Thread: PremiumWallet - Barter items in wallet, finally!

Should be free for VIP players, no discussion about that (either free or available to buy with in-game gold).

Not on the live servers. Right now, people are gettig the information only from what is on Bullroarer.

If you are asking about on Bullroarer, yes it is there. Do a search for Wallet and you should find it.

Ah, I see. Hope they add it to the live store soon. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. So much more bank space cleared out.

Whether it should be free to VIP or or what not discussion aside, I love this new wallet and will pay for it...It just looks so good and is intuitive!!

The new Premium Wallet does appear to have caused quite a controversy. I do hope that the devs and Turbine take notice of this thread and consider either reducing the price for VIPs or making it free for them altogether.

People need to stop being so enthusiastic about buying this. Your only going to encourage them to charge more for it when it really should be free, at least to VIPs.

Lifer here. I don't have a HUGE problem with this.

I'm more concerned that the Turbine logo at login has gone away in favor of a WB Games logo.

THAT worries me.

Turbine Managment listened to it's players and improved barter wallet and put this improvement into store.

If you stick out the full splash screen, it's a WB Games logo morfing into a Turbine logo. Not too strange that they would want their logo on the game seeing as WB has owned Turbine for quite a while...

I get this included with my SWTOR sub, why don't I get it as VIP in lotro? This is sorry turbine.

Should it be free to vip's? Well I get 500 tp/month so it kind of is free. Although I am essentially paying for those points so I am kinda paying for it also.

I'm willing to split the difference and call it a good buy at only 1 purchase per account for all your characters.

I wold pay double the price withot blinking wiht an eye if I could store all my IXP-Runes of all my characters in it.
Hoping for a second option wich includes them aswell.

Well, at least with U6 all IXP runes are bound to account so you can put them in shared storage for example, and then use them with whatever character you like. Haven't checked if they have upgraded the stack sizes as well.

But yes, I really would like this as well. I guess devs haven't done this because first they would have to figure out how to use items that are in wallet (as you have to click IXP rune and then choose the LI)

Turbine had to spend money to implement this feature, so they are charging money to make it back. Why does this surprise anyone? Whether or not it "should have been in the game all along" (highly debateable) is irrelavant. If it had been, the game would have been more expensive to begin with to justify the development costs.

I haven't been F2P for awhile, but my guess is that there are a lot more pressing things F2P will spend their money on before this. Most of the payback for Turbines development costs are going to have to come from VIPs.

There isn't that much I spend my 500 TP/month on, so I will be picking this up as soon as U6 goes live.

So I have a question about the wallet, although I realize there hasn't been an opportunity to test this, but maybe people have some speculative ideas:

How do you think the Premium Wallet will be affected by character transfers across servers?

Right now, as I understand it -- anything that is in Shared Storage does NOT transfer, but anything that is in a character's personal Vault DOES transfer. Given that this new Wallet is essentially acting like Shared Storage, my guess is that anything inside it wouldn't transfer.

Having gone from VIP to Premium when Turbine messed up my billing last summer, that sentence actually is pretty horrible, as you will need to have the TP to purchase the update if you drop from VIP to Premium. You wont be able to get quests in the area, even if you are kindred with all the factions while you were VIP. I got the VIP back, but.. it was pretty horrible not being able to do Mirkwood, Enedwaith and Lothlorien since they said I did not buy the quest packs. I would bet the same applies to the wallet. Oh, plus all your whatever the replacement Destiny points are called go poof.

In my opinion (you know, as a paying customer) this should be free for VIPs. Honestly, it is an obvious addition to game play that should have been present when they first made the barter wallet, and charging VIPs for it--and charging such a huge amount of TP--is lame.
Here's another fact: most other games don't have such a poorly designed interface, barter system(s), and storage system(s) as LOTRO, nor do they charge their playerbase for such simple fixes to improve on a ###### system.

It is amazing people put up with a game where the company expects us to pay for a half-#### system in the first place and then pay AGAIN later to have it FIXED. derp

As much as I hate the store I dont see any issue with them selling this there. It is not something that we have to have, but it will be something nearly everyone will want and get. I think this will become the biggest selling item in the store since it was introduced.

Turbine this is the type of item that gets you good press, one time purchase, account wide, you win and we win so almost everyone is happy.

I would think it doesn't transfer, on the other hand maybe you could transfer at least Marks if you spend them on a soldier and then buy the reset scroll. With Seals and such I think you are out of luck. Unless there is an item you can trade in and out.

So I used the fake TPs and bought the premium wallet and went to my vault, which was full and put everything that would go into it, into it. Including some things I didn't know would go into it like boss drop housing items in their original barter form. The results was that I freed up over 25 spaces in my vault, on just one character. Since you don't have access to your live shared storage, this didn't include items from there.

That 1000 TP price tag is looking better and better all the time.

i think you´re mixing things up here. Everyone gets the basic wallet /that stores marks/medallions/seals, commendations and relic shards). Noone gets the premium wallet for free (the one that stores barter items). So it does not matter if you go from VIP to Premium, you will have the same access to the wallet.

You also wont lose stuff.

As a Lifer I can say this is one of the most useful upgrades I could spend TPs for.

I didn't see any account bound items in the wallet however, somehow I was expecting them to have their own category.

It's colour-coded: green text means the item is bound to account, white text means the item is bound to character.

Appologies if this has been asked/answered already but ive not read through all the pages. You say that Green writing is bind on account....the seals/medallions and Shards are green on that SS. Does this mean they are changing to BoA. Would be a big bonus for us alt-a-holics if thats the case

Oh thanks ... I wasn't looking close enough, I was looking for Moria medallions, but apparently this guy didn't have any

My bad. Well, I'm perfectly happy now, couldn't be better.
Well, some landscape rewards should be account bound in my opinion, but that's nothing I would write a rage thread about.

