Thread: Quest bugged for me and blocking rest of Wailing Hills quest line

I had not problem with this quest.

I did the Stangard quests, through to the one where Gadda sends you to Lanbert in the Cuthstan camp, before I did any of the Wailing Hills quests (except for the Epic one).

Had the exact same problem, and also reported it.

Just wanted to let you know that we are aware of this problem, and that a fix will be coming.
The issue arises when completing some Great River quests in a certain order -- a quest requires you to speak to Gadda, but Gadda is no longer accessible. Completing the instance "A Daring Escape" before "A Prisoner to Stangard" will likely put you in this situation.

Unfortunately a fix to this issue was too late to make it into the last patch, but a fix should be coming sometime down the line. You will be able to speak with an NPC other than Gadda, and precede with Great River quests normally from then on. You will need to pickup the quest again from Odda at his camp near the Cuthstan if you are already in this state.

Sorry for the trouble, and I appreciate your patience in waiting for a resolution.

MrSleepy is there coming a similar fix for (what sounds like a same problem) Dagbert in the Brown Lands?

I had this problem. Somehow I could turn it in at random one day. I was in a raid when it happened (had to drop to turn it in). If that is of any use to anyone...

I'm gonna *guess* that happened because someone else in your group was at a different stage to you and for them, Gadda spawned. That might be a temporary solution - group (not raid) with someone for whom Gadda is still in place and see if he is also visible for you.

I had this issue also and got it solved when I was in raid group. I went inside that building (don't remember it's name, but that big one) and came back outside and I had 2 gadda's just like in picture posted in this thread.
I dropped raid group and returned quest to gadda.

Raid group had players from lvl54 to lvl75.

My wailing hills Gadda bugged still and sofar DEV or GMs say either can't reproduce (ie they don't believe it exists) and GMs say there's nothing they can do about it.

So this is the quality of bug fixing we get?

On page three someone official addressed the problem. The quality of response via bug fixing is so good, it posted about it on Mar 27 2012 07:59 PM. Quantum, baby.

Oh Turbine, where are you? I also submitted a bug report about this exact issue (after like many of you, being told by an in-game GM to do so). No response. I've also submitted offline tickets. Nothing. Can they at least acknowledge there's an issue and that they are looking into it? Please?

BTW it seems that the bug happens to those of us who happened upon our feathered friends in the secluded clearing and did those quests 'out of turn'. Guess we weren't supposed to go off exploring ;-).

Overall though I have to say I'm happy with the new area. I am NOT happy with the server load/lag and client crash issues everyone seems to be having - but story wise, it's ultra cool. Just one more tiny request. Please. No more swamps. Well, the Dead Marshes will be allowed.

Yay! I stand corrected when I said just minutes ago in another thread that I hadn't heard a word from the devs on this issue. Thanks, Turbine. Really do love the new area. I won't address the technical issues here with the servers and crashes everyone seems to be having, but I do hope those get fixed soon too. I'd hate to see people leave the game over technical stuff. But I'm enjoying my adventuring immensely.

Please fix Dagbert in the brown lands as well! Let him be locked up or something so we can turn in quests. This phasing technology doesn't work if proper "outs" arent provided. I do not believe there is red text on the sellswords turn in warning us, either.

This will be fixed with 6.1

Still broken for me after 6.1 Patch notes say the quest will be removed and you can pick it back up from Odda again. The quest was removed OK but Odda doesn't have anything for me. Anyone else got the same problem now?

After cancelling the quest, I had to go and click twice on the coil of rope, and then go through the speeches in the mead hall. But outside, a ring over the quest completion char's head on the map, but not click-able to finish the quest.

Cheers for the advice, I went back to the rope and it's all working for me now.

Its working now, they fixed since update 6.1...

Broken again....

I picked up the prisoner of stangard quest from the coil of rope, completed it and turned into Brysntan. He offers up another quest in the line that i accepted.. however i was out 'out of range' and it was not bestowed to me. I went to talk to him immediately after and there is no quest ring above his head and he wont talk with me. So I am still unable to finished the wailing hills quest line however i am one quest further down it lol...

Thanks for the fix but it seems more needs to be done about the subsequent quest bestowal...

Got the same problem - still only 13/20 & no way of picking up the remaining quests - Frithstan's camp etc

Just wondering; I am at 10/20 quest and stuck too, but might this be related to compleing the epic line?
On alts which didn't complete the epic quest line yet, I have had no problems... How's with the other bug reporters?

Since epic does return to mead hall area.... just wondered if this locks it up...

