[EVENT] A Black Moors night - Sunday Feb 26th

A fair lass with golden hair and a sweet voice. A heartbroken lad. The enchanted musicians of a dark Shire forest. Welcome to a magical night where old tales come alive.

    Date: February 26th, 2012
    Time: 7PM GMT/2PM servertime
Location: The dark forest glade below the steep slopes SW of Tuckborough, the Shire. Coordinates: 34.3S, 72.2W

A night of song and story

Follow the tale of Richo from the Black Moors as he tries to woo the lovely lass Candia. Oh, if only he was able to play music suitable for her sweet, lovely voice. Music as beautiful and haunting as what can be heard in the Shire forests in the first days of spring…

A mysterious band of musicians has drawn inspiration from the tales of the singing badgers of the Shire forest, and invites you to come and enjoy a night of songs and story. Welcome, hobbits!

    OOC

This is a hobbit-preferred event, although if there are travellers from out of bounds who have good reason to be in a dark Shire forest with a lot of hobbits, then by all means! Just behave well and don’t block the view of the locals!

Songs performed are based on Blackmore’s Night tunes. Story and song lyrics are performed in /say. Be aware of the LOTRO chat bug, so be sure to come close enough to the performers to catch what they say!

It is great if you don’t use forced emotes or add too much noise and sound to the event.

    Welcome! Enjoy yerself!

Them badger pawprints lead into the woods tonight! Given that it is daylight when the event starts, yer should have little problem finding the way there, but below is a map anyways (the red dot marks the site). Hopefully yer are able to find the way out again after the event, when the woods are all dark... *shivers*

So meet in the forest glade below the steep slopes SW of Tuckborough, coordinates: 34.3S, 72.2W

Every spring, the locals search for the singing badgers in the Shire woods. Last night, a group of hobbits swore they saw them badgers in the woods near Tuckborough!.

Quite likely all nonsense, really, but some hobbits have made pictures of their strange experience. Yer can see them images at the Grand Order forums or at me own burrow.

Else, here is a short song about them weird badgers (best sung to Gordon Lightfoot's Song for A Winter's Night)

    Badgers in the Wood

The night is silent as I walk beneath the trees
No sound of life around me
The moon above brings a soothing evening breeze
A gentle light falls upon me

I find a glade where I can rest
A place I sense is good
I think of days long gone when we came to the Shire
There were badgers in the wood

The moon is rising and the shadows softly move
The hour is near upon me
I fear that once again the stories are disproved
    The mysteries elude me

I wait for hours all through the night
I long for warmth and food
But there is no-one here and once again I sigh
There’s no badgers in the wood

I am about to leave when something makes me turn
Just as the night is ending
A distant sound makes my eagerness return
    The sound of voices humming

Beneath the trees small creatures move
    I offer them my food
The song grows stronger and I cannot help but smile
As I see legends come alive
The singing badgers in the wood
