Activity Log Info Only Lasts a year?

I don't know if others knew this, but I recently discovered that the character information (in the activity log) only seems to cover the past year. I LOVE having comprehensive information about my character--when I got to each level and pvmp rank, when I did deeds/quests, and so on. So I am bummed that the information only covers the most recent activity. I can imagine it is a sizable amount of data to store, but I'd really appreciate that info being saved for players...

Unfortunately, what you are asking for will never happen. Turbine made it clear they only willing to pay to store one year's history for active characters. Inactive characters are completely purged the web system after a while.

In addition there are limitations. Characters that never get populated so they have no activity. Characters that should be deleted the web servers think the character is not players. Other characters that do not get any updates. Characters that get partial updates.

Most of 2011 the activity log was down for the count. It was not updating. MyLotro could not handle the addition of the EU servers and their characters.

I doubt it will ever change because MyLotro is a service that is near its capacity limit. Sometimes goes over its limit partially shuts down. The purges are necessary to keep the service from dying because Turbine does not to spend dollars to expand it.

Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.
