Thread: PremiumWallet - Barter items in wallet, finally!

It's nice that they've finally added this. It's a shame that they're charging for it.

Still, it was awesome to be able to put all my barter tokens in the wallet. Cleared up soooo much space! Once the items get pulled out of your vault they automatically go into your Wallet. The items with green names are Bind to Account. Items with white names are Bound to Character.

Hmmmm, I read about this in the release notes and thought "at long last!", but having to pay nearly 1000 TP?

Not so sure about that, I know it would be a one off payment per account, but even so it does seem rather steep. Should we have to pay at all for it? What are other people's thoughts, what seems reasonable? 200 TP? Free?

EVERYONE is going to want this feature and I just think it seems like a bit of a big asking price.

I'm beyond the point of expecting to be given anything for free. I think it would be a nice gesture if it were free (or discounted) to VIPs, but I would have been shocked if even that were the case.

And you're right about everyone wanting to have this. It's just too good not to have and frankly, I think they would sell just about as many of them if they charged twice as much. So, I'm not going to complain about spending 1,000 TP on this. It's a rare occurrence in that I will think of it as TP well spent.

Oh, so they are going to charge us for that feature, that was supposed to be free back when Barter Wallet was introduced? I am not glad about that, BUT that disappointment is outweighted by happiness, because this frees up quite a lot of inventory space, AND it's good to see that even shards are shared between all your characters! There is no doubt, I am buying this for sure.

One question though, I think patch notes said about IXP runes being shared between account as well. What about those, do they go to this premium barter wallet as well?

Is it 1k tp for account wide improved wallet or if you have 9 chars you need 9k tp to buy it for every charr?

Is this the new trend? What's next? Will we eventually see the need to spend TP in order to use skills?

It is still not right IMO, VIPs should at least get 50% descount if not free such Premium and VIP functionalities. Thets why they are called VIPs after all...

Well, as a part of the U6, it should be free for VIP. We didn't pay for the Finder for example. Even for Premium it's really expensive... it's almost the price of the isengard raid/6 man/3 man ! You have to scale your price accordingly to others content and what it cost in real money.

We have to pay the patch now ? Come on Turbine. You have made a step ahead with the relic removal scroll but with this, you do a step back.

Way I see it, it's the same as Shared Storage. Everyone has to buy it.

I don't mind, if only because it's Account rather than Character.

Umm ... 'Newly Created Characters' ... What does that exactly mean? Hopefully, it does not mean that any current characters are not eligible. Surely that would be a MAJOR mistake!

It is not " basic game functionality". It's extra feature. Also not EVERYONE want it. Many ppl doesnt have alts.

Well, then lets do so. A one-time investment of 995TP will clear 10-20 inventory slots of *every* higher level character, and every character to come. Compare that to the hideous prices for premium storage and the equation gets even better.

As to the question why VIP have to pay for this, this is indeed ambiguous. On the one hand it is a non-essential upgrade, on the other hand something that squarely falls into the type of quality-of-life upgrade one would expect from paying a monthly sub. I can also see Turbines ache to offer this free for VIP while it most certainly will be yet another unlock that stays even after dropping subscription, for technical reasons alone.

A fair solution IMO would be to introduce 10-20 free shared storage slots with going VIP. That way every VIP will have the same functionality albeit at less convenience, and have all these barter items bound to account (dont know if they arent already, havent been on the new Bullroarer).

I read this as a clumsily worded assurance that every new character after the purchase will get this as well. Turbine and words, an ongoing war, now transferred from the german/french battlegrounds to the English heartland.

You are right but Turbine also decrease current Store-ization of the game. So i think it's a fair trade-off.

Things that are needed sometimes are now in-game at the cost of payed extra features that is not needed by current MMORPG standards. Fair deal i think.

Well it's not really fun from premium players standpoint too. Tossing away 2.5k TP for an update 6 is really high price for basically a quest pack with better barter wallet...Have to say I really feel for people that try to play LOTRO trully free.

And I would feel sorry for the devs that had to develop a game without any income. Bottom line is that it looks like they have done a good job with the new wallet system and it will free up lots of storage space so sort of paying for itself. If you have quite a few alts it is a good deal. Otherwise you probably dont need it. Overall a good feature, fairly priced IMO.

I just think it was an unfortunate choice of name. Should have been called Enhanced Wallet. Just because they used the same word, doesn't mean it is the same concept.

One amusing side effect. You can use the Enhanced Wallet to store fish!

I dont, I can only sympathize. Video games are a luxury pleasure. If you cannot afford it, you cant smoke, you cant go dancing, you cant go on holiday. LotrO and MMOs in general are still a supremely affordable pastime if played for any length per month. I do like that people can play it completely for free with enough effort, but this is obviously not the intended way.

That being said, the "high" prices we see are a result of Turbines leniency in TP grants that has come back to bite them in the rear end. I´ve said this before, bringing one character recently from the low 60s to 75 with some pick-up deeds on the side netted me ~1500TP. Turbine devaluated TP so much at endgame that the prices have to be adjusted accordingly to make any money off of players with a decent amount of quest packs.

Whilst I applaud the fact you have finally gotten around to sorting this, I strongly condemn your increasing greedy, penny pinching ways. It's sickening to see.

Hehehe, looks like Turbine found a way to have the vast majority of the active accounts pay their 1000TPs coming U6, VIPs or not. A global wallet, accessible from all my characters, freeing me tons of vault space and saving me thousands of TPs in vault upgrades... will gladly pay those 1000TPs.

