I've moved to SWTOR. I'll probably be moving (again) to GW2 when it comes out, but that's another matter entirely.
There are things I like about SWTOR, and things I really miss about it. If you know/knew me at all, send me a forum message and we'll talk about it. I'll explain why I left, and why I'm staying with SWTOR.
Hugs to my guildies! Send me a forum message!

LoL, ofc you are a traitor, you always have been :P
I hope u6 brings lots of fun till everyone is dragged with the current of GW2 so you can be miserable!!!!
Srsly tho, hope you have fun doing what you want, sad to have had you back for such a short time
There's just... something missing in LOTRO that I keep leaving to try and find in other games. Hasn't succeeded yet, but you never know.
[Deleted long, boring textwall comparing RIFT, LOTRO, and SWTOR.]
The only reason I came back to LOTRO from RIFT is because of the community. I missed my guild, and once I hit cap I had to come back. I'll probably get bored of SWTOR too, and expect me to come back unless the community is 100% different at endgame.
But when GW2 comes out, I'm gone and never looking back. It's the first MMO I've looked at that actually seems significantly different, in stead of "more of the same, but with shinier graphics!".
The Guardian class looks like everything I hoped Captain would be. I expected Captain to have an active role in support, but really the vast majority of the support is pre-fight buffs, and then using several skills the moment the icon lights up. Other than that, it's a choice of whether you spam your single heal, or whether you spam your 6 DPS skills on cooldown.
GW2 could be a colossal failure, but from what I've seen, and the videos I've watched, it looks like an incredible improvement over what we have now in the MMO world. The banishment of the "Holy Trinity" and massive WvWvW fights in particular make me drool.
The moment I hear of GW2 actually coming out, I'll be checking the crickhollow forums for the mass exodus to the same server that TDH should be organizing at that point. Then I'll get the mechanics of GW2 with the community of LOTRO. Win
In the mean time, if any of you feel the force calling you, I'm Acromir on "The Swiftsure" server. And I'm a Jedi, not a stinking Sith.
Oh, and the Jawas are obnoxious. I do not particularly enjoy them. Huttball is okay, but only in short doses, and I imagine it would be far better with a premade. But I really went to SWTOR so that I could stab people with a lightsaber :P

If U6 really does make that drastic of an improvement, then I will come back. After all, I have a reasonably well-geared character at level cap. Not like I'd have to grind all the way up to cap or anything.

Acro gl man on any game u go on. We love u and always wait for u to come back to lotro when u see that gw2 will not be good enough either.. Cause face it.. Nothing beats lotro.. Every time something with big PR comes along every one is hasty to jump to it just to find that its not that great anyway. Yeah i ve seen the vids too and i was amazed but still looks like any other game to me.. Same could go for diablo 3 pvp vids. Anyway you got one thing right for sure.. Community here is great and whats a mmo without good ppl eh? Take care and drop by once in a while even just to say hi!
It's great to read that you're playing on the Republic side Acro. Everyone (seriously, it seems that way) and their relatives play on the Imperial side - it's ridiculous. Only time will tell if that game lives up to its claims = the developers actually listen to their community and make changes/corrections/patches accordingly.
My family has been subscribers to LOTRO since 2007, pre-quest tracker and before mediocre gamers needed to have "buff-bars" in order to pay attention to the mechanics.
Everyone that reads these forums have one thing in common outside of being LOTR fans, we're gamers/consumers (well, at least most of us are). You can't expect consumers of a product to stick around if they've identified flaws, discrepancies and issues that can lead to problems - and have poor response from the vendor in acknowledging and taking action. On top of that, to see the game strip you're lost time away and provide buffs/bonuses to new subscribers via 'purchase' in the LOTRO store.
I do hope that the Turbine/WB relationship builds on the large fan base that continues to stick around.
./salute to free speech.

Precisely. And that's what Turbine needs to remember, there are hundereds and possibly thousands of gamers that participate in Beta/Palantir to give feedback on their product - if they don't act on the input received they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Update 6 has me very hopeful about that - lots of changes that people have actually asked for - making several store-only scrolls obtainable through playing (we'll see about droprates though), trying to fix broken classes (we'll see how that plays out though), several quality of life updates people have been asking for (there was even one about housing omg) and lastly, FINALLY an area that FEELS epic and middle-earthy, I checked the new area in beta - finally there are mobs you feel afraid of back on the landscape (think what you saw between Barad Gularan and the physical Rift only less dense) and the landscape itself is not just boring plains sprinkled with trees here and there, it was like Angmar meets Trollshaws meets Eregion and Enedwaith, I actually felt awed for the first time since I started playing this game and went through areas for the first time (Dunland and even Isengard was NOTHING compared to that).
And then there are changes that are still questionable, of course (like with the new jewellery and r14 virtue cap, the creeps should get a small buff as well (which they don't atm, ofc)). But I really believe Turbine has tried to make an effort with U6.
