    Same problem here...all my vault items are gone and the size back to 30 each. Shared vault seems to be ok though. Recommended fixes didnt work, naturally.

    Same problem for me as well. Just returned after 2yrs break and my vault is completely empty and reset to 30 slot boxes.

    I want my stuff back asap please turbine. Non of your fixes work, seems like you have a bug that you don't know the cause of or solution for that is affecting alot of people.

    Back to check on progress - nothing useful appears to have been added. The progression is very poor.

    First it is the user's modem conection. Riiiiiiight....

    Then it is a UI Skin. Oh yeeeaaahhhhhh....

    But isn't it funny that it is *never ever* a Turbine problem?

    Future suggestions may include:
    - wearing a tin-foil hat and rubber gloves while you operate the controls
    - nasty activities with black chickens, sharp knives and marble altars

    Watching with interest as WB/T squirm and wriggle to get out of what is very obviously a technical issue.

    BTW - no surprise that none of the modem reset suggestions had the slightest impact on the probem.

    My initial thought was that something had changed in the data structures and though the data may be in the local user file (somewhere) it can, for technical reasons, no longer be read. But that is just complete speculation.

    In the interest of correlation:

    - Geographic Location: London, UK
    - Name of your ISP: British Telecom
    - How you connect to the internet: vDSL (50mb FTC Connection)
    - Do you connect using wireless or a wired connection: Wired connection from my PC to my vDSL Hub

    *sigh* I know you're frustrated over this. You're not alone on that. But you're also taking it on the wrong people and in the wrong way. You've no clue what they're doing on their end to also try and track it down, but while they are working on their end, they are also asking people with the problem to do some things on their end to help eliminate possibilities to help them track down what the real issue is.

    Your last statement is a great example of not having a clue yourself what's going on, or why they are doing what they are doing. Quite simply, it's not the data files on your computer. It's that your computer is not receiving the data from their computers. It has nothing to do with the local user file as there is NO information about your characters, their vaults, inventory, etc that is stored on your computer.

    What they are trying to ascertain is whether this has to do with the data from their center not getting to your computer, or whether or not that data has ceased to exist on their end, and why. So while they are looking on their end, they are asking people with the problem to do steps to make sure that all of the data is getting through to their computers, to make sure there isn't something like a modem or connection that is dropping the info packets with the inventory data. And while people are doing that and reporting back, they'll continue to work on their side as well.

    You're also likely not seeing any report back because they likely don't have anything to report back yet. Assuming it's a bug, it's going to likely take some time to track down what's causing it, and why it's so random and sporadic- even on the same account. When they have something to say about it, then they'll repost and say something. In the meantime you can already see they are working on it so give them time.

    Just want to add my voice here; I've put in an in-game ticket to see if my bank vaults can be restored. I am going to be extremely disappointed if I have lost my hoard of loot.

    I've been away from the game for somewhere between 1 and 2 years -- LOTRO went free-to-play after I discontinued my subscription, and my account was downgraded. I logged in a few times over the last 2 days before restoring my account to VIP, although I didn't check my vault during that period. None of my characters have ever been moved across servers.

    I've checked across two servers (Vilya and Nimrodel) and several characters, but the result is always the same: vault reduced to 30 slots and empty. Character inventory is fine.

    I'm in Oregon, using Qwest (CenturyLink) DSL, with a wired connection to my router. I've reset my connection as suggested, and attempted to log in and wait before interacting or moving. None had any effect.

    I appreciate any help the Turbine staff can provide: I'll start from scratch if I have to, but if this can be resolved, it will make my return to Middle-Earth much more pleasant.

    Happened to me yesterday. Logged on after 8 months off... I'm a pre-beta, founder, lifer with 2 subs. Anyway, I log in and tinking around, checking out the new doodads, etc... and I'm looking at wardrobe and see my Dungeon-Crawlers Hood in Set 1 but not in inventory, so I figure it is in my vault... so silly me I test it and take off and bam disappears. So I run to vault to see if it is in there ... NO! Nothing is in my vault ... and down to 30 spaces. ###!

    I had purchased most if not all the extra Vault space on my mains before this game went F2P. Now everything is missing... all my epic gear, raid tokens, epic crafting mats... were not just talking 30 vault items missing, there must have been 100+ items in my mains vault. This was all my prized possessions and I put them in the vault for a reason... to keep safe. What a bummer!

    So, I put in my ticket and mention the above issues... and do you know what the GM says to me... "You know you can't put wardrobe in your inventory, etc...." ROFL! Typical, change the subject of me losing all my vault space and items and key in on the wardrobe. I giggled to myself... Then the GM gave me the same copy and paste message.. "We have to take this to the next level and will contact you by email if blah, blah. blah..."

    You are not alone and I had 4+ years worth of real nice treasure in my vaults. All down the tubes... thats 4 years of my life, I don't have any real life money to show for it as I was filling up my lotro coffers. Now, I'm double screwed... no RL Money and no Fantasy Loot.

