I was in Mirkwood, and there was like 2 other players in the zone. And i kept getting the stuck in place lag, and the NPC's wandering did it too, and my swift travels stuck in place onetime i had to dismount the swifttravel it stopped and would never continue, i waited 15 min surfing the net, then gave up and dismounted.
Asimon, I like that you came back and explained your emotions.
I think we are getting to a point where more interaction from Turbine became a "I want answers NOW". Let's remember we never got much of anything from them with many issues over many years, but lately there is better communication.
We want solutions but still need to wait more than...what? A few hours? A few days? It takes time but let's at least understand that not every post or every problem can get a response.
Cheers
Agree with you, I liked Asimon coming back and explaining.
I don't fall into the category of wanting answers now, but I'd like Turbine to communicate with us when important game related issues are going on.
For example, I didn't like how Turbine handled their communication with us when the forums were compromised a while back.
For this update, I'd like to hear if they see any problems with U6, and when they plan to fix them.
I haven't downloaded the patch, and after reading the posts here, don't plan to yet (not worth the aggravation)... would rather just download after they hotfix it into a stable state.
*I apologize for the use of hard language (still tho - kept the forum rules).
it is just so frustrating that you guys are not addressing this issue and communicate with us.
There have already been posts that they are aware of the issue and trying to fix it - just wondering what more folks are looking for just now?
The most epic way to lose the undying title: take a stable horse from Bree to Combe. It dived into the Midgewater Marsh, swam for a bit, sank, and kept banging against a rock wall.
So not good. The stable horses seem to be getting worse.
ETA: I'm not OCD and I do have the title on other toons so I'm not that fussed, but the horses really are going crazy. At first they just stopped, now many of them are actively suicidal, making it very difficult to get from Point A to Point B.
We're aware of the issues. In Fact we should have it resolved tomorrow with a small update. We're also taking the opportunity to address some of the Warden issues, and issues in the Isengard raid.

What are we looking for dear sir?
a game with no lags. if it was solved for you - it does not mean it was solved for the community, tho you may assume so.
Could you be so kind and direct me where they said it?
All I heard is "we're aware of the issues".
WHAT issues?
did you see the word lag anywhere officially?
was the LAG issue fixed?
too bad turbine.
I haven't played for over a week now - because of the lags.
I'm seriously considering looking towards other directions....
(and if I'm saying it - a somewhat 'veteran' of the game, I bet 100's more will follow).
I will not reply a single word.. IF TURBINE WILL JUST SAY "yes there is a lag problem, we are aware of it, and are working to fix it".
(Turbine - scroll up to my previous post - make your dev team manager say the "nobody's going home before..."
I don't know what else to do.
My faith in Turbine is dropping rapidly.

Played for a looong session last night on Riddermark and again for a few hours this morning. If anything, the issues are getting worse, especially the stables and the freezes. The stables are all but useless. Last night I tried various ones all around the Shire. Out of 9 attempts, only 2 managed to complete the trip. The MD to Hobbiton and the reverse was completely broken on 4 tries (2 each way). Neither way could get past Waymeet where the horse would jump all over the place, change directions, time-phase & dimension-jump, and then either get stuck running in place against some object or just decide it wasn't going any further.
As for the freeze frames, I gave up attacking anything higher than light blue and even those were doing way more damage than they should have simply because I was basically just standing there while they beat the snot out of me. Trying to interact with anything - doors, nodes, mobs, NPCs, Task boards, mailboxes, etc. - is so bad it would p*ss-off the Pope. My index finger was actually getting sore from constantly clicking on things to get them to respond (and then the response would freeze everything again for seconds).
If there isn't some official response from Turbine soon about these issues and a possible patch date, I may be heading back over to EVE and the upcoming Dust 514. At least over there, CCP has learned that ignoring the playerbase is NOT a good idea. They communicate about everything! And the game is at least playable. (and NO, you cannot have my stuff nor will the door hit me in the rump on the way out - if it comes to that.)
Might be time to consider re-thinking the way that the layering/zoning interactions work, and the way that layering was implemented, Mr. Turbine. There's something funky 'bout it. And I don't mean the George Clinton style of funky, either.

Merely suggesting that in a post called 'Please fix the lag', and they reply 'We are aware of the issues', it seems pretty obvious they are aware of the lag issues.
Not fixed for me at the moment, still suffering. However, I also know that software development takes some time to design, code, test, and implement.
I also agree that some updates after an apparently failed fix would be nice.
Just back to LOTRO after a break of a few months touring some other MMOs and have to say that the dev and mod responses here are a lot better than in most other fora I have been on recently, though obviously still some room for improvement.

