    Error 201, weird problem

I know that there is a common technical issues thread about this
problem, I have read it and similar threads here about this but i would still like some advice on it.
To start off with my OS is windows XP sp2 and so far I have
never experienced this error or the things that associated with it,
and I have played a lot of the newest games/mmorpgs on this hd.

I downloaded the installer through media pando booster off of the
official site and everything went fine, but after starting the installer
about halfway through whole computer began to lag and almost completely
freeze for maybe 5-10 seconds, and then began the so-called "Click of death"
and then afterwards i get the dreaded 201 error message:

    C:\xx\turbine\client_surface.d at
An error has occurred while trying to copy a file:
    Data error(cyclic redundancy check)

Didn't think so much about the hd and proceeded to do
everything that this thread advised me on doing:

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...-11-03-2011%29

After following to the letter all these instructions
I did the clean re-install of the game and the same thing happens
so I decide that i should try downloading the installer to another hd,
I did but by direct downloading it from fileplanet, instead of using the
media pando thingie and the exact same thing happened, the same click,
the same weird lag the same error but not when i was installing but when
I was merely extracting the file, causing it to abort. I have tried multiple times,
rebooted my computer about 6 times total to no avail.

Now maybe I'm just very unlucky and that my hds both decided to go up in smoke on this install
but if you have any tips or tricks for me it would be greatly appreciated
seeing as I would very much like to play this game!

(It would seem to me that the first thing you would assume is that my hd's are
both suffering from failure of some kind but I really would not think so, I have installed
and played some of the newest games out there in the last month, but if you still
think that this is the reason I will believe you, and buy a new hd.)

P.S. sorry for the flood of text

Cyclic Redundancy Check errors are typically data read/write issues with the drive. A CRC failure most often but not always is indicative of an impending drive issue, either failure outright or bad sector writes.

I'd recommend the usual steps of chkdsk (check disk) and defrag and the kb article here might help as well but you might want to also seek external pro help with troubleshooting a potentially 'bad' drive.