    Where's the razorblades... ;(

    I wanted to pop back in, re: my previous response in this thread, we are looking into the reports of this and just want to make sure that you put in a ticket with the Account Support Team via the ticket submission form. Detail the following items in that ticket submission (remember to include a screenshot of at least one characters vault, shared vault as I detailed at the bottom of my previous reply):

    1) The character(s) name(s)
    2) The world server(s) they reside on
    3) A "best guess" as to when they were last logged in (before you noticed this) e.g. how long roughly
    4) The screenshot image I mentioned above.

    Just a quick follow-up for people who have this problem or will have it in the future: make sure you include a list of all of the characters affected. Turbine sent all of my lost items to my in-game mailbox, but only for the character I was on when I submitted the ticket. I'm now submitting a second ticket listing all of my alts so their items can be restored as well.

    I was relieved to see that my hard-earned loot wasn't gone forever, though. Thanks to the Turbine staff, even though it means a lot of trips back and forth between my vault and the mailbox!

    Just out of curiosity Xzazaril, did they restore your vault capacity along with the items that they mailed to you? Otherise, I have no idea where I could even PUT all the items mailed

    I submitted a tech support ticket per Mirthgar's instructions (I could not find a suitable subject in the pull-down list if I chose the Account/Billing Support forums).

    They did not. I had to re-purchase my bag slots. They gave me a ####-ton of Turbine Points to upgrade my bags, but since I already had a VIP account, what I really needed was in-game gold, not real money. Luckily, I'm pretty good at conserving my money, and I had enough to purchase the space I needed.

    If you have a character slot or two open to create a mule, that may help. I think I may need to do that when they restore my alts (which I'm still waiting on).

    On the other hand, they gave me enough Turbine Points that I can go crazy in the store. So although my inventory is going to be a mess for a while, I'm not all that disgruntled.

    Oh, and I wasn't sure what to select in the ticket drop-down either. I chose 'free to play - general'. We'll see where that gets me :-)

    Im also in the process of dealing with in-game support on this issue. Its been about two weeks..last update I got they said they had a fix but needed to log me in to do it. AFAIK that hasnt happened yet but I expect it to happen soon...I will update here when its done.

    I'm getting close to a resolution, but it's been over two weeks and I'm pretty frustrated with the way this was all handled. I currently have vault space back for most of my characters, and items back for most of my characters, but one character still has reduced vault space, and one character still hasn't had items restored.

    I've been bounced back and forth between the billing teams and the in-game help team, and it all seems rather unnecessary. The in-game team fixed one character; when I told them I had multiple characters affected, they directed me to the billing team. The billing team told me they had resolved the problem; when I discovered one of my characters had been overlooked, they told me to open a ticket with the in-game team. Then the in-game team escalated my ticket. Why all the bouncing around?

    If one team had taken ownership of this problem, it could've been resolved long ago. I'm not saying I understand the technicalities of the issue, but the customer service has been extremely disappointing. I'm also not going to nerd-rage here in the forums, but I do want to warn people that resolution of this issue will likely not be a quick-and-easy process. Get ready for a struggle.

    Well, it took a while, but once customer support grabbed on to my problem, they have been nothing but helpful, courteous, and professional. I am not a fanboi, but I really have to complement the people in the back room for the effort that they put in to fix this problem.

    All my vault capacities were recovered (and I suspect that a few of them were made even bigger than they were originally). Plus they gave me some extra TP to make sure I got everything back where it was.

    All my items were restored except for one alt. When I emailed them about the one character, they thought they had it fixed. WHen they found out they had not, I received a resonse (and a fix in the works) almost right away. I finally have the feeling that they are really trying to make this problem go away as best they can. I'm sure if not all is resolved, they will do whatever they can to make me whole.

    I'm glad you had a good experience. It makes me believe that this was truly a nasty technical problem, and the delays in getting it fixed were just because it took a while to sort it out (and not because of poor communications between support teams as I suggested earlier). Hopefully they can track down the source of the problem so that nobody else has to worry about their stuff disappearing. Because it is SCARY.

    I can also say that my problem has now been fully resolved. I also had one alt who appeared to have been overlooked, but everyone has their stuff back now, and I can go about my business... of... y'know, collecting more stuff.

    I am back and attempting to get this problem solved once and for all with my account. I am not getting anywhere. All my vault space is gone and all items in my vaults are gone. They claim they gave me LOTRO Turbine Points to buy back the vault space and they did NOT. They just responded to my ticket today saying my account WAS NOT compromised.... I already knew that, as did they.

    I am being thanked for my patience each time they respond but I am sad to say my patience in this matter died 2 months ago. This is my last ditch effort to try and finally get this Turbine data loss issue with my account resolved. I had things in my vaults that are no longer obtainable ingame.

    Please, help me with this.

    Lifetime Membership since 2008... I had a lot of items in those vaults.

    These are all high level crafters...

    I am currently making out 15 bug reports for the 15 characters on the 5 servers affected (My Main and high level crafters are all affected by this). I have 6 characters on 2 servers that are not affected. Yes, I have a lot of alts... why else would I be a Lifetime Member?
