Re: High Res Client
not officialy, the only official high-res download is via pando, you could try using the
High Resolution Client Repair Tool but this uses pando as well to download
if the feature still works and im not sure if it still does but you may beable to force lotro to download the highres textures. from ingame options, graphics, select ultra high from overall graphics quality. if this feature still works lotro will tell you it needs to restart then it should download the high res-textures
if you require the high-res client then the only options other than download via pando are
borrow a friends high-res installer or at least the client_higres.dat and client_higres_aux_1.datx from their install
use old install disks for MoM (not codemasters disks) but this will require a LOT of patching
buy the mithril edition DvD
or you may find a few torrents floating about the WWW if you search for them (again not codemasters installs). but this is the most risky option as you never realy know what your downloading untill youve downloaded it, you also have the risk the installer may also be contaminated with malware, viruses etcBlissfully smoking pipe-weed together on Snowbourn since 14/04/07spend all day smoking pipeweed and dreaming of gold

Re: High Res Client
I would suggest strongly to use the official pando link. I am no fan of pando either, so initially I downloaded the client via pando, then uninstalled pando. Works like a charm and for once, pando absolutely has no other software installed, other than itself. Pando is also not needed for the normal patches, only for the initial download.

Re: High Res Client
You could buy the Mithril edition from a seller that offers a high speed standard FTP download to customers.
With the game being free, Turbine decided they couldn't afford to support the one million - 10 gigabyte software downloads a year via standard FTP. Back in 2010 with the launch of F2P, Turbine switched to a targeted peer to peer bit torrent mechanism called Pando Media Booster that only downloaded and uploads Lotro. That way Turbine's costs are reduced because Turbine is using our PCs to host the files and our internet bandwidth to ship the files to someone else.
You shoud still be able to get an older installer from File Planet via FTP. You going to have a massive patch to be downloaded from the Turbine server to bring the game up to date.

If You Have STEAM....
If you have STEAM then you will not need to download anything else. STEAM provides you with the high-resolution version when you get it from them. All you have to do is just change your Adv Graphics Settings.

High and low resolution have nothing to do with how much monitor space the client uses. High resolution allows for improved visual beauty of the game art inside the 3-d window of the client. Assuming you crank the graphic settings for the game high enough.
Have you tried turning on the full screen option for the game? Set the game resolution to the same size as your desktop. Lotro can be played in full screen. Or you can set it to window mode.

Downloaded the game at late july of 2012 and ive set everything to max (high or very high depending what games allows) along with highest a/a.
Is there really a better mode of game with higher graphics?
ive searched in my lotro directory for client_highres and it came out with nothing.
does it mean i can get a high res client that will gimme much better graphics?

The game wont look any better then your comp will let it. The game also scans your comp and presets the game's graphics based on your comps ability. If the game started in a small windowed mode your comp may not be able to do better. Going full screen with it wont improve the resolution, it may even make it worse; pixelation.
When I first started the game it opened fulll screen at 1920 x 1080.
So at this point what we need is specs on your comp, graphics card, CPU, ram, OS.
