Thread: Why Turbine Doesn't Think We Are "Adorable" Anymore! (or "Dull" or "Insulted")

Why aren't we "Adorable" anymore? Maybe the devs prefer us to be known as Executioners of the Wicked, Heroes of Middle Earth, and Pork-Choppers! Maybe they don't think we're so Adorable when we complain, bicker, or ragelog. Maybe they think Sauron will laugh at and squish anyone known as "The Adorable".... But who really knows?

Has anyone completed (or attempted to complete) all of the Hidden Emote Deeds in, say, the past six months?

I have been working on them for quite some time, and the only ones I have NOT gotten are:

• The Adorable (from /hug)
• The Dull (from /bored)
• The Insulted (from /Rude)

I have gotten the other 14 just fine, with the most recent of the 14 being completed on February 24, about 35 days ago. Although I haven't done them every day since then, I'd say in total I've received each of the "missing" emotes over 250 times total.

So has anyone gotten those final three titles anytime recently (say, in the past six months?)? It's been known for maybe 3 years now that "The Adorable" is bugged/removed/missing, but now "The Dull" and "The Insulted?"

P.S. Yes, I have been doing them the correct way - i.e. not in a raid (actually, I do them not in any group at all just in case), with me as the "target" of the emote, etc. and also I got the other 14 just fine.

I am sorry I just noticed your thread. I don't have access at the moment to a machine with a Lotro client. I will have to log Tantalus in when I get access and see which of these that she has. It been a long time since I was emoting myself via my two accounts.

I don't remember off the top of my head which ones I was unable to complete due to defects in the Lotro software. Since it was such a long time ago, there is strong possibility what I provide (assuming I remember) may no longer worth the time I spent typing it. Turbine has a nasty habit of breaking, changing and fixing stuff.

Thanks for reminding me that I never finished all of them. I shoud start working on the unfinished ones to see if I can complete them.

Dull and Insulted are working. At least, they were last month. Can't confirm if the latest update broke anything or not.

Hmm, thanks for the confirmation. This makes no sense that it would work for you last month but I've been doing them for probably 50 days and it hasn't completed for me. I guess I'll bug it, again, and see what comes of it....

On this particular character, I got "insulted" on February 23rd, "dull" on February 3rd, a couple others in between, and all the rest a few days earlier according to my activity log, so you can see there's at least a three week span before the various deeds start to complete. I may have received some emotes from other players long ago that added to my count, but given the cap-per-day, they shouldn't not have caused such a huge gap.

So, I'm not sure if the various guides are actually accurate with their cap-per-day and total required to be honest. They have conflicting numbers for a start. The deeds don't tell the numbers after completion either, they just say "you have completed this deed" or something like that, so I don't know where those guides are getting their numbers from.

I'd say to keep spamming the emotes, and not just by 5 or 6 a day as recommended by the guides, but a generous 10 to 15 times a day. Unless Great River broke stuff, you should get them eventually.

OK, got "Insulted" (using /rude) today! So they are still working.... hopefully I'll get /bored ("Dull") soon! But it took a LONG time to get "Insulted".

OK, I got the title "Dull" today finally! I figured out what the issue had been- why it took WEEKS longer than the rest. I think some people were using ./yawn on me and not ./bored, since the text has the word "yawn" in it and I was not very explicit when asking for help. So at least there was a reason, it seems!

"Adorable" is still broken forever though.... oh well....

Adorable has been disabled for several years. I think the story there is they had /hug as an emote originally, took it out, turned off the deed, added the emote back but never activated the deed (although I think people who got that title never lost it).

Also, at some point, I think around the time they revamped Evendim and Annuminas to add quests and balance the level progression, a bug was introduced that would cause your deeds to advance if you targeted an NPC and did one of the emotes. I'm not sure they ever fixed it, but you can test this on a new character since you'll hear the gong sound when the deed starts.

Another fun fact, creeps can increment your emote deeds by using one on you (even though you don't see the text).

Thank you for all the details. I always wondered what happened to it along the way. And interesting re: NPCs incrementing the deed, although I don't know how that would work, as it increments on the one receiving the emote, not the one giving it.... Nonetheless, I got them all at this point and that's good enough for me!
