Well, it's south, but "near south" as opposed to "far south".

That's close enough for me.
What I was describing was "land under the wave" and since that is gennerally considered to be either Numenor or Beleriand you win the riddle stick!

I have found that sometimes the first image that comes to mind happens to be correct so I am going to guess:
Barrow Downs (hills with standing stones erected upon them).

Standing stones aren't really constructed are they? (try again)
I hope the clue is good enough, I tried for a relatively simple one. *gulp*

Don't be too ashamed Sophie. Once, I not only responded to the wrong thread, but then I posted that the answer I had given was much more appropriate than the answer that was awarded the riddle stick.
Someone had to post to alert me that I had my head up my burro.

Oh no worries, I'm back to try again. Embarrassment never taught me anything yet!
How about the Sceptre of Annuminas (alternately, and the same item, the Rod of the Lords of Andunie)? Although if Boraxxe was on the wrong track with the Stewards' Rod it's probably not too close to the right answer.

Hm, "twig" was possibly too obscure.
how about "young twig or shoot taken from a plant for productive gardening purposes of Monarchs"
I'm not sure if I've just made this laughably easy or infinitely more difficult..

Oooh infuriatingly close with that.
Aragorn could be described as the Sicon of Kings, but he is "Elfstone of house Strider".
Be even more obvious.

Yup! Sicon of Kings or "Ereinion" being Gil-Galad's "honorary" name.

New to this style so let me know if I'm mucking it up.

Meteor's progeny brings the swords smithed by Eöl into my mind. Sadly, I don't know the poem you might be referring to. Hah, any hint?

So close I'm tempted to just give it to you, but no. You must work all the way through. as to the poem; You obviously have internet access.

Maeglin
Bouquet by Langston Hughes
Gather quickly
Out of darkness
All the songs you know
And throw them at the sun
Before they melt
Like snow
Maeglin is the son of Eol who was known as the Dark Elf.
So, Maeglin could be said to have come "out of darkness".
Edit: On second thought, meteor's progeny may be one of the black swords that Eol produced using meteoric iron. Now I would like to propose either Anglachel or Anguireil.
