Have to agree with this. Every where we turn lately they're making it a lot easier to just buy from store.

Commendations = Buy skills from store
DP = Buy perks from store
Star-Lit Crystals = Buy from store

I gave up on my creeps simply because I couldn't afford to buy a skill + audacity. It's hard enough to compete on the creep side these days, but it's just suicide without those things.

The Commendations system is fine for PvMP but I'd increase the cap. I also say keep the DP system for the PVEers, its a good system works great for removing dread from defeat, getting buffs in Raids/Instances, etc. if your VIP. Why take out and replace something if it works. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" come to mind when reading about this.

If you're a creep the only way to actually get a chance of surviving is attaining L8 audacity. This costs you 40,000 commendations. PER CHARACTER. So with my 6 characters thats 240k. Fine? yeah, OK.

Re: Update 6: Commendations Developer Diary

Sine I have no characters at the level cap, I spend most of my time freepside grinding levels, grinding coin, and grinding tp.

I come to creepside to take a break from that gridning.

    What do i get?

    More grind.

I have to PvE grind daily to get skills, traits, and audacity (dont even get me started on skins). Not to mention that I have 3 other creeps that I would love to work on, but because of this ridiculous system I have to focus on my main. I have to grind to buy ridiculously high priced everything!

If I don't have skills, traits, corruptions, I am just a sitting duck. Free renown for almost any freep that cares to take some.

And seeing a bunch of creeps walking around with the r0 skins is starting to get irritating. Me at r5 walking around with the same skin on for 3 months is ridiculous.

And the devs just keep on ignoring us and refusing to do anything about this issue. This is a cash system for Turbine, forcing creeps to buy their skills from the Turbine Store.

I for one will never buy a single skill nor anything to do with Ettenmoors while they keep treating us like this.

Re: Update 6: Commendations Developer Diary

Sigh. I really picked the wrong time to start playing creep-side.

I have a rank four captain who I don't really play in the Moors, because raid-hugging isn't exactly my idea of a fun PvP environment. I encountered quite a few awesome weavers the few times I decided to go solo, so I thought I'd make one of my own and stick with her for a while. Right now, with the insane grind for commendations, it's really hard to find a reason to keep logging into the Moors...

I've had to start multiple creeps to fund my main one. I PvE with them for commendations, occasionally grouping up to flip OPs and getting killed by freeps constantly, while my spider sits...and...waits, while that commendations counter slowly inches up. Sometimes I PvE with her as well, just so I can get a feel for the class. I purchase a skill or a corruption for her when I can, and then the grind begins again... I'm not even THINKING about purchasing any audacity or trying to solo against some freeps until I get her up to rank five or so.

Are you freaking serious, Turbine? By making skills, corruptions, and audacity ALL commendation-dependent, you give players no choice but to PvE constantly in a PvP zone! What's the point? And no, I refuse to purchase the vast majority of my weaver's skills in the store. I know that creeps have always had to PvE to some extent to gain those first initial ranks, but from what I understand, you never had to do it continuously over several characters just to purchase basic things like skills. If it were still possible to purchase skills with destiny points, I would be able to spend more time doing what I log into the Moors to do: PvP.

If you even consider leveling your first toon to 75 a grind, then you're most likely missing out on something. Enjoy the story, the landscape and the small details out there.

Being a R0 creep in Ettens is horrible though.

Re: Update 6: Commendations Developer Diary

Where the store-centric content is concerned Turbine will just not listen to players concerns.

Take for example the issue with the store bought armour. There was a certain amount of damage limitation in terms of hiding the thread and even making an official heartfelt statement - but the stuff is still available in the store.

Lootboxes - hardly any positive response about this on the forums and many concerned posts. Still in the game.

Its going to be the same with commendations and creep skills. They nerf destiny and alter the system, which is of course a matter of choice but will also ofc generate a huge mound of cash. $ speak louder than words in this game. many creeps will be giving in to temptation.

Its the same with the crystals. Again a matter of choice, grind with a low drop rate or buy in the store. Even though I hate the concept I bought 3 in the store for my bow, against my better judgement.

I wouldnt mind so much if they were actively pumping those funds into some serious pvp development.

So imho as far as the tone of this thread goes even if they pacify us with a statement the system is likely to stay because it generates $. Its the worst thing about this game but ofc many of us will keep paying and thats all they want in the end.

regarding the previous posters reference to grind I disagree. I undertake a serious amount of grind (doing the same content over and over) to build my toon to a certain level to compete well in the content i really enjoy. I have willingly undertaken a certain amount of grind in pvp to obtain previous armour sets. However my main motivation in pvp is to have fun and a rest from the grind. The new system is however introducing a pve grind out of proportion to the potential pvp experience, at a time when what is needed after 5 years is a fresh injection of real pvp content and development not a sham money making scam disguised as making fights slower.

    1. Thats why I havent bought the RoI upgrade. After levelling 9 characters to L65 I really cant be bothered to upgrade them to L75. As for examining the small details, I've played for so long I've started counting the bricks in Lugazag keep.
    2. Look on it as challenge. Join an active tribe, that normally helps, we spend a few hours each evening just PvEing for levelling beginners, just to try and persuade them to play. You have to have a certain mentality though .

My warg was unranked when the switched to comms. Since then, I've gotten him to rank 6 (nearly 7) and 5 audacity--without buying things in the store. In fact, some of the key traits/skills (shadow stance for exampe) are NOT available in the store. Nor is audacity. So... yeah.

How many hours a day do you play in the moors? Just curious..
