95% of freeps on the server don't have a kin to gear them like he is. You know, the one you got rejected from despite claiming you could 'join whenever you wanted to'???

actually we did orthanc t1 on first day up to sauraman took till the 2nd day to kill him though. we were 1 of the first to actually get any t2 kills the whole raid team and even some backups have 1st ages so i think we are doing pretty well

Yeah wasn't talking about Dragon's Wrath smart one.
They block out names in WvW, so you're just gonna be "Green Invader" .
While I love what I see from GW2, this makes me sadpanda. Makes it difficult to terrorize your opponent verbally when they are just "green invader". Nothing wrong with a little bit of pvp #### talk, one of the few things that made Rift pvp fun.

Doesn't require much, playing a godmode class and zerging with it does not require much effort.

he is still better geared than most the freeps :? with these so called "kins" On 2 Toons... Neck and First age... hard to smack talk that...

Well I think in the long run you are right, PvP talk can get out of hand quick, though I don't think this thread is a good example. A lot of smack being talked here, but it is all in line imo, and since we can't cross faction talk in game it has to come out somewhere. I just enjoy the talk cross faction in game cuz when cross faction talk does exist it is another element of pvp, the ability to irritate and even anger your opponent and throw them off their game.
As far as seeing names, I would be interested if names will be shown in pug and tourney structured pvp. I would like that because it is hard to build a rivalry with someone or a group of people if you never know who they are. I think this would only hurt this form of pvp if names where excluded, surely the tourney matches. In WvWvW pvp I don't so much mind because there I think the rivalries are more about the servers then individuals on those servers.
PS Stevo: if we have threads like this in GW2 at least the smack talk will be somewhat valid. Talking about how awesome you are at BW pvp is like saying how awesome you are in beer league hockey. Shouldn't be a lot of pride in being on the OP side on any of the various OP classes.

There is plenty of crosstalk, just ask all the spies sitting in Grams and reporting back to freepside. Or the people who have a freep and a creep on at the same time. You describe at least one of these spies perfectly; bragging, playing an OP class and posting vids as a brag.

If I recall correctly, Hot Join PvP or Structured PvP does allow you to see the opponents names. I do agree - someone bragging in GW2 is fine by me, if they are actually good. However, if I rolled a minstrel and started bragging because of how awesome I am, it's just annoying because I'm not actually good, I just play a very overpowered class.

I hope your right in regards to structured pvp, don't have time to look it up right now. As far as being good in GW2 pvp, there will be a distinct line I think between good players and poor players (surely in structured pvp) do to the fact of the way combat is. In traditional mmos RNG factors in highly in outcomes of fights, if you fail to BPE on a massive strike it can absolutely cripple your ability to win the fight. As I am sure you know there is no auto dodge/evade in GW2, like an FPS this will be all controlled by you. The ability to strafe around your opponent will also be pretty important as this once again help with your ability to avoid hits. Add to this mirrored classes and a skill and gear set that is available to everyone and you have an environment that rewards skilled players while punishing face rollers with a constant butt kicking. This all of course in structured pvp since we know there will be some gear differences in WvWvW with the ability for you to enter at roughly 10.
As far as the minstrel comment there is so much to it, there is gear (the difference between those that do or do not have gear), the fact that they can do awesome damage on the move and heal practically on the move to boot. Couple that with no mirrored class creep side and a very startling lack in heal debuffs in this game and the minstrel becomes right now an OP class. But honestly I don't think minstrels are broken as so much as I think creepside lacks a proper equal and an outright counter.
As far as switching servers, unless they have a global channel, most those people they would be complaining about wouldn't even be able to hear them out in the Mists. The best thing they have done is put a massive penalty on trying to switch for pvp reasons (see switching to the winning server constantly).

GW2's PvP will need more skill than ever. As said, gear/avoidances do not contribute to the fight in Stuctured PvP. The correct use of the dodge function, aiming yout skills and knowing which skill to use at which time will be more important than ever.
This all of course in structured pvp since we know there will be some gear differences in WvWvW with the ability for you to enter at roughly 10.
I think you can join World PvP as soon as you finish the tutorial.