I don't have a problem with this costing TP. I paid extra for the shared storage with SoM before F2P. And I will have no problem paying for this. I think the Premium Wallet fits into "Convenience, not Advantage".

There's plenty of other items in the store that doesn't though.

Well, at least I can understand Shared Storage... that's a whole new system. Players have been asking and wondering why their reputation items didn't fit into the Barter Wallet from the moment it got introduced. This isn't some 'Premium Feature', it's just a half-finished feature that they decided to finish for a premium fee...

Expecting with Update 6.1: Guaranteed bug-free Draigoch, only 750TP each run!

This is a pretty fundamental upgrade. I understand that Turbine doesn't want to give the feature away to f2p and premium players or allow them to exploit the system by subscribing for a month just to get it then going back to premium, but they need to seriously consider a better price point for long-term VIP's. We were rewarded for our loyalty with retroactive TP back when f2p first launched, is there no way to do the same thing here?

Something along the lines of:
f2p/premium - 995 TP
1 month VIP - 795 TP
3 month VIP - 495 TP
6+ month VIP - 295 TP

This way, f2p/premium players can choose to buy raw points to buy the upgrade or subscribe for a month (as they would if the feature were free to VIP's) and still have to spend a little extra in addition to their monthly TP allowance. Meanwhile players who have been VIP since RoI launch get the upgrade virtually free by spending their TP allowance and longer-term players get it for less because of their continued investment in the product.

Seem fair?

Might have been fair if Turbine had any way to determine how many months of vip an account had actually paid for. You don't want to charge somebody full price that dropped their subscription last week or had to let it drop for a couple of weeks inbetween after paying for several years worth of subscriptions up to that point, it wouldn't be fair. The general concept of this wallet appeals to me very much, it will easily empty 50+ storage slots across my characters . Being a player with a severe case of altitis and a solid amount of TP on the account (lots of alts means lots of deed fulfilments ) I can easily see this is a very good deal for me.

A few questions:

The account-bound items in the wallet, do they magically appear in the wallet of all characters of the same server? Or do I have to transfer them from one to another still?

Somebody mentioned fish will go in there, too ... does this only mean tropy fish, or those needed for cooking, too? If so, are they shared among the characters on one server, or how does my fishing alt move them to my cooking alt?

The skirmish marks, medaillons and seals are green in that screenshot, does that mean those are shared across all characters now, too (effectively allowing my capped minstrel to farm seals and medaillons so my warden can barter them for Draigoch armour pieces as soon as she hits 75)?

What is NOT Free is the Premium Barter Wallet which will upgrade the new wallet from just Marks, Medaliions, Seals etc.... to holding all Barter Items (even those not shared)

And I can guarantee that the majority of VIP/Lifers will gladly pay 1k TP for this

I hate the store as much as the next guy, but this... This is a good thing, and worth the 1k TP

Looks like they are just in the wallet of all your characters. It may be the case you have to log in a certain character for their contribution to be added to the total, but I had a level 4 alt on the server from last time and all the account-bound currencies were in the wallet when I checked.

Looks like that is a yes. All your characters on the server have access to those account-bound currencies.

Currently, if I run an old instance/area and get Barter tokens I will never use, I can just delete them. With the Premium Wallet, sounds like they'd go into my Wallet forever. I won't have to delete them any more, but they will be there cluttering up my Wallet -- so for me, I'm glad the Premium Wallet is a choice, not something forced on me.

The Wallet is the same for all characters. Once things are in there, you can acess them from all chars. Stuff from the vault gets transferred to vault once you try to put it in any chars´ inventory.

There is one exception: Money!
For whatever reason, Money is not shared between chars o.O Well, hopefully gonna get fixed before live.

Just a guess: Cooking fish are crafting ingredients, while trophy fishes are barter items. So only the latter should wander there.

Yes. Which basically means the whole soldier on the landscape thing will mostly be used as yet another fast level help. Not that there´s a problem with that.

The store purchase increases the functionality of this wallet (i.e. moria medalions, bound to character barter items) and the only (though huge) advantage of it is saving a lot of space in your vault.

Not that one game necessarily has any influence over what happens in the other, but a shared money vault is available in DDO to VIP players and purchasable in the Store by non-VIP. I would not be surprised to see something similar added in the future. That way, VIP players could get something for subscribing and everyone else will still be able to upgrade to it.

So "free" applies only to the fact that it will be account wide? Then it's not new, just slightly enhanced. The real "new" is the premium one and fact that they charge for it is a low blow, because in its current state it is half-baked. Not going to buy it. I'll probably just delete my moria medallions/lorien leaves/etc junk.

They could add a possibility to trade them for marks/medallions. Evel getting 5 marks for 1 silver branch would be acceptable to me.

It depends how you look at it
The premium wallet does not bring anything game-changing. Only saves space in storage. Moria and OD medalions are bound to account already now and some players used it for shiny teal gear for new alts. I must say my guard really enjoyed wearing a full dps t1 OD set the first hour she hit lvl65.

Seals and medalions are not shared now. So it is something new that they will become bound to account and you can give the seals from your frequently raiding char to a new alt. And this new functionality of the wallet comes "for free"

(I am not supporting this decision of turbine to place the premium wallet in the store, but they are not breaking rules here. The premium wallet can be considered as some extra shared storage which is a popular purchase but not must have.)
