    Cool Should I even bother?

As a level 42, is there even a point of being in the Ettenmores?

I would love to keep doing the "Cleanse the Hoarwell River" Quest again and again to gain glory, but I imagine my journey there is pointless if I'm not up there with the big boys.

My main question is- why do they let you into the Ettenmores at 40 if there is no use you can be of?

    Thoughts?

    Re: Should I even bother?

Because level cap used to be lvl 50 and then as a 40 you still didn't stand much of a chance but you were not as useless as you are now and devs never bothered to change it I guess best explanation I can think of

and no no real point to bother going there at lvl 42

I'm sure the creeps would love it, although you may still present a challenge to some of them.

On my captain, I did the Cleansing the Hoardale quest daily to reach rank 1. There is a cloak you can buy which is a GREAT bonus for level 40's+.

But other than that, no use. If I see a low level, especially a light armoured one, I don't care charging through a ball of freeps to kill you. It's an easy 100 infamy. Easier if on my BA.

Speaking as a warg: Yes, absolutely you should keep venturing into the Ettenmoors to do that quest.

Speaking as a fellow player: No, you'd be a damned fool to keep going in below level cap.

Funny I feel the same way about bright magenta spiders...

But seriously, there is no reason to come to the moors pre-72 and almost strickly 75 now. The gap between 72-75 is almost the same as it was for level 50's coming out when it was a 60 cap. Creeps are all tricked out now and there is really no chance for a low level like there was in the past. I am not saying this is a bad thing, I am just saying the way I think it is now.

    Re: Should I even bother?

Actually, tbh, on all of my characters, as soon as they reach level 40, I take them to the moors and at the very least discover the map. That way, I can see what the keeps and ops are even if I'm not in the moors. Also, if you go out at lower levels, you can have some great fun. Some of the best times I've had are when me and another lvl 40 friend or 2 have gone out and fought creeps. Yes, we died, but that's part of pvp and part of the fun :P. Solo, you will die, but at least you'll get accustomed to it

    Re: Should I even bother?

In terms of trying to solo creeps, no. In terms of grouping (I doubt many groups would take a lvl 42 anyway, people in the moors can be unfriendly), probably not.

In the grand scale of things, it depends on what class you're playing. Some classes are stronger and have more advantages in the moors than others at that level. If you go there, roll something like a guard with high defenses and mit's. I'd advise you not to go, due to the fact that finding a group will be very hard (And they often just use you as bait :P), and soloing will be pretty much impossible.

    Re: Should I even bother?

It's fine to go in a level 42. Hey, there was even a band called that for the very reason of it being the best time for running around in EM...well, ok that was slight poetic license.

No really. Take a look. Dont expect to kill anything (except weavers) and enjoy exploring the map. Creeps probably wont trouble you unless you dress as a slug and look like you might drop a lootbox. Have fun.

Get 3 to 4 level 40 mates and camp tol 2.

It's hilarious watching creeps panic as they get owned by some level 40s. And yes, they will call the creep horde to come.

Yeah, if you're a skilled player it can be a lot of fun. Myself and 2 of my friends went out there pre-isen on 3 level 45's (2 cappies and a LM) and made two R6+ wargs blow all cds to live, lol. Good times.

    Re: Should I even bother?

It's pretty pointless at that level. Although I once had a level 50 or so guard cause a lot of problems in a 3 freep vs. 2 creep fight. It was something like an RK, LM and lowbie guard vs 2 reavers. We tried this fight several times in the same area. If we went for the squishies first, the guard would shieldwall and keep them alive just long enough for them to blow us up. If we went for the guard, the other two would blow us up before we could get them down. I think we lost 5 of 6 fights or something that way.

Anyway, the point is that you can be slightly useful in a group depending on your class but it's mostly pointless. You will just get jumped by wargs or blown up by reavers/BAs in a raid vs raid fight. Soloing would be impossible.

    Re: Should I even bother?

Coming up on 5 years ago, the level cap was 50. Creeps were ALL unranked and green.

A solid L50 freep could reasonably be expected to solo 2-3 creeps.

L40s were allowed in because they COULD be competative vs unranked creeps, and most still were.

    <insert years of expansions/patches/upgrades>

Turbine didn't update the L40 gate to the moors.

Not enough people complained to get it fixed. Heck, even the BIG things EVERYONE complains about sometimes take ages to get fixed.

But to answer your question...no. Don't bother. Spend that time leveling, getting your legendaries, virtues, gear. The moors will be here still when you're ready.

    Re: Should I even bother?

I'd say it depends on your class. If you are a might using class then check out the r1 cloak in GV it's worth getting rank for, but for actually playing, you cant really do much unless you are a mini then you should be fine at any level.
