    Tailoring Guild Needed?

My guardian is an armorer and is a member of the metalsmithing guild. Since he is an armorer he also has access to tailoring, which I can get mats for because my hunter is a woodsman. Basically what I'm wondering is should I use my armorer for tailoring as well as metalsmithing (meaning I won't be in the tailoring guild) or would it be better if a future character joins the tailoring guild.

Basically what I'm asking is how necessary is the tailoring guild for making good use of the tailor profession.

there is only 2 good things in the tailor guild or any craft guild and that is LI's and crafted relics. The best relics are bind on acquire so you have to make them for yourself. So all chars will need to be in a guild at least to kin. Guild recipes are useless because of the cooldowns. It takes too long to make a set of armour. Now weaponsmith might be an exception to that, but still there are better weapons that can be easily acquire as rewards , as raid drops, or in the AH. As a note all my jewelry except 1 barter and 1 reward are all instance jewelry I found on the AH.

WARNING: leveling a warden may cause you to neglect your other characters.

I'd actually argue that the armour is absolutely something you can make through the guild, all that's needed is a bit of forethought and making the symbols/patterns ahead of time. Yes, it'll take 6 weeks or so to make a full set of patterns, but all the end-result recepies has separate cooldowns.

However, for a Guardian Armourer I'd suggest sticking with the intuitive Metalsmiths guild, UNLESS you have many alts leveling up that are using light or medium armour AND no Explorer. (Tailors guild is the only one available to Explorers)

It depends. If that future char is one who needs medium or light armor (e.g. a burglar / warden (medium) or a minstrel (light) ) one could choose an explorer which joins the tailor guild.
Why explorer: since that is the generalist in the vocations: prospector (= ore + specials), forester (wood + specials, and manufacturing hides into leather) and tailor (which can make light and medium armour from the leather the forester makes).

I'd def keep your guard in the metalsmiths guild but I think you're right in wanting an alt in the tailors guild somewhere down the line.

If you have alts many are likely to be light or medium armour wearers and don't forget even heavies need cloaks! Many of the most desirable cloaks in game are crafted. There's also things like cappie flags and armaments, burg signals and so on.

I have 10 combat alts 3 of which are guild tailors and much of the time they're flat out busy and in demand for gear from my own alts and friends.
