Vault Items Not Loading!
I haven't played this game for a really long time and decided to check it out again about a week ago. I logged into two of my characters and checked there vaults. The game downloaded my vault information on those characters fine. So now a week has passed and I'm logging into a few of my alts and when I go to there vaults it skips the loading process really fast and shows my vault as empty and with only 30 slots. I know my vaults are not empty. Is this a problem with the server or are my vault inventory's gone?

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
There is a possibility that your account got hacked and someone removed everything form your vault. I mean if it was all there a few days ago and it now isn't anymore, there is nothing else i can think of.
I had this once and a simple client restart helped.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I dont think its a simple case of my account getting hacked. You see I'm sure I had purchased chest upgrades with coin in the past and those are reset as well. Its as if my information is gone. Like I said, I'm back at the 30 slot default again. And the characters I accessed my vault with a few days ago, they're inventory's are fine. If this is a server error turbine needs to repair/restore my data. I've tried restarting a few times but no luck.
Also this is only affecting my VAULT my normal bag inventory's are fine across all characters.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
Am I understanding you correctly when you say that the vault is fine on 2 of your characters and not on some other alts? If that is the case, maybe you never purchased the vault upgrades with those alts? Since every alt has its own vault and needs to upgrade it.
However if all of your characters have an empty vault and you are sure you have put stuff in there, its time to send turbine a ticket so they can solve the issue.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I have the same problem, and on two seperate accounts as well. I also just re-downloaded the game after a long break. I remember the vault being different before so I thought something may have occured from the addition of the wardrobe and shared vault that caused the data to be lost.

Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I had an interesting thing happen. I have played on several servers (five year closed beta founder here). I have a lot of alts on Windfola, but had not played there for over a year. I recently logged in to play with some old RL friends on the server. I soon found all my alts on Windfola had nothing, nada in their vaults. In addition, all my vaults had only 30 slots, even though most alts on Windfola were level 65 SM craftsmen, and had enough gold to afford at least the 45 silver to upgrade the vault (lol).
All the gold was there, and even my shared slots were there (with mithril flakes, and shards, along with other easily sold stuff). So I wasn't hacked. The cosmetic slots were empty as well.
My vaults with other alts on Riddermark and Gladden (even longer since I played on Gladden) were fine. Everyting there. I filed a ticket, explaining the problem. I got a response saying that they would have to look into it and would email me.
Today I got a "ticket closed" response, since my "account was not compromised". Duh. I told them that.
I filed a second ticket, yelling a lot, and had a GM contact me fast in game (within a minute or two). I talked to him and he said he would escalate. I quickly got a tell from a "senior GM" name -+Geneva+ almost immediately.
Geneva told me they had logs only 7 days back, and there was nothing he could do. Surprise there! He told me that there had NEVER been a report with these symptoms before.
I told him that my wife reported the same thing yesterday (and gave him the ticket number). My son's account on Windfola has the same problem. The GM responded with silence.
I hate not only having this problem, but being blatently lied to by a senior GM is just in excuseable.
I digress. Has anyone seen this symptom? I can't believe that our family had 3 out of 3 accounts with this problem and that no one else has ever seen it.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
Same problem here... on Silverlode server, everyone of my characters on Silverlode is affected, all vaults are empty and reduced to 30 slots. All of my other characters on other servers do not have the issue. I am currently reinstalling the game to see if it fixes the problem.
No response yet from my ingame tickets on the issue and I did call Turbine support who said to send the ticket in as a compromised account issue. This is not a compromised account issue, period. Vault space cannot simply be deleted.
UPDATE* Reinstalling the game did not resolve this issue.
I am also a Lifer, I wonder if that has anything to do with this?Last edited by CopsBrat; Mar 26 2012 at 10:17 PM.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
From what I am reading here we BOTH filed our complaint tickest with "ingame" support. In addition, I phoned Turbine about this problem, who again directed me right back to ingame support.
Just checked all my other servers and characters,
Nimrodel - 1 character (2 characters missing) - down to 30 vault slots per character, all items gone and 80 slot shared vault space still there but all items gone
Arkenstone - 2 characters - same problem as above
Silverlode - 7 characters - same problem as above
Brandywine - 3 characters same problem as above
Elemdilmir - 3 characters - same problem as above
Vilya - 4 characters - additonal vault space, 80 slot shared space and wardrobe intact and items still intact as well (nothing changed)
Landroval - 3 characters - additonal vault space, 80 slot shared space and wardrobe intact and items intact as well (nothing changed)Last edited by CopsBrat; Mar 26 2012 at 11:45 PM.

