With IDOME and R8 Moors Banner, mitigations are high enough and morale enough to take a beating in orthanc
Still needs some work on increasing might and maybe sacrificing some vit, alothough I find it works much better than stacking might with only 800 vit as the morale/mitigation loss is to high.
This is my healing/DPS hybrid which works well for me. I have both Menestaid and Dagor armour sets, but use a mix of the two to achieve better results, sacrificing the 5 piece bonus. No food. No IDOME. Just Motivating Speech, Standard of War, and Relentless Attack buff.
This is my build, first picture is without any buffs at all
But since that's not how i roam Middle Earth, this is how i look with Motivating, IDOME, Crit buff, and Morale banner planted:
Also, I just had to see how much might i could reach, so this is with gear and traits for max might. Improved War-banner, might-food and bauble-clicky activated
Is there a reason why so many captains are not building Vitality? Im seeing alot of builds at around 2k might buffed and around 500 - 600 Vitality? Its very easy to have Might over 2k and vit at 1.5 which currently how my captain is built... With such little vitality are mitigations not extremely low?

Give a screenshot with might over 2k and Vit at 1.5k or it really didn't happen.
Also you get mitigations from other things too, not only vit.
Totally unbuffed with banner of war (not planted, just equipped) I'm currently at:
Might ~1850
Agi ~400
Vit ~900
Fate ~200
Will ~100
Phys mastery 27500
Tact mastery 21500
Morale ~7500
Power ~2650
Crit rating ~7,8k
ICPR ~1000
Phys Mit ~7500
Tact Mit ~6500
Resistance ~6000
I can get might over 2,3k or vit near to 2k with gear swapping. The build above is a stable allaround build that I normally roll with. I also have Anduin martyrs set on it so I have the savior bubble which I've fallen in love with. After a week of using it I can say it will take much that I'd change it to something else.
Almost every last one of you are not getting any agility. As it has a hidden influence on misses you should always have 300-500 of it in a build that demands hitting something. No, finesse doesn't affect misses if you were thinking of it.

Personal opinion:
Because a 2k might/1.5k vitality build requires you to suck in crit and agility while running into the "diminishing-returns" wall of mitigations. There´s no point whatsoever in going above around the 1000 Vit mark unless there is a special job to do. Increased chance to hit, increased chance to crit on heals and DB/PA will likely offset any higher damage incurred through lower mitigations, while being better in keeping the rest of your FS alive and kicking. We´re actually hit more by miss chance than other classes like champions because each of our melee skills has an effect beyond pure damage, which doesnt come to pass on a miss.
For me there´s just no point in being a mitigation bot when I could heal much more than I lose through lower mitigations and deal more damage at the same time. What use is it to go in full of mitigations and morale when your threat is so low that all you get to eat are AoEs anyway. There are no bonus points for being the last man standing.
Its like those 11k morale unbuffed Champions and hunters you sometimes see - all their high numbers dont conceal that they hit like wet noodles. Just because "the suck" is not that obvious when a Captain does it, doesnt mean a mitigationbot Captain does not fail at his/her job as well.

I play my Captain as a heavy armored minstrel. I aim for as much tact mastery and crit as I can possibly get without sacrificing too much morale. At my Captain's current stage however I wouldn't mind sacrificing 50-80 might if I could turn it into vitality (not raw morale).
My morale might be slightly lower than some that around with 10.5-11k morale but my philosophy on that is chances are I heal for more, and more HPS equates to more morale essentially.
I run full Perseverance minus helm in the Moors and swap out the chest/gloves for Menestaid for 90% of PvE. What I lose in stats I get back with 6s RC's. For long, single boss fights I'll swap to full Menestaid sometimes.
Running this build for everything now, 3 perseverance + 3 dagor, together with 5red, 2 blue class traits it is just awesome.
Trying to keep as high crit as possible without going under 10k morale and 3k power. Would like to have 6k finesse, but had to compromise for som extra mitigation (8,7 K phys, 7,8 K tact, banner not planted)
My stats, a very effective alround build. Always running 5R 2B or 4R 3B to get the best of the crit multipliers both lines give. In this screenshot IDOME was up, the banner wasn't planted. No food or other buffs besides motivation and relentless.