At this point, I'm pretty sure that Turbine doesn't actually give a damn about any of us who can't complete these bugged quests. Two months, and they haven't fixed anything. Even Prisoner still bugs out.

So this didn't make it into U7? I just did this quest line today on my fifth toon and it bugged. Gadda is non responsive and has no ring above his head. Like others have stated, I'm totally stuck and can't complete the Wailing Hills quest line which would lead me back to Stangard, to the Eorlsmead Farm and Tower. I did notice I did do a few quests out of order (Limlight Dailies) and missed a turn in at the End of the Thinglad quests.

So yeah, I turned in the quest to Gadda and got absolutely nothing in return for a follow up quest. Seems he doesn't want to talk to me- there are no quest rings above his head or anything to even show that there are more quests there.

Edit: I checked with Odda and there's nothing there. I'm still stuck at 10/20 of Wailing hills quests. I can't get the epic storyline done either because of this. How lovely. Absolutely nothing I can even do since I turned in the quest. I've tried logging in and out etc. Nothing.

turned in A Prisoner to Stangard quest to Gadda after the solo instance but no follow up quest. A kinmate had this happen yesterday. I've had no problem on 3 previous toons.

im stuck there since two hours. did the quest instance back in stangard and now i cant find anything else, stuck at 10/20 wailing hills.

I found a way around this bug for the present. Find someone that doesn't have the bug and get them to share the next quest with you. You should be able to finish the "A Prisoner of Stangard" quest, which will make you eligible to have the next quest "In the Shadow of The Stone." I guess if you encounter this bug just post in Regional/glff etc for someone that has the quest "In the Shadow of The Stone" and have them share it with you.

Add yet another stuck at 10/20. Bugged it, but adding my voice to frustration at the lack of a fix for this.

I may have discovered the answer for some of you. I, too, did not get a follow up after turning in quests in Stangard and had 10/20 quests in Wailing Hills. I decided to ride around and did so until I discovered a quest ring...one I had already discovered on day one of The Great River release, but hadn't gotten around to doing on my second 75 until today.

Have you all visited Landroval? I am not speaking of the server. I don't want to spoil anything for those who want to be surprised, but saving Meneldor earned me a letter that took me back into Stangard and then out to a farm and the tower and back into Stangard. It wrapped up the deed for me as well.

Landroval is at a certain "clearing" and you have some orcs and spiders to take down. Once you free Meneldor you will get a letter. Maybe this is what you're all missing (if not, I don't know what to say). Also, where the heck is the vectoring for this quest? Seriously...I don't know how I missed it the second time through while finding it the first time with no issue.

On my 5th time through and no follow up after finishing "A Prisoner of Stangard." Never had any issues before the recent update. Speaking with Landroval allowed me to continue the Eorlsmead quest line at least. Also Gadda appears to have been compromised:

I, too have not been able to receive "In the Shadow of the Stone" which is the vector to Penda's (Frithstan's) camp. That quest is required to get the dailies from there and is the vector to the eagles. Completing the eagles first DOES in fact help complete the deed, but my quests have halted right at the doorstep of the Mead Hall, just like everyone else mentioned. Gadda is a ghost!

^same for me. the Landroval hint helped, thanks. i can continue on the farm. though i cant finish the quest deed in the wailing hills.

Stuck at 14/20, did Landroval, finished the Stangard story but Gadda is a disembodied head of hair who refuses to talk to me or give me In The Shadow Of The Stone. Now that update 7 has come and gone I guess we are to assume that this will never be fixed.

This looks similar to what I just encountered, except my Gadda is now just a floating white wig with a faint blue aura for a body.
I was able to finish the Prisoner quest, but afterwards gadda bugged out and I can't get the Sadow of the Stone quest.

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus: I moved seamlessly down this quest line on two characters before U7, but now I'm stuck on my 3rd alt after completing the 'Prisoner of Stangard' quest. Gadda didn't not appear to be possessed (!!!) like the above, just not willing to talk to me

Checked if I had spoken to Odda, Byrnstan and Gadda and none of them had any kind of followup quests. Gadda was bugged with only his head visible to me.

Finally found that the quest I was missing was "In the Shadow of the Stone" as well. Contacted a GM and he/she was able to share the quest for me which allowed me to complete the quest line normally. As mentioned above Id just check glff / kin members and see if someone has the quest to be shared . It will at least allow you to complete the deed.

Not sure if we had the same bug but if it is I'm sure that if you found someone who has the quest and is able to share it then you might be able to complete it.

Gadda's now disappeared! I've completed Prisoner To Stangard & am stuck on 14/20. Both my other chars completed Wailing Hills with no problems. Not sure what to do now. Grrrrrrrrrrr