No. And you didn't have to post this three times (and none of them are even in the account / technical support forum..).

Sorry but I have not posted anything three times. And I do realize this is not in the technical support area, we are having a discussion between ourselves, as in General Discussion.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
A blatent lie would be quoting a ticket that your wife put in that was also handed by +Geneva+.
If someone else handled your wife's ticket then Geneva could easily be telling the truth. There is no way anyone that works as a Game Master could know the contents of every ticket. The best you could stick Geneva for is leaving out "that I know of" in her response. Any reasonable person does not need that disclaimer.
My question to you - Did Geneva handle the other tickets?
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I have the same problem.
Nimrodel - 1 character (2 characters missing) - down to 30 vault slots per character, all items gone and 80 slot shared vault space still there but all items gone
Arkenstone - 2 characters - same problem as above
Silverlode - 7 characters - same problem as above (Main located here and all of my high level crafters)
Brandywine - 3 characters same problem as above
Elemdilmir - 3 characters - same problem as above
Vilya - 4 characters - additonal vault space, 80 slot shared space and wardrobe intact and items still intact as well (nothing changed)
Landroval - 3 characters - additonal vault space, 80 slot shared space and wardrobe intact and items intact as well (nothing changed)
I am sick to my stomach right now. There was a lot of work in those characters and a lot of work in the items I had earned to fill my vaults as well.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I am trying something different this time. I found my backup of my Shadows of Angmar digital download from 2008, yeah 2008... I tend to keep things around a while. Anyway, I wiped the recent install of LOTRO off my machine, cleaned up after it and now I am installing from Shadows of Angmar. The characters that are affected in this vault problem were my early characters in the game. I am nto sure if this will help at all but figured it was worth a try.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I know this isn't a technical discussion, more info gathering, but I wonder if it's a "lag"/connection issue?
IE, accessing the stuff in your vault requires connecting to the game servers, and getting info sent to display by your client.
Reinstalling the game has no affect on that in any way, shape, or form.
However lost packets DO affect that, a bad internet connection, stuff like that. Ever have a debuff put on you that you couldn't pot and would just not go away until you relogged? That's your client not getting the message that effect is done (I have presumed).
This sounds more like your client is not getting the info on what is there. The reason I'm guessing that is because other family members on the same connection (presumably) are having the same issue.
So the question becomes, for this theory, are there common connection issues with folks experiencing this?

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I know this might sound silly but one time I freaked out when going to vault because my entire vault was empty! Just that same day I had a full vault 120/120. I was so scared i thought i must have been hacked, and was about to create a ticket, when i noticed i had forgotten to clear the search field of all letters.
Because the search field has a letter still, it caused the vault to appear empty.
I know this is silly but maybe someone here has done this same mistake?

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
yes a long time ago, on a server I had not been on in months, all low level characters so I didn't really care. I barely remember the complexity of the issue - I know next to nothing about computers - but resetting my modem fixed it. It took me weeks of talking to both Turbine and my internet company before they finally convinced me the problem was on my end. (who can blame me for not believing them?) I'm ashamed of myself for getting so upset at that one customer service rep but really - why on earth would it make sense that the problem is on MY end when all other characters on other servers were OK? It WAS something about packet loss and firewalls and whatnot - don't remember the details but the solution was just to reset the modem so it's worth a try. Maybe it's your lucky day and you'll get the easy fix too.
Oh, and to the customer service person who was so patient with me years ago - I still cringe when I think about yelling at you. Sorry.

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I sure hope that one of the different suggestions given here by other players work for Beecay and his family but know that they have not worked for me. My router was reset once by my ISP and once by myself. I have reinstalled the game twice now, I am computer literate, advanced in problem solving and this has me stumped.
This isn't a hack, this is an odd glitch or a loss of data on Turbines end... my reasoning behind this statement... you cannot delete paid for/upgraded Vault Slots from your account. My paid for/upgraded (bursting at the seams) Vault slots are gone (or rather reduced to 30 slots) as well as every item they held but my bags on each character are untouched and all items still intact within them.
This is not a happy welcome back to the game after a 10 month leave. Extremely frustrating and still no response from ingame support.
Tired here, not sure how much more I want to put back into this.
Best of Luck to you and I hope you get to enjoy the game!