I must say I've never seen anything quite like this in the 4+ years I've been playing. The best workaround I've found is simply to use my own mounts. A bit slower, but I know Binky won't swan dive off cliffs in Dunland. And I get to enjoy the scenery between lag spikes.
Yesterday in Enedwaith I was in the hills near Thror's Combe (sp?) and I got into a loop of movement that had me running up a hill, sliding back, magically appearing at the top, and repeating the whole sequence about 5 times.
I wasn't even touching the keyboard or mouse, couldn't break out of it, and just had to wait till it stopped. When it did stop, I had 5 "you have injured yourself in a fall!" messages (ya think?) and the "broken leg" debuff.

It's a pity Turbine didn't take the time to design, code, TEST and implement Update 6. I find it hard to believe that U6 would be released to us in the sad state it's in if they took the time to test and fix it during beta...

It's just not possible to test everything, especially a full server loading. Personally I don't find U6 to be in a "sad state" - most of it is just fine. That said, lag is definitely a crippling problem that still exists - last week's fix did NOT fix it. My kin has almost given up raiding because of the frequent lag spikes. Even 6 man instances have problems never mind 12 man.
Sure it's possible to test full loading. Bullroarer has more people on it than some of the smaller servers - no doubt about it. Especially during "open" Betas such as the past few have been.
The issue is getting worse by the day since the last "fix". No doubt about it.
And I think most people are replying to this thread simply to state their experience. It is not client issues that are the problem here. There are some serious server-side shenanigans going on.
I for one would be quite interested to know what purpose Bullroarer serves in Turbine's eyes...
Group content has all but been done away with the lag. Try doing any raid or 6 man instances and it is pure frustration. Considering end game content is mostly grouping they are making a lot of people angry
We’ll take this as a sign that we need to do a better job in clear and open communication...
It appears you folks may still be having a bit of trouble determining when "clear and open communication" would be helpful and appropriate. Just to let you know, in my humble opinion this might be one of those cases. Customers tend to go balistic a lot more often when their concerns appear to be ignored or placed on a back burner.
I realize there are some at your company that truly believe that we are in a situation where what the customer thinks about the company or how they feel about the product doesn't really matter all that much. They are probably right to a certain extent in that it probably doesn't cost too much in diminished revenue in the short term. Old customers get replaced by new. But, it seems obvious to me that as one's reputation continues to diminish, the ultimate outcome will always be less customers.
Clearly communicating with customers is often ranked as having a very high priority when it comes to success. I've never seen ignoring them ranked at all.
All of this is just a bit of unsolicited advice from basic Business 101. You probably know this already. So, take it or leave it as you see fit.
But, the truth is that stop and go lag has very recently become a very big problem for many of us. It takes a lot of the fun out of the game to be wiped while soloing a blue mob. You don't have to fix it in the next hour, but many of us would truly appreciate a bit of feedback and a few updates on our complaint. Treating us like mushrooms just ain't gettin' it.
I especially like the fact that the lag is costing me so much in silver. Not to mention when my group rides somewhere together, my 68% mounts have NO speed advantage over the regular mounts. That really makes me happy I bought or worked hard to get the 68% mounts I have collected. If I'd have known it was gonna be this bad, I'd have been keeping track of wasted swift travels, extra money spent on repairs due to lag deaths and wasted food, bow chants etc... Then I'd be sending an itemized bill to Turbine for compensation...
There's an idea Turbine... If you ever get this fixed, do something to compensate your players for all the stuff you've caused us to waste...
Last night/early this morning was the worst I've seen yet. It was totally unplayable. I spent my time cycling through all 10 of my characters on one server and a few on two other servers doing inventory maintenance, making notes of things that needed crafted, working the AH, and experimenting with plugins. Even at that, I still had to travel between the Vault areas and the AHs which was horribly difficult (the Bree stables were worthless), still had to deal with panels taking forever to open, the constant lag while moving items around, and switching characters was frustratingly slow.
I decided to time the loading between character logins. This did not include waiting for the game to log me out which is definitely taking longer than 30 seconds most of the time now. I started timing from the instant that I clicked 'Enter the Game' - the shortest was 3 minutes, 22 seconds, and the longest was an unbelievable 7 minutes, 49 seconds. Average that out amongst the 12 unique characters plus 2 of them twice and you get an average of 5.59 minutes x 14 loads = 78.26 minutes. So for roughly 1 hour, 18 minutes, 15 seconds I sat here staring at the loading screen. THAT. IS. ABSURD!
Okay, Turbine, if you're going to continue to not communicate with the players on the very real technical issues brought about by Update 666, I'm going to unleash my most potent weapon on you. I'm going to make fun of you. :P
Yes, I fear that last week's patch alleviated the problem not at all; it seems to be getting worse. Now mounts are just going completely mad and running into walls, trees, off the edges of cliffs when not stopping completely. The weird lag spike that hits when a player approaches a crafting facility (forge, oven, whatever) is particularly strange. Hell, if I approached my kitchen stove like that my second breakfast would go sailing into the sink. And the lag, don't get me started on the lag.
How laggy is it, you ask?
It's so laggy that Gandalf is now shouting "YOU SHALL NOT MOVE!"
It's so laggy that the rich iron in my champ's bags turned to ancient iron by the time she'd crossed the North Downs.
It's so laggy that the Orc Miss Ghraye was pickpocketing felt sorry for her and just handed over her 47th Green Garnet Bracelet recipe.
The weird lag spike that hits when a player approaches a crafting facility (forge, oven, whatever) is particularly strange.
I have felt for a while there must be something wrong with the random number generator code after the update. Seems like the lag is worse where the RNG is used (combat and crafting). Yes, this is also areas where a lot of characters are gathered in one place, but graphically, crafting doesn't do much to your system. Combat, on the other hand...
Anyway, a big HA! to your Carnac routine. I'm assuming you've seen the real life lag videos on Youtube? (there was a popular one I can't find now)
The same complaint keeps repeating itself!
All in good fun now
(Honestly, I appreciate them communicating more, but I don't want to hear an answer to every single thread. When an issue arrises that is obviously causing some difficulty it will take longer to solve. I don't want to hear every little update from them. We know they are working on it. Yes it's a biggy for some, but for others we are not getting the lag. Creates an even bigger head ache for them I bet).
My favourite is when my burglar is running up the crit line, click on one, the skill que indicator goes around the icon until the chance to use that skill finally expires. Yeah, no fun. Or the one when I sneak up behind a mob, poised to burgle, and suddenly I'm rubber banded back two steps out of range......

