I'll bet you $100 that the patch has nothing to do with the spring festival.

    Re: Spring Fest?

Yeah, pretty sure this is just patching fixes.

Dunno if there'll be much in the way of a big spring fest this year anyway, more or less something more along lines of Anniversary stuff to come sometime in coming weeks... ?

EDIT: by not 'much in the way of a big spring fest this year', i figured we'd get one, but probably not with a huge amount of new things to do, i could be wrong. sorry if i sounded more like i didnt expect one at all, just that i was expecting the Anniversary stuff to be a bigger deal

    Re: Spring Fest?

Would be a shame if they downscaled (or even cancelled) the Spring Festival in favour of the Anniversary - I've only been here for about a year and have never experienced one yet, so I was really looking forward to it. Hope they'll still do it!

This patch has nothing to do with the Spring Festival. That festival has not been cancelled, though it has been pushed back a little bit so that we could address some of the concerns over last year's Anniversary festival and make this year's much better, more fun, and have some cool items for you guys.

It is our 5th Anniversary after all.

I've never seen a downscaled festival, only festivals getting bigger each year. So quit being mopey It'll come.

    $100 please.

As for the anniversary - April.

Sapience's post implies that Spring and Anniversary festivals are combined. Is that how it's been in the past?

No, in the past the anniversary festival was generally held in the early summer like June several weeks after the spring festival was over.

Sorry if I gave that impression. That's not the case. We'v simply pushed out the spring fest past the Anniversary festival.

The Anniversary festival has always been held on or near (within a week or so) of our Anniversary. Which, for those keeping track, is April 24.

Oh and there's this whole PAX East thing April 6-8. If you can make it you really really should. Three reasons...

Kinda late for the Spring Fest at this point, considering it's so warm everywhere already. We might hit 80s today & tomorrow here in Boston. Perhaps ME isn't experiencing global warming ...

Spring Festival in May this year? That's a bit weird.

Any chance that those who cannot attend the PAX event will be able to find the mount in lotteries and the like in the future some time?

And I will never forget the LotRO anniversary date. It's the same date as my birthday. It's fantastic to party in both worlds at the same time

Hopefully you'll give this tradeshow mount away to non-PAX attenders in the SAME fashion as the Cremello steed. Some lotteries for account wide keys, twitter giveaways, other giveaways.

The account wide lotteries were incredibly hard to do. They required a unique lottery per server and only 1 winner per server each time (due to the need for unique codes and how the lottery works). So to give away just 10 account wide mounts per world would require 290 lotteries.

However, giving away account wide codes on Twitter is definitely doable during PAX East!

And yes, the folks at MadCatz have provided us with some killer PC gear to give away on the show floor and at our party. You'll be able to get hands on with their new MMO mouse at our booth too as we currently plan to have one at every LOTRO and DDO station.

I do remember it was a pain. But I'd like to see at least 1 of them per-world so that people participating in the the lottery system who don't follow twitter and things of the sort have a shot!
(No I didn't win them, but I know people who did

Boo to the spring fest being pushed back! I look forward to the Spring Festival every year because it usually runs during my birthday now this year I won't get to celebrate in Middle Earth. To make it up to me you should send one of those mount codes my way.

But what about us players who dont live in that area, are you telling us that only a handfull of players are going to be offered a new mount. I think LOTRO should start goiing on the comiccon or fantasycon circuts to deliver swag across the whole country instead of just those that happen to be bale to go to PAX or some small event in Boston.

Players in Central USA and Southern USA feel no love at all from you guys and it stinks sometimes. Not only us but our overseas adventurers as well.

It's a little late for that. It's already infected multiple online games, Twitter, and my shopping list which now includes "waffles". I am holding your co-worker directly responsible.

Since spring fest is pushed out to may, and anniversay will happen at late april, theres not much left to be had.

Perhaps again a treasure hunt? (we can pretend we are hunting for easter eggs!)

    Re: Spring Fest?

well, I am much more in favor of the real thing - which would be spring fest for me. very sad - I still need some items to rearrange the garden of my house - too much snow at the moment.

hope this will not effect the other events by pushing the next yule fest to April - 2013.

as for PAX - sorry, no way to make it for European players not in the area for some reasons anyway.

would love to see the new mount, though - even still I will not be able to own one. enjoy guys!

Some jumping to conclusions here so let me try to clear things up.

The spring festival won't be, but we do plan on having an event running during that weekend. It's the same weekend as PAX East (yes we all get to work during Easter and Passover) so we'll have some things going on in game. Just not the Spring festival.

Perhaps again a treasure hunt? (we can pretend we are hunting for easter eggs!)
The Anniversary festival will start a little before the actual anniversary, so I'd say closer to mid April than late. And running the Treasure Hunt over easter weekend is entirely possible. Though I wouldn't expect eggs. or Bunnies. Unless you try to picture a cave-claw with fur and big floppy ears...

We had several EU players RSVP for the party we're hosing at PAX. Players who have stated they're coming specifically for Expo. Hopefully they get to see some of Boston as well. Also, we usually give away the mounts via twitter (account wide codes) as well as a lottery or two or three during pax (single character only mounts).

Also, unless something changes (and it's entirely possible), March is currently the only month I can think of that won't have a festival running during at least some portion of it. Though some may be cases where a festival starts the last week of a month and ends the middle of the next for example. Once the full schedule is settled we'll see about adding it to the community calendar as tentative so that folks can have an idea of what to expect when.