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game is NOT going to have any sort of affect on a problem like this. That's simply a waste of time.
There's a couple of possibilities. One that's already been touched on in the thread is that for some reason information from their servers (where the vaults and character info is stored) is not getting fed beck to your computer. That could be lag spikes, packet loss, or some other problem with your connection where information is not coming through.
It's possible as well that there is something in your filters that is causing things to be hidden, but I doubt that would be it.
The other possibility is that there is a problem on their end with the database, where it no longer has the information on what was in your vault and what wasn't. My uneducated opinion is that it's something along this lines- especially since some long unused characters have only 3 bags, which is what f2p players start with. It sounds like, for some reason, that characters on a server that hasn't been used in quite a while might have "regressed" with teh f2p conversion, or something along those lines. Why or how, I don't have a clue.
But that's not something that in game GM's are going to be able to do anything with or about. That's way beyond their abilities. It's something that the tech support tickets are going to have to look at, try to figure out what it is, and how (if?) there is a way to fix it. GM's are usually not even going to be aware of a lot of those tickets or issues since they are not things that they deal with.
I'd follow up on the tickets you filed.New forums are coming!! Goto this link for details

Empty Bank Vaults!
1. No my account has not been hacked.
2. Let me repeat that: No, my account has not been hacked.
Background:
Like many players I have a "main" realm on which I play most of the time and "secondary" realms where I have various other toons. These secondary toons may go many months between visitis.
Reading through some posts in the General forum I came across reports of poeple claiming that they had logged into little used realms only to find their Vaults (Bank and Shared) completely empty and (often) resized to the F2P level.
Having just checked toons on little used realms, not logged into for in excess of six months, I can confirm that I am a victim of exactly this bug.
There is no dooubt that such an event is a bug. There is a fairly well undertood pathology to it and an easily defined effect.
I have little doubt that Turbine will come up with all sorts of excuses as to why this isn't their problem and why it is something else entirely etc., but regardless of that I know that Turbine have emptied my Vaults for me without my knowledge. They have deleted, or lost, my data.
I am absolutely disgusted by this ineptitude.< This signature for rent, payable in TP to offset the cost of the new Pay2Win culture. >

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I have exactly this problem.
Lifetime Sub.
Main realm Bank & Shared Vaults are fine.
Secondary realm (not visited for approx 10 months) Bank & Shared Vaults completely empty.
Hard to see that this coule be client side. Looks like Turbine have lost my data. Thanks WB/T.< This signature for rent, payable in TP to offset the cost of the new Pay2Win culture. >

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
To the OP: A few of my characters have experienced temporary loss of all vault items, with the vault completely blank. Seeing that did make my heart sink, so I feel your pain. Assuming it was just a glitch, I relogged the character and presto! the vault opened completely intact. phew.
It's my understanding that all vault data is held server-side, so reinstalling the game seems like a move that wouldn't help in any way, though I understand the frustration that would lead one to do that. My advice would be to continue to pursue the in-game tickets. Good luck to everyone who's experienced this issue!

Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
I once had half of my stuff gone from my inventory, on all my chars.
I am not so sure if the vault was affected.
Restarting the game didn't help.
I had my account locked for hacking, but it turned out differently
After I played on a f2p account and also there most of the stuff was missing, I realised that I was not hacked.
After restarting the computer I got all the stuff back.
There probably was a temp file somewhere on my PC or a memory leak in Lotro's runtime causing items to disappear. Restarting the computer solved the problem.
-
Mar 27 2012 01:45 PM #29
Re: Anyone else ever lose everyting in their vault?
Just to reiterate here, restarting your computer does nothing for it. It is NOT due to a memory leak, a problem with Lotro's runtime on your computer, or anything at all to do with the Lotro files on your computer at all. None of your character's details- including gear, vaults, storage, shared storage, etc., are stored on your computer. They are all stored on Turbine's servers, so doing things like that won't make them suddenly appear.
The problem resides in whether or not your computer is receiving the data from Turbine's servers (and possible whether or not that data is there for them to send to you). It may not show up as a result of a bad connection, communications not happening right between their servers and your computer, or some other form of data loss, in which case logging out and in should fix that. If it's actually data missing/ lost on their end, that means that it is something they have to fix in their data files.
Again, it has NOTHING to do with the files on your computer, the game installation on your end, restarting your computer, or anything at all like that.New forums are coming!! Goto this link for details

