I was wondering if Guardians could please get some OP love in Riders of Rohan. When I say OP love, I mean can we make OP a viable role for any size group/raid? I only ask this because Champions are easily allowed to fulfill either role of DPS or tank, yet Guardian is basically only a tank. OP is a lot of fun, and at times I don't always feel like tanking and would love to throw on the ole two hander and wreak some havoc in a raid
BUT, please hear me out. DO NOT bother with this until all other major concerns with other classes are fixed. Some classes are in need of some major love before you guys consider doing this, and in fairness sake, I'd rather that get taken care of. Such as the Warden Revamp coming soon, I hope its what the Warden's need. If not, I'd rather them fix Wardens appropriately before worrying about a 2nd role for the Guardian when another class has trouble filling their intended role
i dont think its a bad idea a guard in OP can dish some damage but it is more a bias with the classes (in my opinion) than a lack of ability. like one of the highest dps in game is a mini in war speech but u dont c them getting taken for dps either.
It is well to remember when hunting monsters not to become one yourself

Please show us a screen of your guard best DPS on a galtrev dummy with combat analysis. I challenge you to go over the 1k DPS mark for a two minute fight without any buff. Any DPS class will easily sustain more than 1k DPS for as long as they wish (with no buff). For guards, reaching this is hard, sustaining it is near impossible.
I think, and this is just an opinion/guess, that one of the reasons why Guards in OP don't do rocking amounts of damage, and can't even do that underwhelming damage for very long, is one simple fact: we're a tanking class.
Before I continue, I would like to expand on the irony of a class skill called "overwhelm" in what I've characterized as an "underwhelming" dps stance. Maybe it's only funny to me...
Moving on, I think that EXACTLY BECAUSE of the fact that our DPS is roughly 10-20 levels below any other class in the raid that it's pretty sure that we're not picking up aggro any time soon unless we specifically choose to using engage/CS.
So we know that, if things go south, ie, the MT dies, or one of the healers die, or something, we can be fairly sure that (barring aoe attacks etc) the OP Guard will still be standing. Since armor switching in combat (and definitely weapon/shield switching) in combat, is allowed then you're only a couple of aliases away from being a respectable "oh s***" tank. Having a tank, even one not traited for tanking, able to pick up a target or three and have a decent chance of staying alive for a while as they beat on him, could mean the difference between a total wipe and a glorious "I can't believe we pulled that off" moment.
That being said...if that IS the reason why OP sucks so much, then it's so situational as to be non-existent. In my opinion, you're either going to wipe or you're going to get the guy down. While "skin of the teeth" victories do happen, I would say they're relatively uncommon. And even less common when an OP guard is in the raid, for the simple reason that it's just so uncommon to find an OP guard in any serious raid...
Edit: Still, if this is an accurate guess, I think it's pretty ###### that we're being so severely hamstrung in DPS stance simply on the off-chance that we might be needed to "unveil" ourselves and shine to our true potential. I don't know the "bad" traitlines for other classes very well, but the only one I can think of is the "Trapper" hunter. No one plays that line because it sucks compared to what a hunter can do with another build. Of course, WB/Turbine is not holding a gun to anyone's head forcing anyone to play OP guard or Trapper Hunter, but...versatilty of play-style is a pretty central aspect to any character imho.

Yes, we are a tanking class. Just like a Champion is an AoE DPS Class that can trait for heavy single target damage. And a Hunter can trait for some utility if they want.
All the trait lines need to be fleshed out. Each trait line should offer a different role OR a different variation of a role.
Guardian, we have two different tanking trait lines that both serve different purposes. We then have a trait line that focuses on our "dps". If its an ease of solo thing, great! But know this, leveling sword and board as a guardian has to be one of the easiest classes to level next to Warden. Hell, my Guardian didn't die his first time until level 47 while doing a group quest in Angmar and getting way too many adds by mistake, and he leveled OP from level 30 on.
