Thread: Misty Mountain Cold - The Hobbit Trailer Theme ABC

I saw someone asking for this tune, but haven't seen an ABC for it yet myself, so I took a stab at making a midi for it. I ended up with 3 slightly different versions depending on the number of players, which I'll list below. The first is a quartet for bass, harp, lute, and melody. There's a flute version of this in the youtube link in my sig.

Oh yes, most certainly on the pibgorn...LOL, I think my ears are bleeding! It is perfect on Lute though. Will have to try the rest out another day.

It took a while, but I finally made a video based on Gemer's ABC files. My heartfelt thanks to the Journeymen for giving me this wonderful tune to play!

I got a new video posted in my sig link too. Our band just came off a tour of our first official set and made a short video to feature some of our arrangements. Next week we'll be back on the road with set 2 : D

Very impressive work Gemer, I do not play music often, but that definitely is a must have abc file.

Hey, I just replied to you in another thread! Small world : D

To make these into playable files, I use Microsoft's Notepad program which I think comes with every windows install. Just copy and paste the text (ctrl C, ctrl V) into a Notepad doc, but be sure to save it as a .abc file as opposed to the .txt default. Then place the file in right directory. I think the path is users/documents/LordoftheRings/Music. You may have to actually create the 'Music' folder.

The once you are in-game you can type key commands to play the file. Equip an instrument, enter 'music mode', and type...
/play songname

I think that's it, hopefully someone corrects me if wrong. I've been enjoying the Songbook addon which makes selecting and playing songs all point and click. I highly recommend getting that for anyone playing with lotro music; it's awesome!

Yes indeed! I just saw your post today and made me realize I should upload the file to freemidi.org. It's the first midi file I've ever created, and since I created it with the intention to export several abc versions (solo, duet and quartet), it's a little sloppy how the tracks are organized. But anyone is welcome to play around with what I got here.

Got a favour to ask of anyone who might see this, but especially Gemer. I'd like a solo version which lets me play all 23 verses of the song which are scattered throughout The Hobbit. This section:

I absolutely LOVE what Gemer has done, but now that the full version is available, would it be possible for some kindly, talented soul to provide a full, solo version of Misty Mountain Cold for either lute or flute? I'm very sorry to be a bother, but I'm just really excited at the possibility of being able to play the entire thing instead of the 48 second lil' teaser piece.