Actually plenty of people WANT their money to be char separated.
This suggestion was made quite a few times and everytime some auction house players wanted to have their money separated. Some insist on the old fashioned bank characters.

I don't care really, I send all my money to one char anyway.

Ok, it was split between cash and bank storage anyway from the beginning. At one point in the game however, a 3rd option was added. Once every few days or so you could transfer a large amount of money to the galactic bank and also withdraw from there every few days. The sums were so high it really was no handicap that it was only possilble once every few days. This was also a protection agains gold farmers who hacked accounts. They were not able to withdraw everything from the REALLY rich people.

The Turbine Point Squirrel gives out Acorns daily. Just make sure you login daily to get your acorns and apply them to your account. It builds up. The more Turbine Points you have, the easier it is to test things (in the store, with legendaries, with skirmish soldiers, etc..) Use it to your full advantage!

Yeah, at the time of Update 5 Beta testing (which these characters are a snapshot of - they won't let us copy our current characters if you copied in Update 5 beta testing) I had moved all my Moria Medallions to my guardian. I was leveling him up and used them to get armor.

I think this is exactly the kind of stuff that the store should be selling. Its pure convenience. It will save some a ton of inventory spaces. It prevents alt swapping.

It does NOT, in any form or fashion make game content easier or give a competitive advantage against others as stat tomes or relics in the store do.

When I first heard of the store, I was excited about the ability to buy extra inventory space or character slots. Its mostly been used as a way to create grind with the sole purpose of allowing the store to ease the grind created with the store in mind (tasks, stat tomes, etc.)... every once in a while a great feature gets added like this that highlights how cool the store could be by selling content and convenience items.

This is what I'm actually excited about the most for Update 6. I have trashed so many STACKS of items that I would have rather kept simply because my inventory couldn't hold it and better things needed a home. This is well worth the ONE TIME cost of roughly 1,000 TP for an ACCOUNT wide feature like this.

If anyone wants to gripe about how ridiculous stat tomes are in the store... I'll agree until the cows come home. But that poor decision doesn't take away from this good one.

How is it acceptable to charge so that the "Barter" wallet will hold "Barter Items"?

It would be like the Quest log only showing tasks unless you pay for the "Premium" Quest Log which shows quests as well.

I'll gladly pay for this feature... but if VIPs no longer get basic functionality for free, I'd just as well not pay the monthly fee on top of it, and that's precisely what I'm going to do if this goes live as it is now.

It is possible to add this feature to everyone, or at least VIPs and then offer a charge for some upgraded version of it, for instance if the basic version held all barter items, and the advanced allows them to be shared. THAT would be justifiable paying for along with a subscription.

It just seems like the monthly fee is extraneous at this point. $14.99 apparently buys me $7.99 worth of points per month, and little else.

I agree that this seems like the sort of item that should be in the Store and, frankly, I'll probably buy it.

I also agree with those that are a little miffed that the fix/upgrade/whatever this is to the barter wallet that we've been expecting and somewhat promised since its inception is being sold in the Store rather than just added the game as part of a free patch. But as you say, there have been (and are) far worse things in the Store than this - and personally, I'm well beyond outrage or even disgust and have moved on to mild fatalism and acceptance. When something particularly odious comes along now, I mildly protest but mostly I just think of queen and country and try to accept what's happening.

Great improvement. I remember saying thats what it needed when we beta the wallet.

Im not going to pay 1000 TP for an improvement in something that should have worked that way from day 1.

As a VIP things I will pay for;

A new PVP map.
Expansion areas, skirmish's, and instances.
New Housing areas.
6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th inventory bag for landscape.
6th virtue trait slot.
6th race trait slot.
8th class trait slot.
4th LI trait slot.
Cosmetics.

For accout, not per character. I dont buy per character improvements other than stats.

Yet this isn't really a "convenience vs advantage" issue. This is a "a game system that was admittedly released in an incomplete state and was confirmed by Turbine to be expanded with future updates gets the fix in the store with a price tag" issue. At least that is the part that bothers me. When a Turbine representative tells me that something will be added to the game via an update, I would prefer it to happen so. Not for them to realize they can get away with selling it in the store instead.

Even on repost it is still nonsensical nitpicking. Thats like complaining that you still have to do discovery deeds for instance entrances when we have the new "instance finder".

You´re picking some words and try to turn them into a completely unique™ argument that however has no bearing on the actual problem.

Um... actually, that's nothing at all like what I'm saying. I'm not misinterpreting the functionality of the barter wallet. The expectation is (for a reasonable human being) that barter items will go into it, and in fact that's exactly what will happen if cough up 1000 TP. They're taking something that's already in the game and *does not do what it's supposed to*, and have admitted that it doesn't and then charging us to fix that problem.

It just strikes me as more than a little disingenuous to say that the Barter wallet in-game now wasn't meant to hold additional currency.

It would be fine if after the update the new wallet holds all currency, nothing is shared and you can pay 1000 TP to share it between characters.

That's a basic functionality fix for free AND a worthwhile premium addition that I would happily pay for and maintain my VIP account. Instead they went the greedy route and implemented a feature that they stated in the past was a deficiency in the current system. They knew a lot of people were waiting for this and slapped a price tag on it. It's a money grab plain and simple.

I understand people have this fanatical loyalty to whatever MMO company they're currently paying money to, but I guess I'm not one of them. I love the game, and will continue playing and giving Turbine money, but if this is how it's going to be, they'll get it from me in much smaller increments via F2P until such time that I can see a justification in providing them with $15.00/mo on top of paying for new content (which is fine) and UI upgrades (which is not).
