    Yeoman Twink

    Hi all,

is it possible for a Yeoman-Twink to go all the way up to max-craftskill and to make the best consumables without leveling?

Probably not, unless something has changed dramatically since I did the bulk of my craft leveling.

In addition to having make all all of the items to get the crafting points to advance through the tiers, after the first couple of tiers you have a special crafting quest that you need to complete that unlock the next tier of recipes. Those quests seem to correspond roughly with the level ranges that Turbine intended to go with the original 50 level cap. In other words, each of the original 5 tiers of crafting corresponded to a level range (1-10, 11-20, etc). The crafting quests to unlock the next tier requires you to adventure into a region populated with appropriately leveled mobs and (usually) kill some of those mobs to retrieve a "unique" ingredient. Some of these quests only go to the North Downs, others go into the Misty Mountains, Angmar, Trollshaws, etc. Unless you have a kin or fellowship that is willing to escort you and help slay the mobs/find the ingredient, you will have a very difficult time completing these quests to unlock the higher tiers.

Not that it can't be done, but it would be difficult. I have managed to complete some of the higher-tier crafting quests while being 5-10 levels below the intended level, but I don't believe that this is possible with all of them unless you have help.

I believe that the intention was to try to prevent exactly what you are proposing.

I have a level 20 hunter who has maxed out on crafting and can make the highest level jewelry items.

If you have a farmer to supply you, you can level your cook very quickly. A few months ago, I decided to level my farmer, level about 28 and my cook, level about 30 in their professions. In just a few days (I could do it quicker now, knowing that I don't have to do so many crops to have a good output---farming is slow and tedious!) I leveled both farmer and cook to the highest level available without leveling their fighting levels at all. So yes, it's very possible and higher level cooked food can sell very well in the AH as long as you don't get greedy.

@kmcferrin almost all the crafting quests were removed from the game before I joined. Now the only one is the one that unlocks Artisan level, and it merely consists of crafting some expert-level items, with no special materials required.

    @OP Yes. But what's a twink?

A twink is a term widely used in WoW. From wiki:

"Twinks are below level cap player characters who have gained the best powerful gear for their level with enhancements such as expensive weapon enchants, leg patches and BoE/BoP greens, blues or epics."

Its very possible. I have multiple early 20s toons with supreme level crafting and this was done when the crafting quests were still active. I just had a Captain friend muster me out there, he killed the mob, I looted it and got my item, then I mapped home to the lower level area. The only problems you'll face are getting the raw mats that are farmed from nodes (ie. metals, jewels, wood, etc) unless you have a main toon that is an Explorer or you have the cash to buy from AH.

    Cheers

The only problem might be a scholar. In order to craft T4 and better items, you need access to superior study, which means either building rep with Mathom Society or somehow getting to Rivendell (I bought rivendell travel skill from the store on my scholar lvl 10 alt). Unfortunately it turned out that I need Dunland reputation to use battle/warding scrolls T7 recipes. I was very disappointed.

If you mean the Tome of Wisdom recipe requiring Dunland rep to buy, this is no longer true. In fact, you have been auto-granted it.

The tome recipe I got but recipes for battle/warding scrolls themselves require friend standing with men of dunland

Since the RoI non-guild jewelry requires rep that can only be gotten from questing in Dunland, how did you get that rep on a level 20 character? Or are you saying that your level 20 only has guild recipes?

Will the Crafts on the sigs ever get updated?

Not all ROI non-guild jewellery require rep. Recipes found in scroll cases do not require reputation.
My 32lvl jeweller has all T1-T6 recipes and all non-rep T7 recipes as well as all guild recipes.

Thanks all for the responses. I guess my litle hobbit doesnt have to leave the shire after all

And the term twink describes a well geared, by highlevel-character supplied alternative toon.
This has nothing to do with WoW, we already called them Twinks back in the days in Meridian59/Ultima Online/DaoC.

I didn't say I had all the recipes, just that my skill is maxed.
