I been trying to get a friend on her laptop and everytime i redownload it, kept saying missing wevtapi.dll file. So im not sure if that have something to do with directx or netframe, etcs. She running on Vista 64bit and believe she have all the requirement needs to run the game. I remember trying to do this for her over a year ago and didnt work.
I have also checked the knowledge base and using search keyword, none came through. So i dont know if this is something new here.

if your only getting this error while trying to run the lotro downloader then tryinstalling the pando media booster from here. http://cdn.pandonetworks.com/pando/pmb/PMBInstSafe.exe
then reinstall the file you downloaded and resme the download
but wevtapi appears to be a windows dll, not part of directX, dotnet or lotro the error your getting suggests the install of windows has a problem[/quote]
first place id suggest starting is to scan the pc for viruses and malware
run ccleaner to clear any references to webvtapi.dll, if you can id suggest running a registry repair tool
if you have the windows install disk to hand from an administrator command prompt type "sfc/ scannow" this should attempt to find any corrupt files and replace them with the orriginal copy, if sfc replces any files you will need to re-install any service packs and reinstall any windows updates
if that fails you need to reinstall windows
if this problem only occurs while downloading lotro then the simplest option is to copy your install onto the pc with the problem, run both dotnet 1.1 installers and turbineregistergdf.exe from the lotro folder

Well i search Microsoft and yes have something to do with Operation System, either its corrupted or missing. Anyway i asked her if she wanted me to format, since got something fishy in her drive and doesnt alway run programs correctly. I keep telling her watchout what site you visit, so many malware and spywares going on.
So she wanted me to go ahead and clean it, best way is format it and start over lol. This laptop will be Windows XP and believe its 32bit, would be better for her than Win Vista 64bit.

Thank you
good luck with that, if the laptop came with vista then chances are you wont find any XP drivers for it.
its entirely your decision which OS you choose to install but you will find Vista is more secure

The laptop came from rentacenter along with XP, believe it or not she got ripped off big time. So peoples please dont buy anything from rentacenter unless you want to waste money. Unfort rentacenter will not help her or even fix the problems awhile back when i first moved here.
I formatted the drive along with my Vista and didnt want to go back to fat32 and stick with what i had, just plain formatting and reinstall Vista. All went well and now i gotta figured out how to get her laptop to identify wireless internet, its tricky and she never kept her records on username/pass. It will work direct hookup on the internet, but not the wireless to router. I have her call Timewarner and see if they can give me the user/pass online for IPS settings. Or they can come in person and do it themselve lol.
Okay now i got the wireless router setup for internet and now need to figured out what video chipset she have in her laptop. The Win Vista gave her standard VGA on device and went online for latest driver, telling me that i have the latest driver. On DirectX test showing no 3D support or even the company brand name on the chipset. I contact Dell and they wanted money upfront lol. So i need to figured out what chipset it is so i can locate the driver for it, even the Bios doesnt say anything.
