    Housing... how bad is it?

    Hi everyone,

I just re-rolled on this server after restarting the game recently. I came from Elendilmir, which seemed kinda empty when I was running around, so I picked Brandywine specifically.

Now I'm almost regretting my choice. I know I need to save up my gold to get a house, but from what I've read, most of the houses are picked over, purchased, but unoccupied. Just how bad is the housing on this server? If I save up for a Deluxe elven house to place in The Shire, am I going to be able to do that..? Give me the skinny.

Um, no matter how much you save, you're never going to be able to do THAT lol. A Deluxe Hobbit house in the Shire, maybe.

Last I checked (several days ago) deluxe houses were gone...was it Bree, or the Shire, or both? Can't remember. But eventually they do add new neighborhoods, so you just need to be vigilant, and check the housing broker in the homestead you want daily. Happy house hunting!

Haha, shows how much I know about housing!!

Truthfully I haven't even made it over to a housing development yet to check things out, I was just reading up on the forums, specifically the housing forums, and there were several threads about the "neighborhood cap" being reached on this server, and that new neighborhoods would never open up gain for Brandywine, which made my heart sink. This was, of course, nothing official from the devs or anything, just player speculation, but knowing how populated Brandywine is, and has been, it worries me about the amount of abandoned houses there are rumored to be.

I don't know much about housing but a couple of months ago I decided to buy a deluxe house and I was able to find one easily in the Shire. Of course things can change in a few months.

Last I heard, there are no deluxe houses available in Bree or Thorin's. They won't be adding new neighborhoods anytime soon either because they have hit the limit they coded for neighborhoods.

There are still Shire and Elf homes available though.

I must say the Shire neighborhoods are gorgeous too. My house sets on a little hill overlooking a pond with a gazebo in the middle of it. Very nice.

Re: Housing... how bad is it?

Ive been looking for an elf deluxe for AGES now finally gave up and got a standard since I couldn't wait any longer as I was seeing fewer and fewer standard homes as well.

They need to do something about the ghost homes forever locked in forclosure on this server. 70 percent of bought homes are locked. leaving active members without the chance to get a house. Ive even heard of people making an account kin with all their toons and buying a kin house since they had such trouble finding a house. even -I'M- debating doing that since my main is a rich elf I RP. So a small standard does NOT fit her in the least. (plus I cant decorate such a tini house the way I would like)

I'm lucky enough to have a Deluxe and a Kin house to myself in the Elf housing. I should have never abandoned my house in Bree, didn't realize how hard they are to come by.

Re: Housing... how bad is it?

Out of curiosity I checked out the housing on this server through my hubbys account & holy cow the houses are so picked over. There are no single or deluxe homes in Bree, no deluxe in The Shire but have some single. What's interesting is I see many kin homes though available.

I agree they need to do something about the housing on this server because it is not fair to the current players be stuck with just about nothing its getting too.

Re: Housing... how bad is it?

Not a single deluxe elf house was available when I checked in December of 2011.
There were some non-deluxe house available then.

I know they have been looking into abandoned houses because my neighbors was reclaimed by turbine. It was occupied when I purchased in December, but about 2 weeks ago a for-sale sign shows up on the law and all the decorations are gone.

Just have to look into them yourself and see what is available.
