    Account problem. Characters and expansions lost.

    Hello,

    after some longer period of not playing LOTRO I wanted to journey the middle earth once again but after i downloaded the client I realized that first: my characters were no more there and second: my account was on level newly created free account. Back than I purchased 'Shadow of Angmar' and 'Mines of moria' and they where activated on my account. I play from Europe between.

    I tried also to reactivate them over 'activate product key' but I am getting :

    'The Product Key you entered is not valid for use. If you believe this is an error, please contact Turbine Customer Service by visiting support.turbine.com. [err: 30022] '

    Are my copies of Lotro and my characters lost forever or is there some way to reactivate them ?

    if your in europe im guessing you own codemasters copys of SoA\MoM and played previously with codemasers. turbine took over running of the EU lotro service from june last year, if you did not migrate your account by november last year your account is now unfortunatly lost

    lotro codes for SoA and MoM can only be used once, once a code has been used it is attached to an account for ever, also codemasters copys of lotro are not accepted by turbine
    Are my copies of Lotro and my characters lost forever or is there some way to reactivate them ?

    if you had a codemasters account and managed to migrate your account before november then you need to logon to the account you migrated from codemasters.
    if you previously played with turbine you need to logon to your old turbine account
    if you cant remember your account details you can request a username\password reminder\reset here

    Hi Finglonger_UK,

    many thanks for the quick response. It looks like I actually lost my account and characters forever because of missing this migration.
    Its a strange decision to delete accounts that are not active in the time of some internal reorganization which should not bother the end user of such product imo.

    It was not an internal reorganization Turbine and codemasters were are 2 differant companies.
    Codemasters was the company handeling EU distribution Turbine decided to no longer outsource and consolodate all servers into the US.
    EU law prevents disclosure of any type of personal information exchange and You as the Subscriber needed to activate the migration process. Turbine never had access to your info while the Account still actually exists they have no way to link an owner to it any more as codemasters was required after a eriod of time to destroy such info.
    this was not a decision of Turbine or Codemasters but a fact of EU consumer protection Laws.

    I am a lifetime subscriber. I have always been in North America, and all of my characters are now gone. My computer crashed and I had to buy a new one so I didn't play for about 6 months, but now all my characters are gone. I've checked every server and used the look for avatars/characters that are linked to my forum account and all there is is a level one character. Victorie said to use his/her links under his/her signature but I cant find them.

    I know my account still exists, because I have lots of turbine points from the monthly bonus for lifetime memberships.

    Perhaps your account was hacked. What a lot of the account thieves do is strip all the high level characters. When they are done with a character they delete the character. The only characters left are the little that they never bothered to log in. Some times the thieves don't even change the email address or the password.

    Turbine had issue last year where someone(s) got a hold of a copy of a file containing user id and passwords. Turbine sent an email to all the customers asking them to change their passwords.

    If you believe you are missing characters for any reason, you might want to contact the Account Management team. How to do so is in my signature. They can take a look to see what happened and at least point you in the right direction.
