Worried about leveling -> GLFF has no LFF

I've been considering a return to LOTRO. I leveled a warden however the massive bugs and issues in U6 really turned me off to that class. It was bad Pre U6 and now still has a lot of issues (these issues are actual game breaking bugs, not just a weak class).

RK was my other choice and i decided to make one.

Problem is. I log in, play for about an hour and during that period of time I might see one GLFF group looking for members. I have done this multiple times up to level 15ish or whatever I am now at all different hours of the day. GLFF is full of plenty of spam that isn't LFF related.

It seems like if I did bother to level all the way to cap I would find myself sitting around Half afk as no groups are being formed. Or grinding deeds?

Sadly it looks like the Instance Finder tool is still useless. From what I see and even testing it out on my Warden, it will almost never match you with a group.

You can always start your own group. There are many players who are waiting for someone to start one just like you.

Re: Worried about leveling -> GLFF has no LFF

I'm sorry but these aren't helpful responses.

I could do a lot of things... I could this I could that...

I'm talking about what is real. At any given time i'm able to log in and sit for 30 min and read GLFF. I see a lot of random and useless spam and chatter. Once in a blue moon do I see a group looking for players.

I'm wondering if this server is just not a GLFF server? Maybe all grouping is done via Kin only?

Kin is not the answer. I'm not interested in scheduling my life around a video game. I'd like to log in, and find random players to run instances with. I think that is the number one thing everyone fails to accept. I remember back in the day being unemployed and playing MMO's 24/7. I would have said the same thing "Join a guild..."

When the real world hits and you can't reliably log in night after night things change. You need to be able to find groups when you have time to play.

I don't mean to sound harsh or offend anyone but I just don't see myself enjoying LOTRO anymore if it's going to likely be a completely solo experience up to 75 and then a completely solo experience at 75.

In 15 levels (probably about week an half of random playing during all hours of the day and night, I haven't seen the words "skraid LFM" or anything similar in GLFF.

I remember at least 2-3 skraid's being spammed on the server my warden sits...

Maybe this server doesn't use GLFF? Maybe this server is KIN only? Maybe U6 killed things off and people just don't do anything?

Re: Worried about leveling -> GLFF has no LFF

things have slowed down recently, and people don't do many skraids anymore. That being said there's always people forming groups for something at level 75. Sometimes it may take a while, and sometimes it may be a fail pug, but this is a big server and there are plenty of people to group with. Try to make some friends here and you should always have enough people to at least do a 3 man. I see people wanting to do skraids occasionally, but it's definitely not the big thing anymore. Most groups these days are doing RoF or Foundry. You can usually pug these pretty safely, but it is a little hit or miss.

In short, there's plenty of people, and if that's the only thing that's preventing you from leveling, then you shouldn't be too concerned. It has been quieter than usual since the U6 newness has already started wearing off, but there's a group of players that will never leave. Leveling is so quick these days too, so it's not like you're wasting weeks or months getting to 75.

Anyway, whatever you decide to do, best of luck! Have fun!

Kinship MAY not be the answer but finding a good one thats decent sized definitely improves your chances of finding ppl to grp with and ppl to HELP you in whatever way that you need concerning in game leveling. Im sure youre not the only one that has to balance this game around RL =).

Im sure there are some great Kins on this server with members in the same boat as you ....

    Good luck whatever you decide...

It depends on the day too. Some nights GLFF has many groups forming all night. Try a different starter zone. Sometimes the Shire or Eren Luin can be a little dead but Bree will be crowded so jump around a little. Often it's better to look in zone chat to find groups for lower levels.

You defined one type of kin. There are others. I'm thinking the person that suggested you join a kin meant one that suites your playstyle. There are casual kins that do fellowship content together. By no means should you join a raiding kin with your schedule and focus. But a more laid back kin would allow you to log in at your convenience and help you start with a more intiment group of people to try and form groups with.

One of the largest contributers to the lack of GLFF LFF is that people start within their kins. They typically only go to GLFF if they don't have a full group. Joining one of these casual kins (to fit your schedule) would get you in on those kin only runs that never hit GLFF.

This should only get worse and worse as they develop the new instancing tools. At this time, people don't seem to be using them, but I'm hopeful once the tool is complete, that people will.

The best way to get a group is to start one yourself. That way it starts on YOUR schedule, just like you said you wanted.

Ask every couple minutes in GLFF, and also in the LFF channel of a zone with appropriately leveled players, and your fellowship will fill up in no time.

Re: Worried about leveling -> GLFF has no LFF

Honestly, you don't see a whole lot of GLFF posts looking for lvl 17 RKs. Most groups will be at level cap looking for people.

My advice, since you don't seem too keen on finding a Kinship, would be going to Bree and look into /lff. That's where the majority of low levels will be hanging out looking to run the Barrows.

Any given night (Eastern time zone) I will see a couple Dragon raids, a bunch of Skraids and a ToO PUG run. Plus Turtle runs, RoF and some Moria runs. Most good groups are Kin runs, but there are usually a few that are looking to PUG in a couple people to get things moving. Just work your way through the chatter and they are there. Try /ignore on some of the more pointless people that post if they just bother you. That will clear things up considerably.

I suggest you start to learn your healing skills too, that will really help your chances to get into a group on a RK.

Quite a few groups forming in GLFF< problem is they are all for high end content. You dont really level by grouping unless you play with friends. Plenty to do, questing gives you WAY more exp then you need to level, epic line and on top of that Skirmishes.
But yeah,if you are looking for group play at lower levels...that just not difficult to find, unless yo play with friends. There is just very little reason for that.

This annoys me to no end. If I'm in GLFF, it's because I want to find a group, not to have my chatlog filled with inane hour long discussions about bacon or unfunny Chuck Norris jokes.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind chat. Sometimes I'll happily sit in Bree and chat in OOC myself, but I'll use the appropriate channel to do it. If you really want to reach the entire server there's a GOOC channel for that. Use it. It lets the rest of us who want to play ignore you by never joining the channel, and leaves GLFF for people who are actually LFF.

With Brandywine being such a large server and GLFF the only widely known chat channel that people know is frequented...I would assume that this is pretty typical. That doesn't stop me from using it as an LFF channel though...just that it stays on a different tab off my main screen. That said I have to say that LFF in the area that I'm in normally works better when leveling. The only time that I find need for GLFF is when I'm scrounging for 75ers to come skirm or run an instance and the person willing to come could be standing anywhere.
