First person on Gilrain server to reach Kindred with the Riders Of Stangard and as I was looking through the new jewls I remembered a house I couldn't entered before ...
This is the inside of the house that's required to have Kindred Standing with the Riders Of Stangard.
It's just up the road right of the stable master, by the new jewellery barters.
Inside as you can see is quite an weird room, there's a rider in the corner cowering from which looks like the hundreds of bats on the roof and all the cobwebs around.
I couldn't find anything of use in here, I even tried with the horseshoe but nothing happened.
Kind of strange though don't you think that it's rep gated to go in but nothing happens or anything ... hmmmm

Celestrata - Surprise, it's not a glitch!
I've asked around, done several searches, and this is the only post on the topic I've seen. I thought perhaps it might make a difference if you entered at night or in the day, but nothing changes between the two. Nothing there but an NPC huddling in the corner.

This is the darndest thing. It is pretty annoying to work to kindred, thinking there are more kindred rep opportunities inside (like in Thorin's Hall), only to find this strangely disturbing room. There has got to be some story behind this room, unless it is just a developer's joke.
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
Could it be the same dev who devised Erebrandirs Horsehoe?
Thats one hell of a tricksies dev.
He was probably snickering into his hot coffee to his fellow devs spilling coffee all over his shirt when telling them of the sneaky surprise that awaited those who eagerly completed kindred.
Turbine seems to show great animosity to the player base in many many ways, complete lack of acknowledgment to many issues/complaints, festivals/treasure hunts that are seemingly designed to just frustrate players, forced emotes, i can go on and on. I think this is just a sad sick joke to keep the lab rats going crazy in the mazes they create so they can all sit back and laugh at us, and/or at one time they had figured to do something like bree/thorins with faction reps tucked away inside a rep gated door, but with many recent half baked releases, they didnt clean up the work when they decided to keep the faction vendors outside like they have in GR.
It serves no logical purpose to have absolutely nothing behind a rep gated door like this, but lets face it, turbine does a huge amount of illogical things all the time these days, it seems to be the new norm.

Time to step away from the keyboard and go outside, sit under a tree, and read a book my friend.

Cute, but unfunny, and nobody in this world has told me what to do since i was 17, and that was 37 years ago. Nice try at a dig, but i remain unimpressed.

Maybe not logical but it allowed the OP to boast that they were the first on their server to get kindred and it made me smile so it wasn't completely useless

Agreed. And something that always bothers me - how does anyone know they are the first to do anything on any particular server? Do they have a master spreadsheet the rest of us are unaware of?
Yeah, needlessly antagonistic. I just missed out on gig tickets. FEEL MY TUESDAY MORNING RAGE.

As far as I can tell you just say you are and challenge anyone who disagrees to provide screenshots or shut up?

Which presumably relies on everyone paying attention to you on GLFF/forums? Which 99% of the player base aren't. Sounds about right.
In that case, I would like to claim I am the first person to solo all of Orthanc. Screenshots incoming. Just let me boot up Photoshop.
N.B. I am not saying that the OP isn't Kindred with the Riders. Or that they weren't the first to do it. I just... I just don't care about it. Other than caring enough to flame this thread, obviously.
ah was there on the day after the update release got to wondering then i said they" got me" , then again prehaps it will be one of those things they add after a bit in a further update or perhaps a "scary event" place during the next fall festival who knows. then again it is probably just one of those slyly placed teasers

I would suggest that the OP provide proof that he is the first person on his server to do that.
That Photoshop pic is convincing, you made impressive use of the program's many features and capabilities. I gotta get that meself.
i wouldnt say claiming anything like that is a very big deal and also i think in this case its very possible ^^ OP is in a kin allied with mine and my impression is that hes sort of a go-getter!
But the thread was about that spooky house and i just want to say i trust turbine to have something up their sleeve for this and i dont think they will disappoint us

What was that suggestion about stepping away from the keyboard, going outside, sitting under a tree and reading a book? Seems like a great idea.
In more important news, I too have been curious about the use of this room. Can anyone think of other places in the game where this type of thing has been seen? The big hall in Bree comes to mind, but I think that actually had a purpose once for an event right? It's also not rep gated. I've been scratching my head trying to think if this is a hidden stab at some type of lore, but I'm just not coming up with anything. Tolkin didn't really provide a lot of info on this part of middle earth and more specifically Rohan's beginnings here.

