Thread: Are you an LoM Captain?

I have been a hard core 5y Captain since the release of ROI. This must be rare indeed since I have not seen any other Captains traited this way. Are there any other hard core LoM Captains out there? I would love to compare notes!

I'm a fairly casual player (don't do much raiding, haven't soloed the Limlight Gorge creatures, etc.), but I trait 5 LoM. I do lots of fellowship/small fellowship stuff with friends, in addition to soloing.

I love 2H block, and having the effects of Shield Brother (with legacy for +20% incoming healing) applied to myself is a nice plus. Having two force taunts and better Noble Mark threat than pre-ROI is great for tanking. LoM feels like the best balance for filling any role at any time without retraiting.

If you're not traiting HoH you might as well trait LtC. LoM is the least useful trait line atm.

I was not asking if you think it is useful. There are plenty of threads that state what traitlines are "best" and most of the elite captains believe using any capstone is silly, and HoH is the most pointless of any competent group. I am not a cookie cutter captain, my best build is in fact rainbow. However I happen to really enjoy yellow line and it does add a lot to a group. I would like to find other Captains out there who use it, to compare notes.

For Captains, as it is for many other classes, your trait line is mainly dependent upon what your group composition is (permitting you are in a group) and what you all will be doing, whether it be skirms, 6-mans, or hardcore raiding. I, myself enjoy the HoH line primarily because of who I group with and what we do. I understand that in a raid, in the end, even with the proper gear, and going red line, I won't even come close to the same amounts of DPS as my other group members will. Therefore, because I build my captain around a raid, I rule Lead the Charge out (of raids at least, now for solo Lead the Charge is primary). I did recently try LoM in a raid, but quickly ruled it out. There just isn't a huge benefit from LoM since they introduced FellowShip brother as it's own individual Legendary trait. With that said, because again I build around a raid, HoH seems to be the most beneficial to my group. Going 5 blue, with HoH, and 2 yellow yields the best amount of DPS capabilities for my group, while maintaining a balance that allows me to help keep the group alive. It isn't even necessary to trait LoM if you are wanting to tank. I tank Saruman, and numerous adds in T2 ToO (when necessary) just fine in HoH.

I feel like I am the only captain left on the server who is traited for LOM. I do not believe that it is less useful than the other specs, its just harder to do well. LOM is designed for being a good off tank in my opinion. Many people who group with me say that i can tank better on my capt than some guards or wardens. My job is to make sure that the tank is doing his. It also makes some bosses easier when the capt can tank one boss while tank does another or capt can tank all the ads and tank on boss. HOH captains do not always have the survivability to off tank like an LOM captain.

I do feel somewhat discouraged though cause recently people say stuff to me like ''LOM capt. FTW'' and ''Only an HOH captain is a good capt." I disagree. I have gotten rejected from raids also because even ones that i have obviously done like wings of ToO because i didn't retrait. One person found it funny cause he felt like i was healing better on my LOM capt than an HOH capt. I bet it was from the less damage taken from to arms and strength of will.

I do think that capts need another revamp though just so that people do not feel like ''only an HOH capt is a good captain''
