1) I like debuffs and support. CC is kinda fun, but I enjoy the debuffs more.
2) Single target dps. It's pretty big and I prefer melee over ranged. I don't think my burg's dps is higher than my champion, but the burg amplifies everyone else's dps, so it is quite substantial addition to the group.
3) Burglars are fun for RP. My captain takes the high road all the time, but my burg has more of a choice. You can find him hanging out in taverns and stealing potions from training dummies.
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend. ~ Faramir
1)because I use to be able to play effectivly solo in the moors
2)Single target DPS
3)CC

the divine has given me orders to follow j00 and troll j00 for all eternity!
....
1. I enjoy the fluid and versatile combinations/sequences/rotations of attacks that the burglar has to offer
2. Single Target Dpz
3. CC (which used to be worth a ^%$# until turbine felt that stuns and knockdowns should be included in audacity.
my one wish? another NON critchain, NON crit ender melee skill that is NOT a trick, nor does it consume the feint attack buff (basically, another subtle stab type skill, maybe 2-3 target low damage aoe? or some other synergy skill) also, lowering double edged strike cooldown by .5-1 second to fall inline with burglars advantage's active cooldown, (DES has a much longer animation)
wishful thinking, but everyone has their peeves, thats mine lol.
I was inspired by a good burg on server. My RK was capped, and I believe M-wood was already out, and my burg was languishing around level 25.
I grouped with him in some M-wood instances and thought it was much smoother than other classes I had run with and he was doing amazing things. I wanted to find out what that secret was, so I determine to level him and he became my 2nd level cap toon.
I'm the first to admit I'm not a good burg but I like the challenge so for me:
1) was inspired by great burgs so I have something to look up to
2) I enjoy the complexity and flexibility that the burg brings.
1)because I use to be able to play effectivly solo in the moors
2)Single target DPS
3)CC
what is this!? ifreborn admitting burgs are single target DPS and CC! im shocked =[ ]
anywho here is my answers:
1) the feel of the versatility of the class you get as you level more
2) the complexity of the class and the fact you cant face roll
3) being able to fight only what you want and when you want instead of having to rambo through everything to kill the boss
Because I keep hoping it will be great someday, and hobbit burgs are the most iconic/special/whatever class in the game. Whenever I play it though, it never lasts because there is just something lacking for me, personally. My burg is 68.
I always liked Bilbo (as opposed to Frodo) in the books and wanted to make a character as a testiment to a real hobbit burglar in the Tolkien tradition. Looking forward to seeing the movie.

1. I can rove the Moors with my feet up on my computer desk, one hand on the mouse and one on my beer.
2. After 9 ranks on my mini in SOA, I needed to pay back all the wargs on my server.
1) Playing in the moors effectively without any audacity gear.
Yup, I think that just about covers it.
looking at the sig i cant tell if you are joking or serious?
dont mean to insult or sound like stars mean anything, but my RK, who i suiside into OC every 5 min has more stars than you, i mean i pre stun pot and rush into a raids of creeps solo and try and kill 1 before they can get me.

theres too many hunters and i have one .wanted to try something with the same virtues but different playstyle.wouldnt mind to get a backup 75 when i feel like running draig or any raids ..u just want a cc character.
Needed a change from playing hunter all the time in PvE and game wouldn't allow me to bring my warg to PvE through the maps. So went for the class that reminded me most of warg (pretty much working the same way, except for some extra skills on burg that I never remember to use anyway).
I'm not a good burg by any means but I'm having fun
Good dps and fun with lots of CC also I like the coupling of attacks with the need to chain them to be efficient. And of course stealth is great