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I have merged these threads in order for better clarity.
To any and all experiencing this a list of steps to confirm/try and info to provide is below.
First:
Ensure that you are logging into the correct Turbine Account, choosing the correct subscription on that account and selecting the correct world server. Each of these is what your character and its items/upgrade status's are all based on, if any one of these is not correct you could be accessing the wrong account, subscription, world server or character.
Second:
This can be connection related. The data that the game client loads from the local system for your vault (Icons, text etc) all is loaded locally, however the server sends all of that data (what to load) to the game client. If anything affects that inbound connection it can cause the vault and similar dialogs to delay in opening. To test for that I'm going to recommend the following:- Start by power cycling your router and/or modem (unplug them, wait 10 to 20 seconds, then plug them back in)
- After they have reset also reboot the computer.
- Click on the Windows "Start" button and then click on "All Programs" > "Accessories"
- In the menu find the "Command Prompt" icon and right-click it choosing Run as Administrator*
(Note: On Windows XP just left-click the "Command Prompt" icon) - On the Command Prompt window that comes up type this command:
"ipconfig /flushdns" (no quotes) and hit enter.
Let me know what you find after all of the above.
Third:
In your replies I also ask that you include the following:
- Geographic Location (city and/or state is fine)
- Name of your ISP
- How you connect to the internet (e.g. Cable/DSL, Dialup Satellite, Public or Residential Wireless etc)?
- Do you connect using wireless or a wired connection?
This can help to narrow down some and try to correlate any similarities.-Helpful Turbine Support Links-Turbine Support | Knowledgebase | How to Get Help on the Tech Forums | Common Tech Issues | New Player HelpNote: The Customer Support forums are for Player-to-Player help, for official support, please submit a ticket to the appropriate team via the form here.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
First of all, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, after following all your steps (incuding a 6 minute wait, just for good luck), the same symptoms:
1) The Vault is empty
2) Number of vault slots has been reset to 30
3) Shared slots are intact
4) All items in cosmetic vault are gone. I never increased the size, so I don't know if the size was reset.
5) Gold is still there, as well as marks and medallions
My location is Syracuse, NY. ISP is Time Warner Road Runner, I am on a cable modem. The connection is wired.
Other facts that appeared before in this thread, but are repeated here to be complete:
1) This has happened only on Windfola. My account is fine on Riddermark and Gladden
2) I started a new character on Windfola on Sunday, 3/24/07. I have used the vault and have had no problem.
3) I placed an item in the shared cosmetic vault on Windfola and can retrieve it normally
4) This has happened with three accounts: mine, my wife's and my son's.
Again, thanks for your help Mirthgar

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
Followed First, Second and now Third steps to your instructions... Still that same issue.
Southeast Iowa
Mediacom Ultra 50 Mbps down, 5 Mbps up
Cable
Wired Connection
Router/Modem Cisco DPC3825 (wireless capabilities but have wireless disabled)
I have added rules in the router for the LOTRO connection hoping that would resolve this as well.
I am at a total loss right now, I simply cannot think of anything else to try on my end.
NOTE: Ingame support has closed my ticket and asked that I report this problem as a Bug.. I was one step ahead of them.. I reported it as a Bug yesterday evening.
What I find odd about this is all my on person bags are still there and nothing missing, only my Vault has been reduced to 30 slots and now empty, my shared stands at 80 slots and empty and my wardrobe is at 20 an empty. This is on my Main Characters server, Silverlode... believe me when I say she had purchsed all the slots the game allows for a Lifetime Member. Alll my stuff... waaaaa. =*(

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
OP here, Wow, I was busy for a day or two and it looks like this thread really took off! Its good to know I'm not the only one having this problem, at least I'm not a crazy person.
Just a few points to clarify some things.
- I'm a beta player w/ a lifetime membership.
- I'm 31 years old. I got my first computer when I was 10. It was an NEC.
(Needless to say that means I'm very experienced.)
- My account was not hacked.
- My account was not hacked.
- MY ACCOUNT WAS NOT HACKED!
- Two characters I accessed a little over a week ago were able to download there vault information.
- My seven other characters I recently logged into currently can not download there vault information.
- There was some patching of my game when I logged in three days ago.
(I'm going to make the assumption that turbine messed something up.)
- I have not put in an in game ticket.
(I feel as if that's a dead end but I'm considering it.)
I just bought a house irl and I'm really busy but I'm gonna check this thread once a day from now on.
[EDIT: I put in a bug report and a ticket, lets see what happens. I hate writing these things.]
[EDIT 2: I wanted to add a few things...
- I live in the USA.
- My ISP is Cablevision Optonline. (www.optonline.net)
- I have a cable internet connection. 50mbps/6MBPS
- I connect wireless.
- My characters are on Gladden
- My bag inventory's are NOT affected across all characters.
- My shared inventory is NOT affected across all characters.
- My gold is NOT affected across all characters.]
[Edit 3: I don't have time right now to follow the steps in Mirthgar's post but I will try them later and post my results here.]Last edited by stank2k; Mar 28 2012 at 08:50 AM.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I have gone back through everyone of my characters on all my servers.. one thing in common with this vault problem seems to be ... the characters and servers affected are those that I had NOT purchased anything from the LOTRO store on. Everything on my Main character and her alts were items I earned in-game over 3 years, I had no need to purchase additonal vault space on her.
I abandoned my Main's house today on Silverlode server at 6 Long Street, wondering if the past escrow due may have caused this problem. Nope, didn't help a bit. All my things are still gone and my vaults reduced in size, though I do now have all my houses belongings sitting in escrow (which I am unable to store), so I guess I know that works.
I have also noticed another thing in common with this problem.. all Events and Festival Tokens are gone as well, nothing but coin in my wallets for all the characters affected.
Also note: All my characters from low level to High level have another thing in common, they all have a cloak added to their inventory bags...Cloak of the Peace-Keeper. I would like that explained to me, why would a level 59 created many years ago suddenly have such a low level cloak in her on person inventory along with all her alts created so long ago as well.
One additional similarity between most but not all of my characters, quickbar #4, they are all missing the last box of the bar.
I know I am missing more than I am seeing, I have purchased additonal character slots in the past as well. I should have taken more frequent and more thorough screenshots, I had no idea something like this would have ever happened.
That is all I have now. I am at a loss. I have two servers I can play on now, Landroval and Vilya... all very low level characters on each. These are the two servers that I purchased LOTRO store items from in the past.
I paid a lot of money a few years ago to have all my Characters and my daughters characters moved to Silverlode server, this makes me sick.

