is crashing at exit or while playing, you need technical support. (This happened to me after Update 6, and switching the sound output device to "Generic Software" stopped all of the crashes for me.)
