I feel dumb asking this, but how does Guardian's Promise work? I tried using it while standing next to a selected fellowship member, and only I received a whistle. He checked several times, and I destroyed my whistle and used the skill again several times trying to get it to work, but to no avail. Is it a glitch, or am I doing something wrong? I would really appreciate if a fellow Guardian could give me directions on how to use this skill. Thanks!

You trade it with another player. They keep hold of it until they want to summon you, then it dissappears on use.
Incidentally make sure you're not likely to be getting into combat when being summoned - had an embarrassing moment where a random orc walked up and interrupted the summon, meaning my friend lost the whistle and I didn't go anywhere.
Alright, thank you so much my fellow (and obviously much superior) Guardians! Now I understand! I was wondering why I got one, although I thought maybe everyone in my fellowship did, including me even though I can't use one. Now I really feel dumb, although they don't offer any directions on how to use this skill, so it is kind of understandable I think. but, I guess it makes sense that you whittle a whistle and then give it to someone, rather that you whittling it and it appearing in someone else's inventory. Thanks for the advice about not doing it in combat, I will make sure am safe when I use it.

You have to be in a fellowship with the player that is summoning you for it to work. It's a great little item that I use to port from here to there if I don't have a skill or milestone for the location. Just a mail it to a friend who is there and you're set
Actually I'm glad it puts it in your inventory instead of nearby fellowship members. It has a quick cooldown and I always keep my friends stocked with them. Since I create one on the spot I can just pop it in the mail to someone (perfect way to get yourself summoned from any mailbox location to any mailbox location - just find someone at the other end - and postage is far cheaper than most swift travels).
