Thread: Crashes!

I just signed up for the free trial and I want to play the game and decide if I am gonna pay for it.
I got the High resolution download, and Im using Windows 7 32 bit
I get into the character screen just fine, but when I double click my character, I crash after a brief view of the loading screen
I get a message 'lotroclient.exe has stopped working'
I live in South Korea, if that matters.
Here is my computer specs
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
CPU speed: 2.7GHz
Ram: 2.1 GB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (build 7600), 32-bit
Video card: GeForce 8600 GT
-video ram: 1011.2 MB
-Pixel, Vertex shader: 4.0
Sound Card: High Definition Audio?????? <----this really showed up on the results
Free disk space: 117.7 GB (but I think this will not matter)

I used canyourunit for the results.
oh, and I tried using dx10 and dx9. Both of them crashes.
I can't even start my character I am really MAD xD
I have allowed the firewall to allow turbineinvoker, turbinelauncher, and lotroclient, so I don't think this is a matter with firewall.

If you need anymore information that would help your answer, don't hesitate to ask. I REALLY want to play this game not just because I want to play a mmorpg, I am a big fan of The Lord of the Rings and I watch the movies like every month.

Hey, there,

Your rig looks old, but you should still be able to play. I'd recommend either posting your dxdiag (there's a sticky on how to do it) or find out, yourself, if your video card drivers are up to date. That's the first place I'd start. If they're not the most recent available once, go ahead and update them and see if it makes a difference.

As a test is there any change if you revert the keyboards default (input) language to "English (US)" (regional settings in control panel) ?

It looks like your graphics drivers are around 3 years out of date. Even if it doesn't fix the problem, updating the drivers should generally increase performance elsewhere, if there are drivers available. I would definitely recommend checking with your father about doing that.

If I install the latest graphics driver from the website, will it affect anything else in a negative way?(ex. programs not running etc.)

It could, but most likely won't. If it does you can roll the driver back. Do not use beta drivers, or at least i do not recommend them. I know i have had a lot of issues with beta drivers. If all else fails, try downloading the client again but get the standard. I'm not sure if that would make a difference but worth a try if you do not mind the wait, haha.

Sooo I just decided to take matters into my own hands
I went into NVIDIA website and I saw that you CAN download versions for this.
But from here I'm kinda stumped I am only 15 and I don't know all the words about computers
But I do know that the graphic driver I am using is GeForce 8600 GT

In that page I searched

But if I search that I get info about GEFORCE R295 DRIVER, instead of GeFroce 8600 GT
I'm a real noob when it comes to computers xD and I reaally don't want to mess up the computer because I planted a virus on 2 computers by downloading content that was dangerous(mostly games) and some ppl don't trust me with it(especially dad)... Is this the download I need?
If it isn't, could you please tell me where I can download the latest version of my graphics card driver?
I'm not certain whether my dad will allow the update on the driver but I think he will, if it is from the NVIDIA website itself, so he can assume its safe. And he seemed very interested about the problem.

295 is the version number of the driver, this number increases each time a new version of the driver is released

after following the link you posted youve selected "geforce 8M series for notebooks" makesure your using a notebook\laptop. if you use a notebook\laptop only then do you need to tell it which graphics card you have

if your using a desktop PC select "geforce 8 series" followed by the version of windows your using

if your not sure youve selected the corect version drivers for your graphics card click on "supported products" just bellow the download button. this will tell you all the graphics cards the drives will work for

dont worry if you download the wrong version of the drivers it should tell you when your installing that it can not find the hardware that the driver is designed for on your computer

Graphic drivers do have updates. They do make a big difference in some cases. EX: Rage had a HUGE graphic problem, but after AMD/Nvidia released a driver to address the issue, it was fixed. in most cases drivers will stop graphic issues and crashes with games, but they can also cause issues with others. So you have to find the one that works for all. But almost 99% of the time, the latest one will work without issues.

No luck. I have updated the graphics card in to the latest version, but it the same problem keeps happening. I double click my character, and I get a brief view of the loading screen, and then I get 'lotroclient.exe has stopped working' Does anyone have another solution?