I would like that explained to me, why would a level 59 created many years ago suddenly have such a low level cloak in her on person inventory along with all her alts created so long ago as well.
This was from the EU migration, since each got a different set of pre-order/founder etc items the characters were re-granted them with the EU version and the NA versions upon login after the EU migration to Turbines systems.
One additional similarity between most but not all of my characters, quickbar #4, they are all missing the last box of the bar.
This might be if:a) You are using a customized third party "skin" for the Lotro UI that has not been updated, if you are using a custom skin on those characters (Options > UI setttings) I would recommend disabling it and reverting to the default UI to test.
(Of special note: a third party UI skin can cause panels in the UI such as Vault/Shared Vault to display improperly. Since skins are enabled on a per-character basis this may be why only some are showing issues, if they are configured to use an old UI skin that's still installed they would still be able to load it.)
b) There is another UI item covering the last button, press and hold Ctrl and then press "\" (backslash) this will allow you to move UI items around via their grab handles/bars. See if moving the quickslot bar in question has any effect
c) You are using a full screen resolution different from a previous login and the bars are off screen somewhat or occluded by another UI item, use the steps from b) to test that.
d) You have the UI Scales lowered.
Open Options > UI Settings and click the "Default' button as a test for a through d on these affected characters.
I paid a lot of money a few years ago to have all my Characters and my daughters characters moved to Silverlode server
I would also recommend putting in a request with our Account Support Team here, they can take a look at the account/subscription side of things in a much more thorough way than I can on the forums.
Some things to highlight in your ticket details would be:
Were the affected characters part of a server to server move?
Has your account been in a non-VIP state at all e.g. downgraded to Premium or Free at any point?
Also try to include a 'screenshot' of the vault in your ticket (there's an attach files option). To take one get the character to their vault, open the vault/shared vault/wardrobe and press the "Print Screen" key (pntscn). The game will save a jpg screenshot image file into your "Documents" (or "My Documents" on XP) > "The Lord of the Rings Online" folder. Use the attach files on the submit a ticket form to include that picture.Last edited by Mirthgar; Mar 28 2012 at 02:33 PM.

Re: Vault Items Not Loading!
I am really not sure how long the vault bug has been around. I won a lottery on 3/7/2012 with an alt on Windfola (Lottery of the Depths, Scorden, level 53 warden). I am pretty sure that I logged in the character and picked up my mail - I logged him in tonight and he has no mail (and of course an empty vault with 30 slot capacity).
I can't remember exactly what I won, but I believe I put the stuff in the bank. There are no "recent" additions to my bags, and the stuff would have dropped into bag 1 since that bag is basically empty.. Even the level 15 warden quest shield that they re-sent with the EU migration is there. But nothing else from a lottery. I almost certainly won an LI experience rune since all the higher level lotteries include one or more of these, and there are no runes in my bags - I would have thrown this into the bank for later.
Now, if I put the stuff I won in the bank, I would have noticed that everything was gone right then. But I never saw this lost vault symptom untill later. I suspect that the bug occured more recently, most likely with Update 666 as it is fondly called on these forums.
Hopefully this means that someone can actually look at backups that are only a few weeks old, and see if affected accounts actually did have vault contents until very recently.Last edited by Beecay; Mar 28 2012 at 07:17 PM.