It's so laggy even Sara Oakheart moves faster than me

Yeah, this has been my biggest frustration with the lag as well, I'm nothing without my crit-chain skills. =(
It's so laggy slug slime is a speed boost.
It's so laggy my food actually rotted by the time I got to Trestlebridge from Bree.
It's so laggy de-je-vous has become commonplace.
It's so laggy slug slime is a speed boost. (D*mned rubberbanding!)
It's so laggy, by the time I finish loading into the game I've already been AFK disconnected.
It's so laggy, by the time my main mails something to an alt then swaps over to the alt to collect it it's already been 2-week returned back to my main.
It's so laggy, when I plant a Spring Barley field, by the time I can harvest it it's grown through all tiers into a Black Barley crop.
It's so laggy, when I finally finish harvesting any barley crop it's already fermented into a mug of ale.
It's so laggy, when I pay 6 weeks of housing in advance, by the time I get verification that the payments went through the 6 weeks are passed and I'm locked out.
It's so laggy, when I create a new kin at the notary, by the time I can finally close his screen and step away from him the 5 days have passed and the kin gets disbanded for not having enough players.
It's so laggy, by the time my pickpocket attempt gets processed I'm already reviving at the rez circle.
Update 666 and Turbine i must say: you screwed it up really hard this time....
It´s so laggy you can watch Saruman´s beard grew, while waiting for your next strike at him
It´s so laggy you just don´see yourself die, but wake up at the doors of orthanc
Yesterday was the most worst day since release of Update 6...while fighting Saruman with my kinship (ok, it should be just a fast twink run on tier 1) we experienced not very funny super-lags in fifth phase (yeah real fun for two guardians and our healers ganking around with ten saru´s like nightcrawler in x-men......). My loss rate goes up to 50% (luckily nobody lost connection during THIS time..the runs before, two of our ring-wearers lost connection...bad enough..).
I must say this is absolutely bull#### and i will quit playing lotro at such times (an because i´m a regular worker, this means i can´t play lotro anymore in the week because of your goddamn lags).
please, i beg for a gamefeeling and connection like before update 6 (and as a german guy this wasn´t SOOO good at all, but enough for playing).
It is getting kind of ridiculous that they have yet to even say anything about it. It's obviously an issue... the majority of stuff that I hear about in GLFF is in regards to the lag. It isn't even that bad... but just consistant. Kind of a pain in the butt to throw off a Gambit and have it screw up because one of my masteries lags out.

They absolutely HAVE acknowledged that there is a problem with lag. This last hotfix was supposed to address it, unfortunately it did not. This is one of those issues that can be incredibly hard to pin down, and may be so deep in the code as to require a significant number of programmer-hours to solve.

Re: Please fix the lag
It's true, lag is a very tricky thing to pin down. The potential sources of lag are complex and not always where you think they are. We had an issue that was addressed that caused a memory related lag problem. This has been completely addressed and is no longer the cause of lag on our servers.
As I mentioned before it is impossible to 'fix' all types of lag because the overwhelming majority of what is perceived as lag usually falls somewhere between the end points. That includes your home network, the various networks that internet traffic is routed through, and there are even cases where "lag" isn't' what you're seeing at all but simply performance issues with your PC trying to do more than it can handle and getting bogged down in the process. It can even bee a NIC driver that is having issues.
Ultimately, we can control one thing and that's our server's performance and the network stack on our systems. To the best of our knowledge, this is all working as expected.
