Red face Pit of Iron Quest Mystery

I may be able to get along without these quests but still the mystery remains. On my LM, Dazz, I did all of Ondor's quests in both his locations in Heathfells and Nan Curunir BUT the starter quest for Pit of Iron, the axe outside the cave entrance, does not appear. I am stumped so I'm asking the collective brain trust of Gladden if they might have a clue. BTW, I succeeded in opening these quests with my burg but can't sort out the difference between what I did on burg vs. what I did on the LM. The rhetorical question is 'why the hell are these things so unnecessarily complex'? So, don't answer that unless it's a snarky retort. Seriously, though, does anyone know the trick to this?

You need to finish the rider quest on top of the hill. That opens up the pit quests.

Thanks, friend. But can you give me the name of this quest? It would help. Google doesn't seem to know it.

In addition to finding Ondor the dwarf and helping him seal off the entrance to an orc cave, you'll need to do the quests in Dol Baran (88.4S @ 6.8W).

A resource I often find to be quite helpful for many aspects of Lotro:

Re: Pit of Iron Quest Mystery

i have had the same problem with the quests. I did a bunch and i am still stuck on the Dol Baran portion. I am hoping that after 3 days of back tracking i will find the right quest to unlock the other 22 in heathfells. My question to LOTRO is why would you make the quest line so choppy and hard to follow ?

ps. i will post the quest that ends up being key for me.

    thank-you for the name.

You need to finish all aspects of this line, rescue the riders and finish the instance to get the quest to open the mines.