Just so you know, Stars don't mean ####.
I solo a lot on my burg and go out of my way in attempt for organised 1v1's to challenge myself, and as a result of being that type of solo player I get zerged by the needy raidbabies of the opposite faction.
I don't know about anyone else, but I play a burglar so I can come to the forums and read ifreborn's posts to learn more about, how unbeknownst to myself and everyone else, burglars are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
1. Stealth. It's a blast sneaking through Annuminas, orc camps, or anywhere else my other characters fear to tread.
2. Tricks. I'm not nearly as effective with these as I'd like to be but I still have fun using them.
3. Hobbit. Burglar.
Stop hanging out with fail tanks and use provoke more :P That's what I do and what I meant by "next to no"
I'm in one of the best raiding kins in the game Our tanks are rarely "fail"... but still, I put out an absolutely brutal amount of dps... and pull aggro occasionally (not frequently, but occasionally). Now, it is true I don't use provoke as much as I should in my rotation (there's a 10s window every 15s where I won't touch it. Care to guess what window that is?).
Tanks rely on block/parry responses to generate aggro. But on some bosses, the only BP they get is from the boss itself (e.g., kalbak), and as a result, it's much harder to hold aggro. This is especially true when you can't steal aggro from your group because your parry response comes up when you're far away from them.
My main is a minstrel. Pretty predictable for me. I usually play a healer class of some description. I'm actually an alt-aholic and I now have one of each class, though the minstrel is still my favourite ... but only just.
Some time ago I ended up in a group with a burg. It was a Moria instance, though I can't remember which one it was now. But I spent most of it going :O. Not long after that I did Northcotton Farm with a hunter and a burg who played 'tank' for us. My first thought was 'Well this is going to be a quick and painful experience' ... and once again I spent most of the instance with my mouth hanging open. It was the fastest NCF I'd ever done. At that point I decided that I should make a burg ASAP.
Now I don't pretend for a second that I play any of the classes brilliantly, in many cases, I'm sure I suck quite a bit actually ... but my goodness is the burg FUN! Levels 1-30 were good, but then from 31 to now (almost 40) I'm regularly impressed at how much a burg can handle.
They're a real surprise packet, with the added bonus of being a Swiss army knife personified.

Originally the main draw for me. No set focus/purpose in terms of high dps/mainCC/main debuffs. I'm lazy and I'd rather be able to do a whole lot of things well compared to doing insane dps/crazy debuffs, or hips from a zerg. You never really needed a burg for anything early in this game...but having a good burg made just about every aspect easier, or more efficient.
"THE EDGE, there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over"

I picked burglar for my main character for one main reason...stealth.
The ability to go into places and not be attacked while I scout it out...sometimes being able to wait for the right time to kill my target then go silent before others arrive really rocks. Any other character (that I know of) can't do that...even then, I'm pretty sure only the burglar can go into stealth in combat once that skill is available.
I focus on items and traits/virtues that max my morale and morale regen. With quality armor and weapons, I'm a fairly effective combatant, and I can readily take on someone twice my max morale and beat him thanks to all the tricks I can employ in combat to take him down and build myself back up.
I'm not so much RP, but a burglar can be more of an ambiguous character. My guy isn't really a bad guy. I even crafted the bio to reflect that he was adopted by a clan of thieves and trained in the arts.
I can see why the burglar is the only "hard" character to play (LOTRO's definition). You have to master the skills to do well with it, but I don't think it's any harder than any other character...other than having to think more in tactical terms when approaching a quest.
Champions, Captains, Guardians and Wardens really don't have a choice but to jump into the fray. Minstrels have to fight from a distance. Lore-Masters, Rune-Keepers and Hunters do best from a distance. The characters seem to be made more for your gaming style than just role-playing. Burglars can only fight up-close, but once leveled up and equipped makes an effective combatant, but the ability to choose if and when to fight is a big positive to me.
1)Stuns, roots, mezzes. Burgs got em, they make soloing packs a breeze.
2)The bad-ness of being a burglar. Burgs are sneaky, backstabbing thieves and that just tickles my fancy.
3)Sneakin up behind the enemy and shankin him in the back of the neck is just BA.
Can I put a fourth? Oh well.
4)Choosing whether to fight or not is a giant plus. Burgs are great at fighting, yeah, but they are also the best at not fighting when they don't want to.
1. Kin was short on Burglars, server was short on good ones in general, figured why not add another to the already 6 65's
2. Got hooked on the Moors sneaking and stalking
3. Class is the best I have experienced out of all of them, most fun, most diverse and useful in PvMP and PVE