All the Fanbois in here can be led to a cliff and to their doom by anything THEY code (i.e. do). Lemmings the lot of them.
Yup, that's right. I said it Sappy Essence. Bite me. This game is in the drink.
It almost certainly is unrelated, but I have been intrigued by some odd phenomena relating to the watch tower east of Stangard. I get a red eyeball debuff whenever I come near one of the tower guards. As I recall there is also some interesting flavor text in the deed entry for the tower that says something to the effect of the tower being of uncertain purpose. Lastly, a scrap of cloth in the tower and a flag at the top are identified by floaty text, although I was not able to interact with them. Now, I haven't finished the Stangard quest lines yet, so it may be that tower's quirks are eventually explained. If so, my apologies for raising it here. But if not, I am wondering if there just might be some connection between the tower and the abandoned house.

Like every signature item in the game that has it's own text and such, it does get used in a quest eventually. Just like when you're exploring a new area and you see a named Orc or Warg, you know there's going to be a quest somewhere that requires you to kill that particular mob. So just keep playing and the tower will makes sense.
As to all the doom and gloom people griping about "Turbine doesn't listen" or "Turbine does stuff just to piss people off" or "Turbine only cares about money".
Waaa...waaa...waaa...
There have been identical threads in the WoW forums, DAoC forums, Ultima forums, Everquest forums, and every other single online game ever created. I'm sure even though it's only a few months old, Star Wars has those threads. People will complain about anything and everything at any time and there will always be negative people who aren't happy.
I'm sure the building either has a purpose that we haven't figured out yet, or it's something they coded into Stanguard because they're going to make use of it in a later update. To even consider that it was produced with the purpose of being a joke or pissing people off is perhaps one of the most ignorant suggestions that could be made about the room. Follow the logic of the gripers. Turbine only cares about money!!! MONEY!!! MOOOOOOOONEY!!! So they go and waste money on art work, coding and developing a room with no purpose JUST TO PISS PEOPLE OFF AND MAKE THEM MAD!!! Muahahahaha!!!

They're all explained in the quest chain, with no need to refer to the abandoned kin house.
For those of use who remember all the tart recipie scrolls we were getting in the anniversary gift boxes of past years. The "empty house" in Stangard is the place where Turbine stored those scrolls between anniversaries, and the NPC's in Stanguard had the jobs of putting the tart scrolls in the boxes and gift wrapping them so Turbine could give them to us.
That trembling NPC in the corner of the house, he has PTGBWD, Post Traumatic Gift Box Wrapping Disorder.

I agree with you though how do you know, maybe someone else got their first but felt so foolish or enraged about it that they did not want to brag about it on the forum. I for one am around 15k to go but maybe by the time I get there the devs will have finished programming the quest that will be there.
How about a Heat Seeking Arrow for the Hunter, specifically for Ettenmoors

Yes, lemmings they appear to be for sure. Two of em take little personal digs at me, which i didnt do to anyone in this thread. One was reported, nothing was done.
Sock puppets are in the house i am afraid it seems. That's ok. You know what they say about karma.
Exactly Onyx. I /reported folks for levying personal insults against me before and nothing happened to them. Conversely, the same cannot be said for me.
You can be a fanboi in here and go undisciplined but the minute you call THEIR BLUFF/LIES/DECEIPT/GREED/INEPTITUDE you're given the proverbial hammer.
'Tis okay though... GW2 and MechWarrior MMOs are on the horizon... as is Heroes and Generals. There is plenty to keep an MMO'r deterred from putting up with THIS place (i.e. TGTCWTF).

So very true.
Lol, I don't even care to redownload the whole client to fix the one corrupted file.
Amen. Just how the pickle squirts around here as they say.
Oh and as a side note, i see i got neg repped again. You watching all this Sap? You know i been spanked a time or two in the past, and i have really been watching what i do here. I didnt attack anyone in this thread, yet two attack. I report, you do nothing. Now i AGAIN have certain individuals neg repping me for nothing. This has gone on for a very long time. You guys want me to behave, yet others get away with a ton of stuff in here towards me all the time.
Just whats going on here? I am not gonna PM yah, i like it all out in the open for all to see.
You got some splainin' to do lucy.

There are stacks of boxes in there. It occurred to me that if I jumped from one of them to the lintel of the door, I might be able to jump up by those piles of boxes in the attic and look around for easter eggs.
I *almost* got onto the lintel. Out of about 30 tries, edging out past the corner of the box so that I'm hanging over space in the direction of the door, one time I got up to the lintel and ran along it, but couldn't stop in time and went off the other end.
I can't claim to be the first to get up there on Riddermark... yet. Maybe I'll photoshop myself a cartoon of the wonders attainable in the attic.
