    javelin use

just a tiny change i'd like, champs should get to use javelins IMO. after all, the champion is meant to be proficient with all kinds of weapons, right? plus aesthetically, i would rather hurl a javelin through the air with all my might than stand back and shoot it with a bow like those tree-hugging elves

afaik the proficiency itself should be easy enough to implement, just add it to trainer at say 30 or 40? though i suppose we'd then need non-LI javelins for higher levels, so that would probably be the main obstacle to getting this through

just thought i'd put this out there, feel free to comment

Nah, let the wardens keep their javelin and cappies their halberds. It is nice for some classes to have their unique weapons. If we were to go outside of that premise, I would rather have consumable lutes where I get to smash people over the head with it.

I'd rather have consumable lutes. To show people how much a bloodthirsty champion cares about your soft acoustic music.

Quoted from the class description "This class is inspired by Gimli son of Glóin, whose skill in arms matched the bow-skill of Legolas." Notice the "bow-skill" part, no javelin use part

    Well!

I guess us "tree hugging elves" are wimps for dueling balrogs and Morgoth himself among other nasties. Feanor and Fingolfin certainly werent afraid of mixing it up in some close combat. I guess axes being the preferred weapon of a lot of elves makes us pansies? Typical. Feel a little insecure now that eldars grace pwns man heal? Your ignorance is reprehensible. Honestly, pansy elves are purely a Peter Jackson and other recent inventions, certainly not very Tolkien.

And on a more serious note: Why would we want to imitate a fail class like wardens? We can already dps better than them. We can already tank better than them. Let them have something unique to call their own.

I agree with you in keeping the unique weapons for cappies and wardens, although, it is extremely satisfying using the ambush skill on my warden. Consumable lutes could be fun... What about off-hand frying pans? ... its kind of lore appropriate...

So I saw javelin use and thought I accidentally went to the wrong forum. Yeah... no javelins please give us crossbows instead.

Champions should be able to hurl entire tree trunks, not sticks and branches like a Warden.

ok javelins and crossbows then - i mean hey we're supposed to be proficient with any weapon right? just thought throwing a huge spear through my target would be more champ-like than a bow plus javelins are already in the game. also please keep the trolling about throwing 2h axes and stuff to yourself, thats an even worse idea than dual-wielding two-handers <.<

Pfft, in comparison to Men Elves were sissies. Let's look at the two groups when they were at full strength, i.e. the First Age for Elves and the Second Age for Men.

After Melkor stole their jewels, the Elves, after some petty infighting, swore a war of vengeance against Morgoth and went back to Middle-Earth to try to make good on theirs oaths. Morgoth then proceeded to wipe the floor with the Elves, until they called on the Valar to bail them out. Yeah, you know you're dealing with a real tough bunch when they go to war to recover some jewelry and fail miserably.

Now we'll look at Men. When Sauron was trying to take control of Middle-Earth, the Men of Numenor sent their army out to stop him. This army was so impressive that Sauron's servants deserted him and he was taken prisoner, though admittedly at his own choosing. The Men of Numenor later went on to assault the Valar (Same group that saved the Elves out earlier), and the Valar called for Eru to bail them out. I think we have a clear winner when the Elves ask for help from the Valar, and the Men make the Valar ask for help from Eru. (For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, the Valar could be considered the gods of Middle-Earth, while Eru was the one who initially created the Valar and could be argued to be their god.)

I will admit that there were some manly Elves, such as the two you mentioned. Feanor was obviously a Champion, because he sprinted out ahead of the raid and died trying to block swords with his face. Fingolfin was obviously a Warden, because he evaded a few attacks and then got one shotted by the boss.

In the Middle Ages, bows were the weapons of the highly trained, highly skilled professionals. Crossbows on the other hand were handed out to random soldiers after a week long crash course because most any idiot could fire them and have some hope of hitting something, assuming they didn't shoot themselves in the leg first. Clearly, champions should have been using crossbows from the beginning.

cuz javelins just look cooler to use imo. dw we can let the wardens keep their funky shields (y'know, the ones with the missing corners :P) plus if theyre such a "fail class" (your words not mine) arent they really immitating us?
